Hey everyone! Long ago (in a galaxy far away), I started a discussion where I decided to watch all of the Star Wars films for the first time. It took a while but I finally finished! I updated that thread, but still started this new one so that the giveaways don't get buried in all the text. It was a crazy amount of fun and I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you guys tagging along and making it an enjoyable experience.

You can find those reviews HERE. Including Rise of the Skywalker, which I just finished watching.

As a thank you for putting up with that post in your discussion for so long, here is a train of 63 giveways. They are all level 3.

TRAIN

Here is my final (and most likely controversial) list of favorite to least favorite Star Wars films based on my first watch!

  1. Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
  2. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
  3. Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi
  4. Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope
  5. Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
  6. Episode I: The Phantom Menace
  7. Star Wars: The Last Jedi
  8. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
  9. Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
  10. Solo: A Star Wars Story
  11. Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker

Thanks again and I hope everyone has a great week!

I didn't think any people would have started on Clone Wars, but I was wrong since a lot of people did!

I'm considering reading the books, thank you for the recommendations!

Congrats on watching all the films! I wonder if you're interested in watching the TV spin-offs, or playing some of the games? There are some gems for sure
Also thanks for the train, have a bump

I plan on doing both! I started the Mandalorian (just finished season 2) and I'm starting Andor and Boba Fett soon. I havent played any of the games. Do you have any recommendations?

Sure, some of the best games are a bit old, but they still are some fan favourites:

  • Star Wars Battlefront II (2005)
  • Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic I and II
  • Star Wars The Force Unleashed
  • LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga

There are also some more recent games which are also worth checking out:

  • Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
  • Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
  • Star Wars Battlefront II (2017)
  • LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

There are a lot more games that i didn't mention, otherwise this comment would be way too long lol

The favorite order list is alright!
Congratulations, now all that is left is 4 tv shows, 2 animated series, some 381 books and more or less 100 games. But its fine, theres like only 12 or so relevant games, and you could stick to the 100 or so best books...

Just joking ofc but given you put Rogue One at no2 i bet you will like the Andor series from Disney+
And since you game i can definetly recommend Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order(i imagine jedi survivor is also good), force unleased 1 and 2 and if you fancy rpgs and arent put off by old games graphics Kotor 2...

Thanks for the GAs!

I do plan on watching Andor soon! I've heard great things. Thank you on the game recommendations, I was actually confused on where I should start or what games are worth the trouble!

Nothing wrong with your list although everything about Star Wars is controversial to someone so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Rogue One is actually pretty underrated, I think, and you'll definitely enjoy Andor since it was written by the same team.

Funny story about Solo: A Star Wars Story. When I first saw it, I enjoyed it quite a lot. The action! The laughs! The Khaleesi!
But then I watched it again and realized it really kinda blew and probably me having Covid and a fever when I watched it the first time made it appear much better than it really was. My gf is actually to this day wondering if I saw it at all when I was sick or just started watching, fell asleep and made up the rest of the movie in a fever dream.

Can't wait for you to open a thread about the many tv shows of the Star Wars Universe now :D

I almost considered keeping that thread going with the shows but I didn't want to bother everyone. I'm very excited to tackle the tv shows next!

It definitely was. But I don't really trust myself to be objective XD

Speaking only for myself but reliving my enthusiasm with the movies through yours was really fun and even when you got disappointed, it was interesting to compare our experience. Don't feel like you have to though, it's a lot to write and you can just drop a line in a new thread to say "so I've seen <insert show> by now and I <insert related emotion> about it.

Your ranking is not controversial.

The first โ€œrealโ€ movie I saw in a movie theater was Return of the Jedi.

My ranking is:

  1. Empire strikes back
  2. A new hope
  3. Return of the Jedi
  4. Rogue one
  5. The force awakens
  6. Rise of the sith
  7. Clone wars
  8. The phantom menace
  9. Solo
  10. Caravan of courage
  11. Rise of skywalker
  12. Battle for Endor
  13. The last Jedi

I like your ranking! The original trilogy were so good, I can't wait to rewatch them. It's neat that everyone can have such a varied opinion on the films

Caravan of courage, Battle for Endor

Ive never heard of these. even if they are low on the list, I'll probably check them out!

They were two made for tv movies from the mid-80s.
Fun to watch once

My problem with the last Jedi is that it was uncoordinated and ignored or ruined a lot of the stories that the force awakens was building into. As a standalone movie itโ€™s better, but as party of the larger trilogy itโ€™s a mess.
Rise of Jedi likewise has problematic storytelling and seems to shoehorn in some bull and force in plot points

The sequel trilogy suffers from a lack of unifying vision and lack of a master plan.

The sequel trilogy suffers from being fanfiction since Disney opted not to use whatever outline or story arc Lucas had intended, thus destroying the unifying vision and master plan and likely preventing us from ever knowing how the saga "really" ended.

I donโ€™t care what Lucas intended. The force awakens was ok, and had a lot of potential. But Rian Johnson just ignored all that and did his own thing that he felt like doing, and nobody reigned him in.

Congrats! I'm still trying to get a rl friend to watch them ;(
Not sure in which order I'd put them exactly, but the first four would somehow also by my first four - in whatever order, couldn't decide ;( - and I totally agree on last place. The rest I won't even try to put in order, but the newest trilogy would probably loose a lot of sympathy here....

I would watch them in order that they were released. It's the way they were intended to be watched and you don't get some subpar movies to start with. Plus there are some easter eggs and story beats s you'll understand better if you watch them in release order.

Wow, so many giveaways, this is more like a train station than a simple train! Thanks so much!

If you liked Rogue One, chances are you will like / love Andor. In my opinion, it's the best Star Wars content ever created. But that's because it's simply a good story that happens to be set in the Star Wars universe.
