Ah, after reading hint 2 now I know why I couldn't get that something to work in the first picture. But after that I'm stuck. I tried everything I could think of with the second picture. I zoomed it and carefully took a look at everything. Tried editing it in gimp. Tried opening it in notepad. Even went to the imgur's page for that picture. Just can't find anything at all.

There is no way that second letter is lowercase. The third character is not a number. All my attempts to interpret them as such yield "Page not found."

I actually got an IP address blocked while trying to figure out the handwriting. Never seen the number written that way in the U.S., and there were other issues as well, that caused me to try a (small) brute force. That contributed to the OP adding the hint.

Yes, I am serious. It's on zelgh's puzzle guide, it's a way of solving puzzles one might consider when attempting to solve one on SG. I've seen a bunch of puzzles with that method. Also a few people did manage to think of it.

I found picture with two guns, then found clue and this clue give me code (I hope correct code).

I recognized this was a stock image, so I found another copy in the same size (on a wallpaper site) and substracted it. That yielded a more or less black image, which I then used GIMP's threshold detector on.
Only after that did I futz with the monitor enough to be able to see it without the processing.

It is strange that some people have to resort to image processing in order to see it. I can see it with my bare eyes, even if I take a picture of my screen with my shitty phone, the text is visible to me.

I can confirm, I'm unable to identify the text at all without some form of post-processing in either the original image or the picture with your phone. I can't speak for the others, but I'm legally blind, that likely has to do with it.

Because the values are so low, it's going to really depend on the display, and especially on how well the bias voltage is tuned. On my main laptop (bought for its CPU more than its display), it was pretty much invisible at my normal viewing angle.

Another reason you can see it is because you know it's there. Your hint on imgur that said "look at the background and maybe greyscale will help" or something like that had me confused for a while and lead me down the garden path.

Well, no, I can see it because I can see it. Will it come to my mind to look in that specific place with particular attention, however, is a different story, I'll agree on that. But In a puzzle where people have to investigate images... again, one might expect this kind of trick. Everyone should know something is there. It's not my job to hold your hand and tell you "hint : look at the gun, and make sure your monitor and your eyes are functional".

Look at the image on imgur's page. That's done by removing the "i." and ".jpg" parts of the url. That's what I was referring to. I'm on mobile, otherwise I'd link it.
And btw, I never said you should have "hold our hands and tell us what to do". I was just saying that you knew were to look because you put it there and there's no denying it because that's just how it works.

Someone did manage to add the text to the image. I just checked, logging out of imgur and there's nothing a random viewer can do. I log back in and there are these options. I am able to edit out this text and remove it.
Anyway, I swear, I didn't do it, there's no logic at all in this. Someone made an attempt at getting help, but I wonder how they accessed the options to edit it.

Firstly, imgur has a tendency to often mismatch titles and the posted image itself. It's not common but it does happen from time to time.
Secondly, even if there are misleading hints in a puzzle, it can't be accused of being unfair because you're supposed to use your brain to figure things out.

If you've spent too much time on this picture I'm certain your face started looking like the one in it. Sorry about that, some people like it challenging and I had to change my method a bit.
There's a reason why this picture is not hosted on a "regular" image hosting site. Putting it on such sites will slightly modify it and strip it from informations that might have been hidden, for instance, secret text written in the data of the image.
