The genres I play are generally single player, so why do I want friends? I am looking to add friends that play these genres of games and who write reviews for games at least occasionally, to enhance my Steam shopping experience. I have a bunch of friends on Steam, but I can count on one hand the friends I see reviews for. It would also be nice to see any niche games in these genres being purchased or played in the Friend Activity page, or on the Steam Deck front page (it shows a row with games your friends have been playing recently).
Not a single friend owns Lorelei and the Laser Eyes (a wonderful puzzle game that came out a couple months ago), and only one even has it wishlisted. Similar for Rhythm Doctor, Melatonin, Islands of Insight (at least a couple picked it up when it was completely free last week), etc. The JRPGs and Casual games have a bit more friend activity, but still only around maybe 5 people.
I don't write reviews for everything I play, but I do try and highlight hidden gems I've found or voice my criticism when the game is buggy or badly designed.
I'm pretty busy so I won't be reaching out much at all to chat or send requests to play together, I just want to see more relevant activity on the store page :)
