My thought is that we should consider nominating Telltale Games as the "Developer of the Year" because this is their last year ever as a studio.
As an outpouring of Fan Love and Appreciation for all their years of great, good, and not-so-good games, lets nominate them this year. It will be, among other things, a nice pat on the back for them--audience applause, if you will.
On the other hand, I have become aware of some not-nice financial actions towards their now-former employees. Do what you will. (You were going to anyway. ,-P)

Alternates for me include Bethesda, Traveller's Tales (if I could figure out how to do so--they do not have a steam page), Bohemia Interactive, Irrational Games, Bioware, and CD Projekt Red.

Your thoughts?

Heh, I didn't see this until after I made my nomination, but I nominated Telltale as well for much the same reason. I still love their games, and I want them to be remembered.

I went with Arcen. They make such interesting, imaginative and unique games and provide long-term support for them. Plus they're struggling lately, so they could use some recognition.

Went with Hinterland studios for developers (The Long Dark).
They're always pushing out new updates and adding new content to the game.
Was considering Rocketcat games for Death Road to Canada, but they didnt appear when I tried to search for them :(

My vote went to Zachtronics. All their games have ratings over 90%.

I nominated Frictional Games, but I think it's a kind gesture to nominate Telltale Games.

I nominated 11 Bit Studios.
I'm a big fan of two of their games, both of which are still getting content (albeit This War of Mine getting its late), and I'm currently eyeing one of their games next now that I have money and it's on sale

I am surprised that nobody in this discussion picked Amplitude Studios.

I would have to wait until the most promising game comes out on November 30th before nominating anything

Why would you nominate Bioware, they haven't done anything this year. As for Bethesda they're far from the best currently.

Went with Team Cherry, the guys behind Hollow Knight, for their excellent post launch support, with several free "DLCs", and for just generally having made an outstanding game.

GGG hands down, in my opinion they maintain the best relations with their playerbase.

I like your pure thought behind voting Telltale, but I feel like it would come across too much like a sarcastic jab after everything. Also still distraught that TWAU S2 is no more ;-;

Guess I voted for Motion Twin. I really like how they handled early access, and considering they didn't have a cult fanbase like some other devs, the success of Dead Cells earns 'em the spot, I think. Hope to see more games from them.

I absolutely wouldn't go with Telltale, they possibly deserve worse developer of the year being that they fired so many people without a prior notice

Ubisoft.
For the simple fact of not following the same course, and improve (at least in the title I enjoy)
They have really improved, after the Unity fiasco, the last deliveries have surprised me a lot.

I don't think there's anything wrong at all with voting for Telltale. The actual dev team who created the games, which is what the reward is for are good devs. When voting you are really voting for them, not the people at the top like the investors.
