Was it...
Atrocious seems to be the current vote. Well, even at atrocious it exceeded my expectations.

It was 80% at rottentomatoes.

Critic reviews are in fact quite high, some of them 4/5 , 4.5/5. Makes me question how high they would rate the original

You can't trust critics anymore. So many people get paid to review positive.

I don't think they were worried about that
To be fair his been doing chick flicks for awhile now and critics were always very positive.
Paul Feig last movie also starred Melissa McCarthy and got good reviews, even got a 94% on RT.
I dont know why, but critics like him

But Spy was kinda funny and subversive. I haven't seen Ghostbusters yet, but for what I got so far it kinda seems to suck

My brother went to see it earlier and I saw he posted this on Facebook; "Ghostbusters is fackin shite.....nothing else needs to be or should be said about it" along with several poop emoticons.

In terms of Steam ratings: Mostly Positive. I am basing off Rotten Tomatoes.

Neon Demon: Laughed at by critics with a consistent high audience score over all sites
Ghostbusters: 76% RT; 62 Metacritic yet despised by the audience.
Im starting to trust the regular audience verdict far more than i used to

I don't. Simply for the fact that people seem to care far to much about a movie, yes I get that ghostbusters was a part of your childhood and you hate the idea of anyone ruining it. I get it. As an X-men fan and various comic books, I get to see some of my favorite heroes butchered on screen. Green Lantern anyone? X-men has become unbearable to me, but that's more to do with the stories not the particular actors involved. Hence why I'm indifferent to the whole Iron Man is a black female named Riri.
But a lot of the hate that they're getting is simply well as someone said here because of this anti-SJW/anti-feminist outrage which is just as annoying as this "Nazi-feminism" and this entirely irritating subsection of Tumblr. Which I find to be fascinating because they're both irritating subsections that completely miss the point of their movements these days.
So if I do see this movie, I'm going to see it with an open mind. They wanted to do something new with the property in a time where people are about empowering women, where studio execs are trying to market to women, it has very little to do with feminism and more to do with the all mighty dollar. Which is why we're getting an all female ocean's eleven, and I'm pretty sure there was an all female Expendables in our future.

I have different reasons though, didn't like the trailer or this director for that matter.
I'll have to watch it, but that trailer did not convinced me
What i can say for sure is that male flicks like expendables get rather mediocre ratings.
I heard a lot of unfair comments accusing people of being anti feminist, even from the director and cast.
What about creating something original? Why not make Basic Instinct with Ryan Gosling instead of a woman? why not Kill Bill with Jackie chan?
Legally blonde with owen wilson would be great too

-sighs- You're missing the point, this argument this film isn't about women rights, or feminism or anything of the sort. It's about making money, and a lot of the hate is people either being upset that they're rebooting Ghostbusters which is fair, or thinking that this is part of some feminist agenda to takeover Hollywood. It's not.
It's all about the money. Look at the reasoning behind ScarJo and Ghost in the Shell, (I wish an Asian actress could be playing Major but it is what it is) for the amount of money that they're going to put into that movie through CGI, they want a bigger built in fanbase then the anime fans who would go see the movie. It's the same idea here to some degree, Hollywood isn't in the business of making originals these days because original's aren't helping their bottom line unless you're Disney. It's a much safer bet to reboot or restart a franchise.

A lot of the criticism is not from a place of ignorance, it just so happens ignorant people are the loudest people. there is already plenty of reasonable reasons to dislike the trailer.
If anything they have tried to use feminism has a way to ignore past criticism.
what Hollywood needs to realize is that chick flicks is not the same as a well developed female lead. There should be movies for every taste but at least bring something original to the table.
As for Scarlett. yes its business has movies are becoming more and more expensive. I dont think studios are entirely at fault, it's a vicious cycle where americans will spend more money to watch a movie if it has a well known actress.
Said movies get made and what happens is that there is still no A-list female asian actresses even though there are plenty of actors for the roles.
So far im talking about the concept or idea behind it, i'm yet to watch the movie

Personally I only go to the theater to watch MCU films, the big ones. So this really doesn't apply to me. Theaters are fucking expensive.

Won't waste my limited funds on that piece of crap. I forsee it bombing harder than Hiroshima.

No idea, but Ghostbusters: The Video Game (2009) is supposedly pretty good and from what I read is essentially the storyline for the 3rd movie that was never made (with the original cast).

I strongly doubt most of the people bashing it so hard have actually seen it. It's fine to not want to see something, but don't rate it badly on review aggregator sites if you haven't seen it, and don't act like you know it's horrible if you haven't seen it.
Sorry I just hate the trend these days to bandwagon hate on things just because they do a few things wrong. Yeah, I personally don't think it looks very good from a comedy or horror perspective, and I do think an all-female team wasn't the best idea, but I'm not calling it an abomination for those small things I personally disagreed with in the trailers because I'm not 12 years old.

And I guarantee the majority haven't seen it - it's being review bombed by a bunch of butt hurt misogynists.

I'm a woman and I refuse to see this movie....It's not just about the cast being women you know...

That's fine, people are fully entitled to see or not see whatever they want.
However when someone is going out of their way to shit on a movie they haven't even seen yet - with an all Female cast - that kind of aggressive vehemence speaks to something more deep seated then "I love Ghostbusters and didn't want to see another one"
Realistically there IS no good reason to shit all over a movie you haven't seen until you, you know, actually see it Otherwise you are speaking from an unfounded base with nothing to back it up.
It's just a bunch of typical entitled fanboy behavior -

Its not out yet here.
I have fond memories of the first 2 GB movies. Childhood memories. I watched the 2nd one in a cinema.
The first one is in my top 5 of childhood memories (along wit The Goonies, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, Neverending Story)
I'll judge for myself, I dont care for reviews as the often dont reflect my personal taste but its not a movie I'll watch in the cinema, I'll watch it eventually. I'm not too thrilled about it though.
Comment has been collapsed.
measuring the quality of a movie based on a website where probably 80%+ reviewers are d*mb af ain't clever.
I'll eventually watch it but since I'm old enough to know the real ghostbusters the new one ain't standing a chance of victory. Of course it's well made in terms of visual effects but I don't like the fact the producers are basically crapping on a great story using an actor who isn't funny at all and totally not cut out for the role just to resell the movie is shit. If they would have named it at least Ghostbusters Comedy or something I wouldn't even tend to have negative thoughts about it.

As I refuse to go see the new unnecessary Ghostbusters film, how was it? With a measly 3.7 on IMDb right now, I am curious to see what you guys think.
