Entering giveaways from work/school (probably on smartphone? no clue if it works) but activating games once at home only. So it is possible someone online, entering giveaways but not activating giveaways for a while still.
But the answer is yes, there are bots too, probably.

You can activate games via browser, so there's no problem doing it on smartphone.

Assuming they only have access to a phone or very limited access to a public PC (which they'd probably not want to expose their Steam account to) it's a lot easier to enter giveaways than it is to find and activate keys and then mark them while still spending the majority of time doing actual work/school. For the sake of convenience it's understandable that most people would prefer to wait with the latter.

Maybe they use bots, maybe not. Why are you asking?

In the same way you get personally annoyed at people not activating their wins promptly, personally, when I see someone winning a game a day (i.e. more than they could possibly play, and keep up with their wins) would be considered an indiscriminate hoarder.

The comment was clearly a joke, only 867 users out of the 1,1 mill are level 9/10.

In my opinion, half of the Lv1 users were users who violated some SG rules.
Have surveyed all users who participated in GA in the past.
It's been about a year since conducted the investigation, and it's natural to think that some of the conflicting acts are "such acts."

Can you tell me if I have violated a rule? If so, which? I have been BL for some people without knowing why, this may be a reason that I don't know.

Q.I want to find out if I violate SG rules!
A.FAQ Guidelines and.. SGTools
Check if a user has activated all his gifts, useful if you want to check a little bit the winners of your giveaways.
Multiple Wins. Checks if a user has won and marked as received the same game more than once

Should I assume some users are using bots?
Yes.
Should you call them out?
No.
Are this right criteria to tell if somebody is using a bot?
Not really. Sometimes I look like I'm online but I'm afk xD For example I logged in on steam... and then had no time to even look at it because of work xD Also I prefer to activate wins on my own PC while at home. It's sort of ritual, and I activate wins in my work only if ga creator wrote in description that he/she really wants quick activation (+ I have time for that).
My own criteria to say if somebody is using bot is when I create couple of giveaways and I have entries from the same user in all of them in the same second xD Also if they post generic "Thanks" message in all of them (also in the same socond) it looks really sus xD

Not necessarily - I almost never turn off my browser, and there's always SG open in some tab. If that is enough to appear online, then I am online almost 24/7, sometimes even during sleep.
Regarding entering new giveaways - sometimes I simply line up giveaways I want to enter, but don't have the points, and hop in every 2-3 hours to spend my points in 15 second spree. Should I find out in such moment that I won something, and yet I'm currently busy with sometihng else, waiting for Steam to turn on, check wheter proper game was added to account, and sending thanks becomes a disruption in any activity I might be doing. You could say "Wait a second, you're busy, but have time to enter the giveaways?" In such case, I'd say yes, as it's simply harder to find a minute than a moment, but I do admit - if I made an effort, I could redeem a won game, but I know that it can wait couple hours (compared to 7 days any giveaway creator should be mentally prepared for it to take, it shoudn't be a problem really).

Best to just ignore it. While it's true that a lot of people, especially low level ones use bots/automated scripts to enter the GAs and that's against TOU, there is no way to prove it. Somehow they're able to be online 24/7, constantly enter new GAs while at the same time ignoring your best efforts to contact them about the giveaway they've won for days. How curious.

Yes, probably they are using bots. If they are entering giveaways, they could also activate their wins, the device and location are not relevant.
If someone has time to enter giveaways, they also have time to activate their wins (unless they're bots).

Scenario: I can access Steamgifts on my laptop at work as long as I signed in at home, but Steam, both client and site, is blocked on the network.
Just because someone is "online" here doesn't mean they're able to activate their wins. In fact, it doesn't even mean they're at their PC (my gaming PC stays on 24/7, for instance, and someone might simply leave their browser open). It's best to be patient and allow them the seven days (according to the rules) to activate. Real life is always more important than this site.
Aside: Despite what anyone says, there's no way for regular users to know for certain if someone is using a bot, and pointing accusatory fingers without actual knowledge is foolish and can result in a suspension.

It's like me atm, I'm on my phone and don't have access to my laptop yet, so I wait till I have the time to redeem it later. Why not do it on my phone? Well idk I just fear that I will lcik something wrong in the peocess because all buttons are so small! (>0<;)

I'll be honest, sometimes I don't have enough motivation to send a thoughtful thank you message so I procrastinate redeeming the key and marking as received for a few days.
I know how silly it sounds, it's like not being motivated enough to open a birthday present.
But yeah I get self-conscious a lot and I feel that if I'm not in a sufficiently open mood to be properly grateful then I might as well wait a bit.
That being said... I'm totally a bot ;)

I actually think that someone might just mark is received days late to preserve their won:sent ratio for certain groups, they can still enter giveaways and have time to repair their ratio from a win, but I don't know if people actually do this.

Im usually pretty lazy while receiving games sometimes it takes me a few days if im not on pc, cant really activate them on mobile because my steam auto is on my computer, but usually there's isnt any issues, if the creator really needs fast receiving because of group ratio I will activate asap

Personally, I automatically assume that if I make a giveaway bots will enter. I do have some precautions though. I typically make giveaways lvl 4+ or for groups only. Getting to lvl 3 is easy, but it takes a bit more dedication getting to 4. Less leeches.
You can always use SGtools as well, though I haven't been using it in quite a bit.
I haven't specifically run into your issue before, but depending on how long it takes to take their key I would assume they are at work or away from their desk/phone/etc. If it takes too long though, a week, just send a re-roll ticket. I wouldn't worry too much.

I don't understand that behavior either and they almost always are people having a poor ratio and at time a poor behavior. I wouldn't say that they are botting, but it's a behavior I dislike as it makes it harder to reroll after a week for group giveaways as the others could have win the game in between.
Smartphone isn't an excuse to me either, the redeem button is there as well and if you're using Steam Guard like most people should do nowadays, don't tell me that you're never using your phone for Steam and you cannot click on redeem and claim your key. If then the excuse is you cannot thank people properly, does it also mean that you never texted ? Seriously, this is really a bad excuse for such behavior and if you really can't use your phone for some reasons for 2mn, there is always the evening and hours of break and is even less justifiable when you continue to join GA.

Let's say it this way....
I see a very common behavior with the people that don't activate the wins for many days but are each day, multiple times, on and off, at sg and steam.
A big part activate the wins after 4 or 5 days. At their steam profile are, mostly, comments from other gifters that want(ed) that this person activate other wins, mostly they are low level users with a lot of wins and not much given games. It looks like "the real user come all few days around to see what his bot/scripts have farmed and to activate (or at least "collect" -sgtools show that partly very clearly with the not activated wins...-) the games.
It is often a "running behind them" that they please please please take their win, so in the end a lot of unneeded work for the gifter and for the support members + not really how it should run if you pay money and give something away.
If you make public Ga's with level 4 or better level 5 you see, very, clearly how much the ammount of such users drop and how the users are able to activate their wins in a more human, = different from one person to the next, way and not with the same "very similiar timeframe as they would be clones of each other" .
Besides that you see the same users write the "everytime same thanks messages everywhere and enter many Ga's at the same minute". Maybe only a coincidence for a part but for sure not for all.
All my tests in that directions brought me to the position that i assume that, the majority, are bad scripts or bot users and that say me that the bot detection at sg are bad -or the used scripts/bots are much better as 2 years ago...-.
Of course is each one free to have other thoughts....
Other ones made tests too and the same users join then 30 Ga's in under one minute (everytime they make GA's).
At least before the limitations from cg with the requests. I don't know if that changed something at that behavior stuff. I am not tempted to test it again.
Oh and in general i don't care if someone need 6 days to activate a win. My level don't raise from that, so i am not in a hurry. If it feels like the other person is a human that act there by himself and not with the boost of programs/bots/bad scripts and not feel like the 100th copy of user XYZ.

From time to time, you will find some winners won't reveal/receive their wins but still be actively online and entering new GAs, at least everyday.
I know that they have a week to receive it by the rule.
But I just don't get it if they can be online and entering new GAs, why not receive their wins.
Should I suppose that they may using bots or some automated tools/scripts to entering GAs?
Any idea?
