This is a public puzzle, if you solve a step feel free to post it below the main giveaway is for Day of the Tentacle If you are the first to discover a clue I'll check to see if I may add game from your wish list as a bonus giveaway (no promises, but I'm going to see what I can do)

Well then lets begin: Pungenday Bureaucracy 24th, YOLD 3184 16:12 GMT
This was the discordian date:Friday August 31st, 2018 4:12 pm GMT which pointed to an image on the SG discord server. Golwar,Beridok and EsE contributed to solving this step

On close inspection of the top left corner of the image goplayer7 discovered a hidden message a characters in binary that translated to or should have translated too darn discord 0yYGWn5F

The meaning of the code has been discovered, it was a pastebin link: https://pastebin.com/0yYGWn5F

The code "/s/yf0cj8n92qf6dlj/" was discovered in the pastebin

/s/yf0cj8n92qf6dlj/ lead to a drop box link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yf0cj8n92qf6dlj/puzzle.wav

this was Morse code: ..-. ..... --.- ... -.... ... ... -.-- --. ...- ..- . --- ...-- -.. -..
which translated to "F5QS6SSYGVUEO3DD"
F5QS6SSYGVUEO3DD is base32 for "/a/JX5hGlc"
/a/JX5hGlc lead to https://imgur.com/a/JX5hGlc

Here is a dropbox link of the image, hopefully this won't mess it up... the file should be 3,485 hb

So that's today, in 2 minutes. I thought that might lead to a further hint in a giveaway ending at that time, but there is none. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

According to http://calendar.discordipedia.org the date is:
Chosen date: Friday August 31st, 2018 = Pungenday Bureaucracy 24th, YOLD 3184
However, I have no idea how it is relevant to puzzle.

Edit: Possibilities...
Pungenday => 5 (friday) / 3 (Third day of week in Discordia)
Bureaucracy => 4 (Fourth season of the year.)
24 th => X / x (letter in alphabet)
YOLD 3184 => f or T = 20 => https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%E3%86%84
16:12 => ?

Well you did successfully translate the date, and identified what it was written in, perhaps someone else will figure out what it leads to

You misspelled "Tenticle" => "Tentacle"...
I doubt it's intentional.

Alright, I tried to figure out the point of the image on my own, but I'm stumped now. On the upper left hand corner, there is an 8 by 8 grid of some pixels being blackened out which I believe is binary for ascii for the code for a itstoohard puzzle [based on there being 8 rows].

To the best that I can tell the pixels read 0yYXWn5F, but that and its reverse are not a valid itstoohard. Maybe someone can see what I might be doing wrong? I'll post a close up of the grid if I can make it a bit cleaner.

Looks like discord distorted things a little it's was superposed to be 0yYGWn5F not 0yYXWn5F, but you did translate the clue properly, apologizes for the trouble

Well, if you haven't found by now the encoding wasn't a itstoohard link. On the discord we were talking about what other sites use 8 character encodings. Jon88 asked what pastebin used and I tried it out and found that it was a valid pastebin.

Join us in the discord if you are trying to solve it on your own, the hivemind will probably beat you.

Seems some text GLaDOS said in Test Chambers 00/01 but with some extra characters. Filtered out this seems to remain:

/s/yf0cj8n92qf6dlj/

And the original remaining text:

Hello and, again, welcome to the Aperture Science computer-aided enrichment center. We hope your brief detention in the relaxation vault has been a pleasant one. Your specimen has been processed and we are now ready to begin the test proper. Before we start, however, keep in mind that, although fun and learning are the primary goals of all enrichment center activities, serious injuries may occur. Nice find with the dropbox link. The translation is a bit off. but right for the most part, the end result shoud be ??QS6SSYGVUEO3DD with the question marks being the first two characters

Ooh nice find! Wasted some time on that and glad I stopped, cause nowhere I was near guessing it was a Dropbox link.. :P

With the feedback from Ceebers, when I'm running the audio file through https://morsecode.scphillips.com/labs/decoder/ it gives:

F5QS6SSYGVUEO3DD (16 characters)

But what to make of that.. hmm...

There are few possibilities again...
Either you are referring to yourself or the character on image, which is Turret from Portal
Or maybe the author of that graphic or original name.

Edit: Or Album name: Puzzling
Or some filename? Thread name?

On Discord Ceebers mentioned this step could be the hardest. The image is the same as the first one, attached are the highlighted differences (in pink). Nothing seems to be revealed by it.

It could also be some code/file that was encrypted into the image using Steganography, I tried revealing it using tools like S-tools, jstego, jpseek, StegSpy and websites Mobilefish and Lunapic but no luck so far.

Possible codes:

Turret

Sentry Turret

I'm using the attached images from your post above; the attached image was the result I got from https://www.diffchecker.com/image-diff to check the differences between both images from the OP (which I've uploaded to Discord then as image host :P). Hmm, now your comment makes me wonder if I was on to something there...

After saving avatar.jpg with max quality on Photoshop, it takes around 400 kbps, not 513 kbps...
Something's hidden there inside, but .RAR and .ZIP doesn't seem to work.

Using http://mark0.net/onlinetrid.html to analyse the original file from Discord (avatar.jpg), it says:

Match Ext File type MIME type
55.56% JPG JFIF-EXIF JPEG Bitmap
33.33% JPG JPEG bitmap image/jpeg
11.11% MP3 MP3 audio audio/mpeg3

These results are also what I get for other random jpg files.

Using some tools on imgops (like exif) doesn't seem to reveal any EXIF data..

The "error analysis" tool from imgops does give an interesting result though, I've attached it. But what does it mean? Perhaps nothing..

As for the file with "My name is the key" from imgur (h85n0M7.jpg), the result is:

Match Ext File type MIME type
75.00% JPG JPEG bitmap image/jpeg
25.00% MP3 MP3 audio audio/mpeg3

Again, these results are also what I get for other random jpg files.

Doesn't reveal anything either (imgops), the error analysis tool doesn't reveal anything on this either.

Also I've been ignoring the sound file discovered before, this seems to be just a wave file.

Match Ext File type MIME type
50.05% WAV RIFF/WAVe standard Audio audio/wav
49.95% Generic RIFF container application/octet-stream

I generated a spectrum file for it, nothing got revealed from it - I've attached it.
Also tried some tools to extract hidden stuff inside WAV files, like DeepSound and steghide, but also without luck.

Signing out for now again.. 😞

So I was asked to recheck my puzzle, I redownloaded the picture and saw it was now 90% smaller... after I uploaded it I did download it and make sure it kept the file the same, and it was working right after I uploaded it (I have the logs to prove it) So yeah I don't know what happened exactly, but appoligies to those frusterated, I'll upload a copy to Dropbox, as they won't mess with it

So.. with the new file results came quick :33:

Running it thru StegSpy revealed:

Steganography found at marker position 125335
Hiderman program detected!

Analysing the file:

Match Ext File type MIME type
29.99% MPO Multi-Picture Object bitmap application/octet-stream
26.68% JPG JFIF JPEG bitmap image/jpeg
20.00% JPG JPEG bitmap image/jpeg
16.66% MP3 MP3 audio (ID3 v1.x tag) audio/mpeg3
6.67% MP3 MP3 audio audio/mpeg3

Next step: trying to decrypt!

Alright, I've managed to decrypt the file, using the program steghide with password Ceebers.

This revealed the file clue.txt with the following contents:

00111000 01010111 01010110 01010000 00110011 01001100 00110101 00111001

Converting this to text gave the code 8WVP3L59 (8 characters), which looks like a Jigidi:

Attached the orginal Jigidi result too, there was no message at the end.

Edit: Ah, I see.. :P Good speedhack -- well at least we gained that there was no message by me making it then.

And now, ordered the numbers by following the rainbow colors: 47 113 119 79 85 114 47
Considering it's ASCII code, it should be pretty easy to find the giveaway link from now on. :3
