Iphone 5 or Samsung Galaxy s3 ?

Neither. LG Optimus G is a beast of a phone. The new HTC One coming out soon looks boss too. Not a big fan of either of your choices. Windows Phones arent bad eithe.

Win 8 is hell ugly imo, lol. I keep thinking they are trying to make an ugly version of Mac with it instead of keeping it Windows ....

I don't think the windows phones are anything "special" when it comes to phones. They are simple and work well enough, but they are also limited and personally I don't like the interface.
Which is odd because I run windows 8 and actually like the start menu, just seeing all my stuff right there when i boot up (news, apps etc).
But keep in mind that on desktop it's not at the cost of customizability, on the phone it is.
When it comes to making your phone do anything and look any way android is the one and only king.

I'd go with Apple just because I got used to them already and I enjoy it. I'd wait for the new iPhone later this year tho.

Why not S3? It's too big for me and Apple has hell good app collection which is not always transferable to Android. Also you are sure anything on the app store will work with your phone if you have some of the latest generations. While with Android you'll be limited to certain things depending on whether you have an Xperia or a Galaxy or a HTC or something else. More brands, more phones, more bugs.

They have roughly the same amount of apps now. Both have their exclusives, but 99% of apps can be found on both either in a very similar app or from the same exact company.

Of course S3. Apple is so overrated and it's also a crap.

About waht mm3n say, Something it's true. Yet SG3 is one of the most powerful Android on the markets right now. It will smoothly run almost all apps.

Android is also a Free-Software and highly customizable without need of Root. ROot still makes it waayy better.
iOS is literally crap. And the only way to make it look "Good" it's with Cydia.

I totally always go for Android.
