Some emotionally moving songs from video games, songs with lyrics would preferred.

a lot of the ff games had good music and I think one of those kingdom hearts even had a famous jpop singer (sorry, forget all of it now, but I remember the song was pretty)

also, the ending song from sonic2 was pretty emotional for me... dunno why... drops a tear every time. >)

To Zanarkand from Final Fantasy X has no lyrics, as preferred, but is quite a moving song, I think. Beautiful piano throughout. Even more so if you've played FFX and love the game.

Im not sure if it can be called 'theme' but, well, the guitar 'theme' in Metro 2033 always gives me the creeps as it is toucing.

I recommended you BioShock 2 in the previous thread so here's the music from the game that brought tears to my eyes. There are no lyrics but it's still very emotional.

Pairbond
How She Sees The World
The Ocean On His Shoulders
Eleanor's Lullaby

+1, especially for main theme. Main theme + "Sacrifice" ending = pure epicness

Very occasionally an in-game trailer comes along & makes everything that the 'AAA' industry is doing look even more boring & uninspired.

@OP

I can't say for certain that VG OSTs with lyrics are the most moving ones, oft times for me, it's the ones without lyrics. Then again I love ambient and post rock, so...

Yup, to me often those are the pure music ones that convey better emotions.

Divinity's Reach gets to me.
Also things like this, this, or this.

The last three have a real special beauty to them. You'll always find people stopping to look in amazement as an orchestra just comes from nowhere, it doesn't matter if you love rap/metal/w/e, if something like this happens you know you'll stop and listen.

The game Redneck Rampage tells a complex story about how scientific progress in the post-modern world can drive an human being into an existencial crisis and the level of emotionality of the empathically told story derives to a high degree from the emotional and intellectual appealing soundtrack:
Beat Farmers - Baby's Liquored Up
Mojo Nixon - UFOs, Big Rigs & BBQ

And two 'real' answers:
With vocals: Old Gods of Asgard/Poets of the Fall - The Poet and The Muse from Alan wake.
Without vocals: Theme song from Outlaws

This... is the most moving song ever.

You'd have to play the game and get the context of that song to understand why it's so moving.

The game is 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors.

It's a visual-novel + escape the room kinda game, but the story is mindfucking.

NeiR - Ashes of Dreams
You really have to play the game to get why it's emotional. The most depressing game ever for me.

Depending on the context of the game's storyline and theme where the song plays, any song from a game could be emotionally moving, really.

"We didn't start this War, but I wish we had!"

_"All Aircraft, Report."_

"Start fighting or I'll find someone who can!"

If you want to be moved by songs made for video games, you'll probably have to play them. Otherwise they won't really work.

I've been playing lots of .Hack//Infection lately.
Aura's Theme
First Time at Holy Ground
One Who Bare Fangs at God - Xenogears
Cohen's Masterpiece - Bioshock This is by far my favorite on the list.
