So next Saturday I will "become the daddy" of a 2 months old German shepherd puppy. I'm still not sure about his name though. I asked /b/ to name him, but since they didn't come up with something wittier than Ebola, Erect and Engleburt Humperdick, I'm asking YOU guys.
It's a boy.
It has to be a name with E.
If you want, I'll post pictures in a week.

Elvis.. Edmund.. Ezra.. or even, if he's a clever one, Einstein?

A two syllable name is always best for dogs, they respond and recognise best those names.

And yes please DO post photos!

Ezra sounds nice, but kinda girly. I don't really like the other 2 :)

Oh,thats how i name my dog,but he is a small one.I was having a german sepherd before and i loved her,her name was Frida. She understand everything just with a look of me.So clever dogs, good choice. But i belive that its best to go to a dog trainer at the begging so he can learn to you and your puppy the basics.I dont know if that is your first dog or not but you must have a lot of persistence and patience with puppies. And i go with Mullinx i love the name Ex ;)

We had 2 German shepherds as I grew up, Sadly they died relatively quickly. One had problems with his heart and died of an asystole and another one had some rare disease that literally ate his insides. No maggots. We also had a landseer dog, but he must have fell down the stairs or something when he wasn't even 2 months old. He always had problems with 1 leg and it got worse and worse, so we decided to let him stop suffering. We were never really lucky with dogs when it comes to their health, but when you've lived all your life with dogs and suddenly you don't, there will always be an empty space. This is my first very own dog, so I hope I will get a nice and healthy little fella :)

I'm not going to. I know how to treat them and what they need. They all were from dog breeders, including this one, with a good reputation. You can't really blame them. No one could know what will happen to them in the future.

You can listed to me if you want or you cant i'm just a stranger on internet.Dont buy from them i've seen a lot of videos on you tube, how they breeding, survival conditions and more.I dont think that this will change just because its german sepherd the dog.I will suggest you the animal shelters but i belive that they dont have the dog you want.

As harsh as it sounds, but our animal shelter is a shit hole. I don't even know how they are still allowed to hold dogs there. My mother used to work in an animal shelter when she was a teenager yet. She doesn't suggest buying from there either. As much as it saddens me to see all the animals in tiny and dirty cages, I don't want to support that nor those pet shops. I don't want animals to be treated like articles in the store.

Please do! I love dogs and always had german shepherds! I currently have my first male doggy, 2 years old, named with A. (so my previous list of names wont do you any good :P)

Suggestions:
Don't name him after a human, dogs deserve their own name not tainted with our defects. They are faithful innocent beings, cherish them, because it's the one thing that matters, you mean the world to them, never ever forget that.
Pick a short name, two silabes works best, not too short (they can be confussed/not respond), not too long, you'd never even use it after all.
Examples: Ermac! (I'm joking, don't name it after a MK char)
Always thought names from novels or movies were cool, if you like The Lord of the Rings, (Tolkien) you have plenty of elven names too!

Give him a tag (a strong one so he'll chew it and it'll survive as a toy, the yanking, and all that puppies do)

Learn about what to feed him and what don't to, this is important.
Play with him, don't punish him too hard but make him notice when he did something that isn't supposed to, use WORDS, orders, don't do it phisically unless you know how and he doesn't respond to words.

There's plenty of info, and plenty ways to screw him up if you don't care. I hope you do. Don't take this (or him) as a joke.

Good luck and I hope you both be happy together!

Okay question, will he get some artifical implants?... like... to improve his feats, like an enhanced olfaction or something?! because then you could call him E-Dog and even tailor him a cape!
