There's an annoying bug in the link parser. If the link's description happen to contain an URL, then this is used as the link instead of the actal link content.

For example, if I type this:

I get this: http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/weX1V/adventurer-manager

When clicked, the link doesn't point to the Bad Rats giveaway as it should.

Unfortunately, cg is pretty much the only one who can do anything about it.

i always thought it was some security measure to prevent people posting full links and pointing them to another url.

anyway, if you remove the http part, it will show the description you want

www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/weX1V/adventurer-manager

I assumed the same. I noticed it in a thread I made some time ago where I wanted to post the store page for Race the Sun as the visible link but have a giveaway hidden if you clicked on it.

EDIT. In fact your suggestion is the same as what I did to fix it IIRC.

That's what I did in my latest train.

It used to worked right though, on SGv1. I'm guessing either since we can just type in a URL and it gets linkified, that's screwing with links, or it was a security measure that was added.

At least, the problem doesn't manifest itself with linked images. So it's just hyperlinks themselves which are at fault.

Oh, let's hope cg finds time to fix this. In the meantime maybe some stabbing would do, otherwise I'm afraid we are lost.

It seems the parser first transform the link between the '[ ]' in an actual link, resulting in a void description for the second link '[](http://www.link.save.zelda)'. Never realized about that problem D:

You will only notice it if you're trying to make a puzzle using links that shows one thing but lead to a different one. I've succesfully used that technique a few times in the past, before cg added automatic conversion of links. This bug almost screwed up my latest train until I found a workaround (eliminating the http:// at the beginning of the displayed link)

As long as I'm reporting an issue with the site, might as well make it interesting. :D
