Will you consider the Epic Game Store your new default library?
That's a pretty fantastic lineup of games that have been free, is there a reason why people are so averse to using the epic launcher? I've been out of the loop for a while but if they're offering free games of this caliber, why don't more people use it?

i for one crave for achievements in games. It may sound absurd but it is what it is. Then with 1000+ games on steam, 20+ on origin and 50+ on gog. i am already have my hands full on these launchers so another one is just a chore. Moreover they jumped in late to the party as all are moving towards subscription based model. Most of my friends are into subscription based as the games once played or not played again most of the time due to new games and time constraints and digital goods don't hold sentimental values like physical ones. So they feel that in subscription based they play games they want and don't pay on the month they don't play. It may sound silly but remember netflix. Their model is successful.

For me epic is good.
I made the account for fortnite and put some money in it because of that game.
When they started to give free stuff, I gladly accepted.
There are some games I had in my wishlist and came free on epic giveaways.
Achievements (in games) mean very little to me, the money save means a lot much.
Now with gog2 I also enjoy a pretty decent library list that integrates all the platform, and the extra client means nothing in my pretty spacey hd.
Win-win.

It was reported in December of last year that the Epic Game Store client had over 85 million people using the store, so there's tons of people using it. Steam has about 90 million people just to give you some perspective.
If you are looking for reasons on why some SG community members don't use it there's a variety of reasons mentioned in the comments on why people don't, might be worth reading those if you're curious as to why.
Me personally, Steam is still my primary client and will be for a long time to come but I do use other clients including the EGS. I use the EGS mainly to play Dauntless and soon MTG Arena, but I do have a nice library of games listed above as well as The Walking Dead: A New Frontier and Final Season which wasn't available on Steam anymore and there was an extremely good discount for it. Exclusives seem to bother a lot of people on PC but I was originally a console gamer way before a PC gamer so I've been used to it for a long time. Many of the Epic store exclusives are just timed exclusives and the main thing is you can still play them on PC regardless of what client they are on.

Wow thank you for the excellent explanations! That fills in the gap really well for me, so very much appreciated!
At the end of the day, seems like there's no drawback in using EG if you're agnostic to game launchers

Dauntless is pretty fun, I enjoy it. Not sure if you've played Monster Hunter World or not but it's different than that. Monster Hunter World is an huge MMORPG with huge maps and tons of little and big monsters running around to kill, tons of quests and you can have a good amount of players in areas. Dauntless is more like an arcade monster hunting game with a small hub and you queue to go directly to fight the monster(s) with up to 3 other people. The combat feels better in Dauntless in my opinion, almost like a fighting game. It's definitely worth checking out. They just released new mode called Escalation that's pretty fun.
I sent ya friends request on Steam. I'm pretty well geared and do the end game content so I can help do runs and get you geared as well as give you some tips if you like.

Same I took the freebies myself otherwise haven’t really bought any games but there was one I was interested in that was an exclusive (Phoenix point) but after seeing videos of it I think I can wait, but one game I might end up getting thought that just released was the Detroit become human game heard good things about it from my friend on ps4 and since I have the x1 never got to play it till now that it is out on pc and after playing the demo it looked pretty good. I think Detroit would be the only David cage game I would get, the other two didn’t peak my interest.
I like others are not a big fan of so many launchers but at least with the other main two (besides steam) have a lot more features then what EGS has, think that really irks me is no shopping cart - like how can you open up a online shop with no cart.

In June Epic had said that the freebies would continue until "the end of 2019" Does anyone think they've decided to continue the freebies into 2020 or is this "12 days of free games" the last hurrah as it were and they'll end after the 12 days are up?

There is also a pretty aggressive sale on Epic Store.
I'm tempted by AC Origins Gold at 12€.

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw 8,74€
Subnautica Below Zero 6,79€
The Division 2 4,99€
Assassin's Creed Origins 4,99€
Assassin’s Creed® Odyssey 13,99€
Metro Exodus 9,99€
Not bad at all. I'm afraid Steam's sale will be so much worse.

3 months worth of free games at the end of the year plus 10€ discounts on >15€ games. Awesome. I think I'll wait until the end of the free period before buying something just to be sure it doesn't pop up in the free list. The good thing is the coupons are valid till May 2020 so let's see what's free first and then what is worth buying with the coupons. All in all, I'm pretty impressed with how Epic managed their free stuff campaign. Now if only I had enough free time to properly enjoy all these games that would be great. :)

12 Days of free games is pretty gud
Coupled with that you get no Steam Holiday Tokens when you use funds that were already in your steam wallet (wtf), and it costs 5000 Tokens for a mere 4,50 € coupon (only purchasable once) compared to Epics $10 coupon - i am sorry to say, but Epics Holiday Sale is miles better already.

Don't you get a second coupon after using the first!? Therefore why not just get both games?
Comment has been collapsed.
You will get another coupon after the first purchase, but out of those 2, I'd go with Heavy Rain for value. It's more of a heavily interactive story, so know what you're going into, but I really enjoyed it.

Wow! That's a great deal. "Normal" price for me is $60, and after 33% discount is $40.19. If everything I've heard about Control is true I imagine it's worth the $30, but then again I have so many unplayed games in my library I could probably hold out until it releases on Steam.

You know, I was trying to deside what I should buy on the steam sale and then I remembered that epic is going to give 12 games and there's a chance they end up giving one of the things I want so I guess I gonna need to wait before pullling the trigger.
