Well. Another of the obligatory posts that I miss on SG.

For this sale I found:

SUPER MEAT BOY - $1,50
THOTH - $0.99
Half Life - $0.99
Portal - $0.99
Super House of Dead Ninjas - $0.69
REFUNCT - $0.98
Princess Remedy 2 - $0.50 (you can try the first one for free)
Escape Goat - $1.24
Mini Ghost - $0.79
MURI -$0.51 (very good Apogee style platformer)
LOVE - $0.74
Commander Keen - Complete Pack - $1.24
Wizorb - $1.01

Any others?

EDIT: Your recommendations with the original comment

  • A real hidden gem that deserves more attention.
    SQUIRM - $0.59

  • I love roguelikes so I am biased, but this one is fun. I have played it 6 hours, which for 60 cents is one helluva deal.
    DungeonUp - $0.49

  • iI is cheap enough now that I will likely take a chance on it. :)
Vampire The Masquerade Redemption - $1.50

Yes, but I wanted one only for the cheapest (and good games). Of that list only The Fidelio Incident applies, and maybe Alien Vs Predator if we stretch it to 1.50, as I did with Super Meat Boy

That thread sucks for people who are looking for very cheap (but still good) games.

It did not age well. Even with the patch, it's still clunky and dated. Without the nostalgia factor, I do not recommend this game.

Wesp also made one for Redemption? Aren't you confusing it with Bloodlines, a classic?

You are correct. Wesp's patch is for Bloodlines. I don't know the creator of the patch for redemption.
edit: Renee La Troue is the creator of the unofficial patch for Redemption. For some reason, I thought it was Wesp as well.

I loved it back then, and I knew nothing about Storyteller RPG back then. Still, was pretty fun at the time, had a somewhat good singleplayer campaign. Combat was simple but rewarding, and it was nice to start in middle-ages then continue later to present time with firearms and all. Best tip I can do from my second playthrough: if you can suck an enemy's blood, it's the best weapon against them in combat, as if I remember correctly, you not only recover your blood, but also makes you invulberable while doing that, and also kills the enemy if you dry them. That's what I remember, haha! Of course, avoid killing civilians (specially that way), or your character can go nuts and you get a game over (losing all your humanity).

I would prefer getting that game on GOG. They do a better job of modifying older games to be playable on modern OS.

The Basement Collection 0.49. Featuring the original Meat Boy, Time Fcuk and a few other Flash games, along with half a fuckton of bonus content.
Out There Somewhere 0.39. Fits the bill even outside of sales, a short but very fun puzzle platformer.
Polarity 1.29. A firrst-person puzzler. Not really worth it at full price, but often on sale with a 90% discount - and that's selling itself short really.
Super Crate Box 0.00. Hah! Joke's on you. It's always been free. Still, I've not plugged in a long time, so might as well do it now. Because it's good.

but recommend shit games isn't bad??? it's easy just order using the steam store for find the games of less than 1$ but only a few of them are good, so why recommend all games of under 1$ when you can order the steam store?? it's not logic.....

I'm gonna recommend the same game as in the other thread: The Perils of Man as it's also $0.99/€0.99,

Also have a look at those fancy filters in Steamdb - filtered for games with 80% positive rating and $1.5 maximum price at a minimum discount of 50% (you can tweak the numbers, but that would probably give you a few ideas for good games around 1 buck).

It sure looks cool, that's why I mentioned it. Even if it turns out to be a bit short or shallow, it should be worth one dollar (if you like Click & Point games, that is). I'll already planned on getting it later on and we'll see whether I'm done with the sale or not, depending on how much Steam wallet I can squeeze out of those summer sale mysterious cards. Without flash deals it's all pretty boring anyway, so I usually stock up on wallet first and see what I'm going to buy in the last few days of the sale (if anything).

It's a bit far north of $1 for this thread, but I can't second Dark Messiah hard enough. It's a fantastic game, even all these years later. Sure, it's not as impressive visually as it once was, but the first person melee combat still stands head and shoulders above most games to attempt such a thing. Plus, the physics and hazards make for a lot of amusing moments. Also, rope arrows! Who doesn't love rope arrows?!

Thank you for this thread, popocho. I was waiting for it! Here are my suggestions:

  • The Fidelio Incident - 0.99$. Great walking simulator with stunning visuals. The story is kinda short, but that's definitely a must buy at this price.
  • The Mind of Marlo - 0.59$. A little funny point-and-click adventure game.
  • All You Can Eat - 0.49$. A point-and- click adventure presented as an interactive comic!
  • Tell Me Everything - 0.49$. A text-based short-story adventure game, with a word-puzzle on top.

SanctuaryRPG: Black Edition , Text/ASCII roguelike RPG with fun combat system and humorous story. I've played it long time ago and I've put over 20 hours into it. Would play it more if I didn't have huge backlog. Definitely worth 0,79€.

LYNE (0,89€) , One of my favorite puzzle games. Enjoyed it a lot until I reached ridiculous levels then I dropped it.

Cold Fear (1,24€) , Horror game on a ship that kinda feels like a resident evil game. I played this long time ago off-steam and even though I didn't end up finishing it I quite liked the game. I'll buy it on steam one day to beat it properly, once I get my backlog in control (yeah.. I know...)

Mirror (0,99€) , Ecchi (Hentai with patch) match 3 VN with apparently decent story and interesting girls. Overwhelmingly positive with 9,763 reviews speaks for itself. I'm going to buy it myself this sale.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Someone recommended Mirror to me, and I picked it up because it was dirt cheap and because match-3 with RPG-lite elements is my kind of casual.

As a match-3 game, I thought it was really good. The system makes sense, it starts out easy and progressively gets more difficult, and there's a nice sense of progression with the upgrades / skills / items you can buy. It is strangely addictive, the way good match-3 games with RPG-lite elements are.

As a VN... well, let's just say I was not prepared. Whoever claimed it had a decent story has clearly never come across a decent story before. The story - or stories, really, as each character has their own independent story - is on the level of bad fan fiction, and is machine translated to boot (and seems to get worse as you go through the stories). And the erotic content... as I said, I was not prepared. It seems very focused on the sadism part of BDSM - and heavily featuring non-consent, sexual assault, and even rape - in addition to including a grab bag of other less mainstream kinks (lactation, tentacles, squirting, impregnation, demons bursting out of your stomach). These are not my kinks, so I found the VN portions disturbing (some stories much more than others).

You are a very wise person, my respect. I had a strict budget before too but nowadays so little games interest me that I am still working with my monthly budget from November last year. I must admit that I would not have been strong enough to resist a 1 dollar game I wanted because of this budget. Power to you!
The only policy I still have is "don't buy any game with less than 75% discount" so I have to wait till next sale to finally get What Remains of Edith Finch I guess. Leaving me with no games bought this sale. So definitely keeping an eye on this tread who knows what shows up.

The base version was one of the three games I spent over 1000 hours on as a kid. The game has now been updated for 64-bit, a second campaign has been added, and it is still absolutely great! (If the steam version cannot be bought in your region, you can also find it on GOG.

This one is sooo good! (I never did get into 3, mostly because I preferred the isometric-style approach of RRT2 to the isometric-until-you-really-zoom-in-to-third-person approach of RRT3 I initially disliked Civ IV for the same reason)

ah? I never played RT1, mainly due to it being DOS, and my being ignorant of it until after I was engrossed by RT2. My favorite iteration (especially with over 5GB of the zipped form of mods--Hurrah for Balancer Reloaded!) is Civ 3 Complete. Civ 4 has some very nice features, but I never spent the time to get extremely drawn into it. I should check it out again.

And Civ 5 Complete is only around $12. maybe i should check it out! drools
