My 7 year old PC just got a much needed speed upgrade in the form of an SSD. (My first SSD ever I might add)
It only took my good friend MadNinja 2 years to convince me it would be worth it. (I'm a bit slow and also a cheapskate)

Feel free to post your scores but please only do so if your PC is slower than mine... Nah, I'll live but it will hurt my feelings if it's much, much faster.

Yeye whatever! didn't you say something about celebrating?

congratulations, what did you do with the drive you upgraded from? looks like you have two 1 TB drives that could go into raid depending on your use case

RAID is not for me... I don't have anything important on the pc except a few family photos (Note to self, I really should make a dvd or copy them to a flash drive) and I'd rather have 2 TB of storage space then a few sec faster load times, those new games sure does take up a lot of space.

Congratz! I just got a small SSD so far which stores my OS and up to two games. (everything else is stored on a 2TB HDD)
Might have to upgrade soon as well. I remember how I had to install/move "Path of Exile" on the SSD cause otherwise it became unplayable when the devs patched it for a new season. :(

That's awesome, congrats!! Feels amazing getting an upgrade eh? Enjoy. :D

In my head my pc is still pretty new, but just looked and it was actually back in 2014. Boy does time fly.

Ye, especially when it happens so rare. Like I said in the OP, it took 2 years to convince me... I like to give but am truly a cheapskate when it comes to buying for myself.

For some reason the older you get, the faster times fly by

I really wanna post my benchmark results cos I know my computer is super old, and I wanna brag about how (un)superior it is XD

Everything is practically old, apart from a 1TB SSD I bought a couple years ago - best upgrade ever, it really helps to compensate for the rest of it being rather long in the tooth.

I'm jealous. My PC is getting long in the tooth. I need an upgrade. Enjoy your new rig and all the newer games you can play.

Q.When you can feel that the performance of your computer has changed significantly?
A.I feel like I replaced the SSD or GPU.
SSD of M.2 was a singular point.

Hey, we both have improved versions of 2012 gamer builds! I'm just a generation behind your CPU.

My benchmarks were...interesting. So I forgot to disable my GPU's frame cap config, which I do for older or buggy games that uncap FPS in some situations like in game menus & such - Prevents my GPU from squealing. My SSD got nearly double the sequential speed with Samsung Magician compared to this benchmark - Being near 50% capacity probably hurts a little. Lastly, my 2x8gb 2x4gb sets of Corsair RAM completely threw off trying to rank my RAM, but your lower latency definitely squeezes out a bit more throughput.

I hope to upgrade CPU/Mobo/RAM this year, but I'm waiting for things to settle down in the CPU world before I make the leap.

Nice bump! PS Passed the bench, but remembered that my pc is downclocked a bit and fps capped to 60 in drivers, so my test is meaningless. :|
