Hello, just wondering what fellow SG'ers like to play?

I feel lucky that, since joining SG, I've been able to win a few games in several different genres that I would have never tried out (or even heard of ) otherwise.

So, here's a fun poll for you all! (Or you can just leave a comment with what Genre you choose, and even qualify it, e.g.:

Story-Rich
Exploration
Sandbox
Fantasy
Sci-Fi
Gothic
)

What is your most favorite game genre? (I.e. if you had to spend limited cash on a bag full of games, that's what you would choose over any other genre!)

RPG, Turn Based Strategy, Shooters in that order I suppose. Grew up in the days of Eye of the Beholder, Neverwinter nights, Baldurs gate generation so I played those games a lot. In terms of hours played, would be close between rpg and MMO's due to World of Warcraft which I have sunk thousands and thousands of hours into. I am not that fussy with games as long as they're fun.

I've played those games too! Loved them!

(I had stopped WoW after I realized it felt more like a Life Simulation game to me. Real life is a lot of work as it is, having to do both a Real and Sim life -- impossible for me! Alas, WoW had very nice gameplay feel I wish all games had. :)

When you're leading raids, it was definitely more work than fun at times due to recruiting as well as keep people in check. However, the vanilla World of Warcraft which I played with my brother was really good fun and its completely cookie cutter now to the point where the game almost at times feels like it plays itself.

3D platforming games; old school collectathons are my shit but I guess "parkour' is the genre that type of thing evolved into and I still love them.

Probably a 4X or (A)RPG game bundle. But since most of the categories have both good and bad games I voted for HOG, then I at least know what I get and as long as the puzzles are functional they can be OK even if the story is crap.

Story/lore-rich third person action adventure with strong RPG elements, rewarding various playstyles in a sci fi setting .. and optional mmo integration.

Now if I somehow could add arcade racing in there, it would be nearly the jack of all trades device for me. :D
Oh, and ofc voted for potatoes.

Anything that I consider good really, an it mostly comes down to games with fun and meaningful gameplay mechanics. It would be much easier listing what I don't play :)

How could you leave out puzzle games is beyond me. It's literally the most classical genre apart from "action" (represented by Pong).

Rich story, deep customization (the type that makes every walkthrough feels different from the other) and lots of exploration, if any of you know any games like these that I do not own feel free to let me know!

1.Hack'n'n'slash RPG's like Torchlight,Titan Quest or loot'n'shoot like Borderlands series
2.Good FPS with a decent story like F.E.A.R. or Dishonored
3.TPS with horror elements in it like Dead Space or Resident Evil
And lastly good racing games like TDU2,Race Driver Grid,Burnout Paradise

But my MOST beloved games of ALL times is Vampire:The Masquerade-Bloodlines.I finished that games many times(just vanilla),then Final Nights mod & Antitribu mod.All in all,I finished that game over 20 times

Racing ... unfortunately nobody of my friends really play racing games ... the only exception was grid 2 because it was so cheap

I am a sucker for hack 'n' slashes, and pretty much all RPGs. Even that grindy JRPG bullshit I'll eat up cold, stale or reheated. As they usually are.

But I think none of my favourite games of all time fit into those genres anyway, so in the end it really doesn't matter to me, apparently. I have zero integrity 🤷

Turn based, squad based tactical strategy. Games like X-Com: UFO defense, Jagged Alliance 2, Fallout Tactics, Silent Storm, Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate and Xenonauts. Unfortunately there aren´t that many games in the genre and good ones and few and far between.
