Hey mate, it seems the giftlinks are traced indeed, but in my experience you should be fine by redeeming the link yourself and attaching/sending the steam key.

I've done the same. Use the gift link yourself. HB will ask if your sure. Then when you redeem the gift sent to you, its a steam key that you can now freely use.
edit. I do still click the gift link to check restrictions, but then cancel and get the key.

How would you get the actual steam keys to input in the key section without putting in a fake key? Because by now after the winner has claimed the link, YOU won't know what the key is.
The best we could do is to remove the first gift link part from all HB links and only keep the unique code at the end in all users' key histories. That would be great actually.

I'm not sure there really is any need for old giveaways. The link will have already been redeemed, and HB will know who redeemed it. I doubt they care who just visits the link - and anyway you'll just get a 'gift already redeemed' message.
You can revisit your giveaways and remove the link if you want. I think it unlikely that this removes if for the winner as well though.
Just use keys from now on. Resorting to gifting from Steam is a pain because of the 10% region difference, or you region restrict all you giveaways.

In light of the knowledge we have of H/B getting more aggressive of customers using this site, I have recently switched to gifting via Steam directly.
However, I was hoping to clean out old H/B links from completed giveaways, by way of updating the key to a gift, but this doesn't seem possible? Understandable I suppose. I just know from my minimal experience of coding and hosting that domains can track where visits come from. So I was hoping to purge any traceable links from my GA's.
I guess my suggestion to keep this on category, would be to add a way to amend this for H/B links.
