I sure did. So after working for them for over 11 years, I decided to start 2025 with a completely fresh start and a new job. But not without immortalizing their corporate greed in a free weekly comic! I called it BOTL (Bottom of the Ladder) and you can find it right here on Instagram (or here on Patreon).

"Yes, but we're not here for comics, but for games!!"

I've liked most of my bosses. But a few also fell under the 'promoted to incompetence' category. Like they deserve promotions and pay raises, they excel at the work and have great experience, but they do not make good managers.

The one I currently have is the worst one I ever had. Dogshit human being and dogshit as a boss too. I'm gonna have to quit almost entirely cause of them.

I hate my job way more than my boss. I don't blame him for most of it, and he's generally a nice guy, but we're stuck in a cycle of "I under-perform because of tedium" > "he doesn't think I'm capable of more responsibilities" > "I under-perform harder because I have no incentive."

This is what happened at my old job as well.
I was gunning for promotion, learning new things, taking on more opportunities. Turned out the boss was badmouthing me to the management, I did not get the promotion, I started underperforming in some tasks... Dude actually got fired short atfer that. But damage was done.

Next supervisor kind of started from beginning but I could not get in the groove of getting new responsibilities to learn more. Eventually I could not care rats ass for performing better. Company is almost bankrupt now so overall it was incompetent management which was simply not able to work with its employees. For some it went fine, but many left eventually. Funnily - both of the managers under whom I underperformed were fired...

Other than this specific company I have had good experience with all my managers. Interestingly, I have had a good 50/50 balance between famale, male managers and biggest boost in my career have come from female bosses. In my current position my managar (female) changed to new manager (male) two or three months ago. He is way more experienced and I feel a bit more safer.. but planning the new years budget he already cut my salary ..... which actually comes from projects I find myself and manage. Of course confronted him and eventually got the salary increase I had planned for this year. Hes a good manager, but hes way more company centered and while I hear the classic "I hear your suggestions and concerns and we will address them" I already know nothing will change much in the next year.

Either way - best situation is being your own boss.

Don't hate my bosses, hate the state the company i work for is and watching it turning into nothing as days go on.

I wanted to buy a house this year but this doesn't look really nice for me.

I love my current boss, well our chef and exec are great anyway (I rarely get to meet the actual boss, let alone the guy on top) but I had plenty a**holes in the hierarchy when I was working in finances, believe me.
I love the comic! Will be checking it weekly!

Congrats on the fresh start and good luck on the new job (•‿•)

Meet the new boss, Same as the old boss

Also, Instagram isn't the best to host webcomics. If, for any reason, they doesn't like you anymore, you could lose all your archive AND reach.

Hey man,

I am sorry to hear about it.
I know how much it hurt to not seen and undervalued.

I have some ideas and I have been pitching to find some fundings in acompletely chaotic country.
So I kind of know how can hard being a boss be. (people tease me because in my budget ı have the lowest budget so I might not be your typical boss)
And I was hoping there was just a misunderstanding.

Unfortunatelly you are right. You describe some real A**+0!s

I hope you find peace in your new job.
