Will you consider the Epic Game Store your new default library?
You can ask for a refund if you played less than 2 hours and bought the game less than 2 weeks ago. Steam refunds are nice like that

Most people who bought Surviving Mars, probably bought it through Humble Monhtly, in which case there isn't any refund. Also, unless Epic also includes all DLCs, this game is like a DLC trap. Meaning, if it's gonna be more than just trying it out a few hours, you also need the DLCs (or the season pass), which cost more than the base game.

I would not call it DLC-Trap.
The basic-game is enough to have some hours fun with it.

I thought as much (humble monthly) but there may have been a slight chance they bought it via steam and I saw the user had 0 hours on it so far, worth a shot of letting them know :)
Haven't played the game myself but my brother loves it. Are the DLC's that good ? - just curious :)

The Green Planet add on is a great additon to the late game.
The Project Laika DLC is not worth it by itself.
Space Race is okay but also not needed.
I played the game for 30h in the xbox game pass and after I won it here I bought the season pass for 20€ and have another 16h in it.
I'll prob. play this game in the next few years for ~100h so for me that was okay.

Thanks for the advice, looking forward to trying it out then...and probably end up buying the dlc on sale :D

Thanks a lot for letting me know but i cant refund it. I dont mind it actually as long as the game is good. Same case happened with mutant year zero. I bought it from humble and before i find the time to play it it was free on Epic.
Actually i just started playing mutant and i love it eventhough its my first turn based games and i didnt have many expectations to like it. Its a great game but a bit hard. Considering how much i like it i am happy that my money are well spent even if it was free. I am sure that will also be the case with surviving mars as the free games of Epic are really good for the most part.
PS From what i have read the dlcs for surviving mars arent anything spectacular so if you want to save some money it wont hurt your ingame experience.

I've noticed the similarities as well but I think it's more to do with the developers of those games cashing in. I've got xbox pc game pass and noticed the exact same games listed there as well:
ABZU
Enter the Gungeon
FEZ
RiME
Oxenfree
Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden
Moonlighter
Thimbleweed Park
Surviving Mars
And those are only the similarities between gamepass and Epic freebies, if you throw in humble monthly then the overlap is even bigger. These storefronts and subscriptions seem to offer the devs a good amount of cash and makes for good competition (which seems to be a good thing for us, the customers) But in turn makes our choice as what to buy/subscribe to even harder when we notice a better deal a few weeks later

So I finally got around to actually installing and playing one these freebies, the experience using the client has been ok so far, I definitely miss achievements tho.
BTW, Celeste is brilliant, so far one of the best 2D platformers I played. Wasn't expecting to it to get this hard this fast, and I'm loving it, can't wait to see what it asks from me in the later levels. It's so satisfying when I get one of the harder strawberries.

Space Race is one of the bigger DLCs and a good add-on

Hm.. Observer, qube 2, layers of fear, alan wake.. And looking back bunch of other games too
All the games humble either has had for free, in trove or in monthly..
Not that I dont appreciate free games, but arent these basically scraps left after humble has had a turn with them ? :D

RU page of Layers of Fear show me error. If someone have same issue try different region i.e. en-US
Upd: Some regions also affected with error with Layers page.

Thank you very much! Had the same problem here in germany. Changing the region worked just fine :)

Soma and Costume Quest next week.
Soma was "free" on Twitch before
I would give Soma 8/10 if you like such games.

It was an up and down the whole year so I don't think so.
Guess the week later will be better again.

That was my thought. They were obviously never going to do this forever - it's a way to get the Epic store off the ground - and it feels like it's winding down. Sort of like how Origin's On The House wound down eventually. I imagine it will keep going and there may be a few more bright spots, but it's gonna keep getting worse and then start slowing down before being quietly discontinued.
