I must say, I do need the money right now, and that's quite a hefty sum.
Even without thinking of the fact that if that were my money in that position, I'd want it back, I wouldn't think of taking it.
The sheer guilt of keeping that sum is outrageous, but I don't know if I can trust our cops to deal with it correctly. Even if I log a case, the docket will, sure as day, go missing and the money smuggled out amongst a group of them.

That's just awful, I mean, I knew kids could be cruel, but really? They're making fun of him for being a decent human?
That's just-
I mean-

I need to lie down, I'm getting too sad/angry/tired, that 17-year old did a real good thing though, he deserves better friends than that.

Sadly, we live in a society that lost almost any sense of good morality. If we compare marriages from 30 years ago with those from nowadays, we see today couples break for dumb stuff, but old ones keep their compromise even besides all the struggles in the relationship. Same goes with kindness, honesty, and many others. Whoever choses to be honest and do something like what you shared, he is an embarrassing to the society. That kills my mood. Anyway, I prefer to have a clean conscience and feel great after doing good stuff and don't bother what society thinks about me. Thank you for sharing this story and letting me know there is still very good people around the world :)

Lucky boy, I wish I can be like him. Yeah, I'll handed the money to the police instead of just keeping it.

It's sad to see people on the internet often post hateful comment because they're not irl, it still hurts even just a text...
And being "good guy" seems strange nowadays because they're in minority.

Thank you for sharing the stories ^^ Cheer up boy, you're awesome ^^

The mentality of some people can be just so damn frustrating sometimes. These folks actually condemned a perfectly good act out of sheer greed and stupidity. You're right, I'm sad too :/

The ones that are laughing about him are the really stupid people. and I really don't get them, they have such twisted minds. Being honest and giving back what isn't yours is the right thing to do, so I'm happy that there are people like this 17 years old ^^
Sure, money is nice, but there is nothing better than knowing you did the right thing and just because someone lost it doesn't mean it's okay to keep it. If someone lost his phone, laptop or house keys, no one would just take them and decide that they belong to them now. (And those that would keep these things would be well aware that this counts as stealing.)
Even if a shopkeeper / cashier gives me too much change, I return the money. Most people tell me that it's stupid, but you know ^^ it feels great when the cashier realizes that you just acted like a decent human being and every time I return, they greet me with a smile and that is much better than some extra cash.

I found a wallet in the train last year; it had this guy's credit card, his travel card, his social security card, not to mention 100 bucks in cash.
I felt so bad for the guy, I looked up the address on the internet, and called the number I found there; his mum picked up the phone, and the poor boy had been totally out of it. :/
We arranged for him to call me on the same day; he did so a few hours later, and we met up not far from the lab I was working at in the afternoon.
Sheeshus, I'm still so happy I got to return everything to him.

Honesty is the best policy. I'm so glad that boy returned the money. Anyone saying otherwise should just go to the nearest bridge..

And I thank you in turn for your story. The common idiotic commenters aside, it really warms my heart. :)

Awful.

If I'd found it then absolutely I'd turn it in. I don't believe in cosmic brownie points (karma). But I do believe in doing the right thing.
