In my honest opinion, KOTOR 2 wasn't nearly as good as KOTOR, I didn't enjoy it as much. But yeah, it's cool that they finally put it up on Steam, it will probably make some people happy.

Yeah, KOTOR II was released as an unfinished product and riddled with even more bugs than KOTOR.

As movac has said, Restored Content Mod adds a lot of the missing/cut/unfinished stuff back into the game and I'd highly suggest it. (p.s. that's a lovely painting you have as your picture movac! did you restore it yourself? :p)

Better mechanics, less story and too much unfinished content.

Really? I actually found the story to be a lot more enjoyable. KotOR's pretty generic action adventure stuff. KotOR II put work into it.

It is to me because it's like you play each new planet as totally unassociated chapters with no event repercuting in any way on the others. While there are many well made events, the fact that there is no link and somewhat of a mess due to the unfinished materials makes the game less than what it should be / have been.

Fair enough. It's been a long time since I've played and I do have bias because it was the first RPG I ever got my hands on. I remember a few minor events based on my actions on another planet but I only remember a few minor events in KotOR too. It's the overall melancholy and character exploration of the story that made it what it is for me, over KotOR's standard adventure (a damn good adventure but pretty standard nonetheless, barring the twists).

True that nostalgia factor can't be underestimated.

In my dishonest opinion KOTOR 2 was much better, because it came in a box and I got it on an infinite loan from a friend while KOTOR is just a virtual copy on Steam.

I was about to post this.
Does anybody know if this steam release is at least somewhat patched, and compatible with the restoration project mod? I'd love to play a more complete version of this awesome game.

Unlikely. It's probably the final official patch, so you'd have to manually download the fixes.

Alright .. nice! I might buy both the games when they go on sale for $4.99.

Its the same with Fallout3 and New Vegas. Both Sequels are from Obsidion and are other games. I would say Story is better in KotOR2 and New Vegas but gameplaywise they are not that great.

But Kotor2 is still worth to play.

At last, now I can get the game, install the mod, and play a great game. And just to think many people were going to suggest this game to Greenlight too.

Remove the spoiler before you get suspended.

Edit: Thanks. Not only are spoilers not allowed full stop, it's an even bigger dick move when this is going to bring in an entirely new audience.

Yes! Silent Storm... it's all great until you face... well, you know what (if you played). From that point lovely game starts being ridiculous.

And Homeworld, sniff, I spent so much time playing it. Would I play it again? Don't know. But I would definitely buy it just to have this great game in my inventory so I could stare at it's title and smile.

I like Silent Storm, even with you know what. Yeah, it's definetly absurd, but what really bugged me about you know what was not the fact that it was ridiculous, but the fact that they were not very useful. I always played without them.

I just started playing the first one about an hour before it got released on Steam, lolol
I usually don't enjoy this sort of games too much, but I liked it so much that I've just quit a playing session of 5 hours without a break :P
So yeah, I'm definetly gonna get it asap :D

How much more would you say? If I'm going to bug my friends until one is pissed off and wants to shut me up (I really should look into some way to buy the occasional Steam game without me spending all my money buying crap online until back in debt), I should find out what I'm getting. I found the mod you mentioned, but the features page for it seems to be non existent.
