What kind of games do you like?

Personally I really like the Total War series (especially Rome, Medieval 2 and Rome 2). I also really enjoy the Assassin's Creed series. If you like heavy metal, you might want to try Brütal Legend. And if you are interested in more recent AAA games, Star Wars Battlefront is great.

Take a look at Dirt Showdown. It's a high action, fast paced racing game. It's a pretty cool game, although the singleplayer campaign is not too long (but it is also not expensive, I picked it up below €5 in a sale (on steam)).

The first one is one of my all time favourite games. The second one is alright, but it scaled back some of the things that I really liked about Majesty 1.

Majesty is somewhat similar to Dungeon Keeper in that you don't have direct control of your units. They'll wander around and do their own thing, which may or may not be what you want them to do. Unlike DK you can't pick up your creatures, and you can't directly influence where they'll be, instead you need to treat your units as if they were characters in a D&D game, i.e. bribe them to do things. This is done by placing reward flags, and the more gold you put into the reward flag, the more likely your units are to do something about it. Bigger enemies require more gold (a giant rat is not particularly dangerous, and thus your units are likely to attack them for even a very small amount of gold, dragons on the other hand are very dangerous and might require a big reward). Your units have personalities, based on their profession. A paladin is likely to seek out evil and try to slay whatever evil creature might roam the lands, while a thief is more interested in gold, and might even steal from you (but they are easy to bribe). Wizards enjoy spending time in the library, where they'll learn new spells, but on the other hand, they won't do anything productive on the map and won't level up while doing so (units get experience and get more powerful when doing things like fighting & exploring, and much like in D&D, the difference between a level 1 warrior and a level 10 warrior is huge).
The rest of the game is based around building a working economy, and protecting it from monsters and other dastardly elements. Here you'll build the typical fantasy village, with things like market places, blacksmiths and so on (and guilds that you can recruit heroes from).

Basically, Majesty is D&D seen from the perspective of the mayor (the typical person who acts as a quest giver in many RPGs, as there's always a goblin nest, or an orc camp or something like that nearby that they need help with).
The main thing that Majesty 2 does worse is that it removes a lot of personality from the heroes. While there is still a bit of it in there, the difference between a thief & a paladin is more in the stats than in how they actually act. And this just removes the main thing that made Majesty so special.

Yupp, That's one classic game I am sure many of us grew up with. Well depending on your choice then, "Garv" and "The Long Dark" should peek your interest. Or if you haven't played "Praetorians" in another option in older games and was on sale as well.

Mercenary Kings was bundled so you could probably get it for cheap from a trader. It's one of my all-time favorite side-scrolling shooters. Interesting and fun story, decent gameplay, weapon crafting and building is fun, overall a pretty good game.

I don't know if you like older games but I offer you a list of older goodies since a) they are cheaper b) I have played all of those and had really fun for tens of hours, even hundreds so the cost - time ratio is quite a bargain c) some of these aren't advertised anymore on the mainpage so you might have missed them. Also these games won't get DLCs anymore so you know that you get everything when you buy them. I won't write descriptions but all of the suggestions have their steampages linked so you do the research and see the videos / screenshots!

Dragon Age: Origins - Be sure to pick up a Ultimate Edition since it has all the DLCs and stuff. It will be cheap on winter sale, I suppose 5 - 7,99e / $ on Steam.
Darksiders I & II - If you up to some action with War and Death :) The second one got 'remake' just a month ago so enjoy a bit more streamlined experience.
Skyrim - Shouting trolls of the mountains is just enjoying. You must have heard of this game already though :D Mods make it even better!
Dead Island I & II - Zombie slaying for 1-4 players. Really hilarious in co-op, I assure you.
Dishonored GOTY - Be sure to buy GOTY since it will be cheaper with all the DLCs. They aren't just moneycraps, they offer much content.
Sribblenauts Unlimited & Unmasked - Don't let the screenshots fool you, really funny game with creative solutions to problems. You can even summon Cthulhu to aid you (or kill you), don't tell me that the game isn't great if you can summon Cthulhu in it!.

My personal favourite from this year is Navpoint. I found it incredibly addictive and definitely one of those "one more go" games. Its not without the odd bug but I didn't find that spoilt the game play.

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger every single person I've recommended it said it was a great fun. FPS
Europa Universalis IV was return to my childhood when I played similar game. STRATEGY
Mafia my personal favourite game. Every mission is so different you can't be bored. Unfortunately not on Steam. MAFIA = FPS, racing, stealth, great story

Max Payne Franchise: best story, best third person shooting, best everything.
World of Guns: Gun Disassembly: best puzzle ever made with real objects (yep, disassembly a gun is a damn good puzzle) it shows up as free but the content is paid (once you like it AND don't want to got credits by challenges, you can pay for it).
Far Cry 3: one of the best open world shooters that I ever played.
Zombie Army Trilogy: best of two worlds: sniper + zombies.
