Welcome to day seven of the Steam Awards! :) Yesterday's vote did go to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, just like the day before. This time it won almost by half of the votes: 48% (175) of the 362 votes went to the game. Since you cannot vote for it today, we will have a new result for sure ^^

Day 7: The “I’m Not Crying, There’s Something In My Eye” Award

Games are fun. But sometimes games become more than that, and touch you in a way you weren’t expecting. This award celebrates the game that blindsided you emotionally. You weren’t expecting to cry. It wasn’t in the plan. But it happened nonetheless.

Im the only one around here who didnt felt anything when playing Life Is Strange?

Nope, I was thinking the same thing. It was a cool game but I didn't feel enough connection with the characters to be sad at the end. Probably because I'm not a teenage girl? But I played brothers - a tale of two sons, soon after that and something definitely caught a little in my throat at the end, it should have been on this list rather than some of the other nominees.

Or maybe because you saw these teenagers characters in a billion of movies.

Yeah maybe? They were not very deep characters. Everyone was pretty much a paper thin cliche. The awkward but cool protagonist, her rebellious friend, the nerdy friend-zoned guy, the bitchy rich girl, the goody two-shoes who has a wild moment and gets mercilessly teased, the rich bully, the waitress with a heart of gold. etc. etc. So the actual game mechanic was cool, and I did enjoy it but when the emotion is conveyed through badly written characters, I switch off.

I agree about Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons, it's the only game ever that's actually made me shed a few tears.

Yeah and it did that without even using words I understood. That to me shows good storytelling. The gameplay mechanic of using the two sides of the controller to control the brothers was also brilliantly integrated. And then at the end when you have to use the older brothers button to help the younger swim even though he wasn't there, damn that hit hard

Even at the end of episode 2, one the roof with Kate? I've voted for Life is Strange because of that episode, the end of the game wasn't really emotional for me as well.

This time, I have three of the games and that made voting more difficult than usual. But in the end it went to The Walking Dead.

So your voting is also better than usual then? Less trailers/descriptions to check out (if you even bother to do that in other cases xD)

Or worse:) So far, all games are enough known, so basically I'm familiar with them. But one thing I know for sure it was definitely more difficult to vote because I played three of the games and they are heavy in their own way.

i truly loved the walking dead season one, but i'm voting for life is strange this time :)
bump!

So, the rabid fanbase of Undertale pitted against the masses who still remember something about Life is Strange being emotional and most likely not even recalling the other games.
This can be interesting.

I'm planning on playing that game in the near future, now from your and other comments I'm a bit scared that it will be a emotional game. Anyway, I'll make sure to have some handkerchiefs ready ^^

i own 4 of these 5 (if you count the life is strange episode 1 i got before it was free) but haven't played any of them yet, so i voted the one i've heard the most good things about.

so far, the best "award", where each of the nominees deserves to be there (except, maybe, undertale)
Even though it's neither the best game, nor the biggest tear-jerker of the bunch, I voted for This War of Mine as I think it's an important game that everyone should play.

Actually I did this for some of the games xD If you only vote on what you have played/know, your not doing a good job? :)
The trailer you linked was a teaser by the way, I got goosebumps from watching it, what a great sound track!

I still do every time. One of the most beautiful teaser / trailer i know. But that aside, i don't even know most games that one can vote for :/

I had the same with some previous awards, but this time I have played two of them (Life is Strange and This War of Mine). The rest might be for my wishlist. ^^

About the teaser trailer, maybe you'll like the song as it is, find it here:
