It's SEGA time! Will you get these games?
Own most of them still, but if I can pick up all of them (3 bundles worth) I will for my niece.

Those 4 games are the only ones that aren't available on Steam in my country (Germany) because they were forbidden back when they came out and still are. I guess that's why Bundle Stars didn't bother to add them.. which is sad becaue I already own every other Sega game and only those are missing.

This is a perfect bundle for getting those few Sega classics that are not included in a bundle!
By comparing the available list of games for the mix bundle, there are about 9 games specifically that have not been included in the SEGA MegaDrive & Genesis Classics Packs. The games that are only available as single purchases outside of the classics packs are:
Sonic CD
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic 3 and Knuckles
Sonic 3D Blast™
Sonic Spinball™
ToeJam & Earl
ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron
Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine™
SEGA MegaDrive & Genesis Classics Pack 1
SEGA MegaDrive & Genesis Classics Pack 2
SEGA MegaDrive & Genesis Classics Pack 3
SEGA Genesis Classics Pack 4 NA
SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics Pack 5
You can get the near complete collection for about $15 instead of the $62 for the SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics.
NOW THAT IS A DEAL!
Yet, there are SO MANY other Sega Classics that are not yet available... :-L

Ah, well, these are the ones NOT in a steam pack that is.

thank you! I've added this to the OP. you've really helped a lot of people out who want to complete their collections, including me! Credited and noted ❤

Thank YOU, Rachel. I feel that the whole of SG community owes you much respect and gratitude for your effort in making these posts and charts. So much so that I think that Who Is Gaming now emails are not needed to tell people of current deals.

btw there is a bundle (or sub) by now, that has them all
http://store.steampowered.com/sub/102625
it even includes Sonic CD which is not a Mega Drive Classic but comes as sperate game to your steam library.

Oh man! I wish I had known that. I would have then used that list to search for titles that I did not yet have in my own collection. Instead, I scrolled through the list of 'dlc' and checked each game by name! DOH!
Comment has been collapsed.
It was released the same day Sega launched the new emulator in late April i think. before that there were those 5 collections and 8 "lonely" games . I know how you feel, it was a pain to make the game list in my FAQ, which was my main motivation when starting the FAQ.
Comment has been collapsed.
Your FAQ is so well done! There is so much information there. Stuff I did not know or even know where to find.

appreciate you read it. I try to keep it up to date and as simple as possible though that is not even possible. the amount of text probably confuses most people rather than helpin them :D

haha thats true, it's a pain to order this list alpahabetically. thanks for your work rachel

Look below the table:
"Wondering what games you already own from this bundle? There's an extension/ UserScript for that! It's called the RaChart™ Enhancer, created by my friend and fellow SG member Sighery!
This script enhances the charts by showing you which games you already own from the ones in it. If you own it, the row will be highlighted with a green color.
For more information and to Download, please click here for the RaChart™ Enhancer!"

I have the app at home, but I never noticed that it worked for me actually.
Edit; I'll have to check it later tonight to see why.

I use the script! See here: https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/LcC9ufQ

There's either RaChart's Enchancer (script that works with Rachel's threads) , or you could make an account with barter.vg and you can see what you own in the middle column here https://barter.vg/bundle/1141/ Forgot it doesn't apply for some dlc like in this case
Comment has been collapsed.
Thanks, but I am already using it, and it works flawlessly most of the time.
In this case, (I think because the games are launched from another app), none are showing as highlighted except for Sonic CD. I have all the Golden Axe games for example (love those when I was a kid), but all are showing unowned here until I go to the Steam page.

Sounds like a no. Either open each one up or type into your game library. Luckily a lot have the same base; "Sonic" "Shinobi" "Shining", etc it can go a little faster.

I made a list of the games that you can only get outside of a classics pack. if you have all 5 of the classics packs then those are the 9 you should pick up to complete your collection of games.
Comment has been collapsed.
open the Steam client, go to your library, select Sega Mega Drive & Genesis Classics, order your DLC by "item" to order them alphabetically and compare to the games offered in the bundle
edit: or go here to see what is in your lib http://store.steampowered.com/sub/102625

I had or played all of these games in the olden days :)
For RPG fans, here are the RPGs:
Beyond Oasis
Landstalker: The Treasures of King Nole
Light Crusader
Phantasy Star II
Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom
Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium
Shining Force
Shining Force II
Shining in the Darkness
Sword of Vermilion
And if I could only choose 5 of those to play first I'd probably choose the three Phantasy Star games, Landstalker and Sword of Vermillion
:)
Comment has been collapsed.
Phantasy Star III isn't that great. (Whereas Phantasy Star IV is easily the best Genesis RPG.)
I'd also strongly recommend Beyond Oasis to anyone who likes action-RPGs. The Arabian Nights-style setting is also a bit of a nice change from generic knights-and-dragons fantasyland.

this is nice for those people who need to complete their collection

Thank you Rachel! ^^
Played most of them on my Megadrive and/or Steam and I see they added to the collection as I'm missing 2 (for the moment). :-)
Comment has been collapsed.
Hell yeah! Toejam and Earl is one of my favorite games, I played so much of it as a kid. My Genesis is past it's prime, it's time to get the game again on Steam. So cheap too!

btw, for all who are confused about the Sega Classics, I once did a F.A.Q. which comes with lots of handy stuff
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=398334923
It's the most popular guide for the collection, so check it out and subscribe if you havent yet
edit: glad my guide helps you guys. please note that it was mostly written before the new emulator was released (which is still buggy and propbably will be replaced in the future), so it mainly covers stuff for the "Simple Launcher" .
edit2: I just noticed this bundle contains nearly all available Mega Drive games for Steam, expcept for these 4: Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi, Fatal Labyrinth, Decap Attack and Flicky. For some reason exactly these games are not available in the German Steam store, not sure why they were left out in this bundle though.

So, for someone who has few of these, was the better deal the Summer sale or this?
It looks like each pack was only $1.87 during the sale, which seems like a better deal if you add the cost of them up versus getting multiple 20-game bundles here, but I'm not sure.
Comment has been collapsed.
There probably was a better price at some point, but you have to consider that those packs are pre-selected, so if you wanted Phantasy Star and, I don't know, Alex Kidd you had to purchase two packs and get games you might not even want. I only wanted some Sonic games for the nostalgia, had the 10% voucher from Indie Legends #4 and am happy with what I got for my money. :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, you can get practically all of the Sega Classics for about $15 with 5 extra games to give away. That is a big difference between the cost of the 'complete and total' deal of $62. You would just be out the 4 games that are not available in this bundle deal.
Comment has been collapsed.
Right, but the complete deal was around $15 during the Summer sale (and probably will be again during the Winter sale), so it seems about even. This is probably better, because I won't lose any money from duplicate games.
Comment has been collapsed.
btw the Sega Classics Collection has 58 games. Sonic CD is a separate game.
Comment has been collapsed.
are you talking about SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics on steam? that has 59 doesn't it including Sonic CD
Comment has been collapsed.
Ok then, what is the mysterious game #59? Sonic CD doesn't count, it is not a rom, it is a separate game.
Comment has been collapsed.
The Sega Mega Drive & Genesis Classics is an emulator. It has 58 DLC (=games) . Sonic CD is not a DLC, it is a standalone game in your steam library. In fact it is not even a port from the original Sonic CD from the Mega CD, the steam version is a completely recoded new game, done by some Indy dude, compatible with modern PCs. The Sega Classics collection (the emulator) consists of 58 games.
Comment has been collapsed.
Ahh didn't know they were steam DLC as says they are steam games in the steam store so yeah 58 of them a dlc that come under Sega Mega Drive & Genesis Classics but if you buy the collection on steam you are still getting 59 games, 58 that run as DLC +1 separate game Sonic CD :P
Comment has been collapsed.
You should check amazon.com they have these collections up on sale every now and then for even cheaper
than this bundle (selling steam keys) if I'm not mistaken. I have also seen the complete thing on the indiegala store at some sale for like 15 bucks or so (similar to summer sale?). And still, this bundle is pretty neat and especially great if you miss just a bunch of games.
Comment has been collapsed.
Unfortunately, both the 48-game and 50-game collections that were on super-sale at Amazon about a year ago are no longer available, so unless they bring them back, that deal is done. Maybe you can point to something else that I've missed? They still have CD-ROMs, but I'm looking for the Steam collections.

Got 5 Sonic Games except for Spinball. Good I skipped the Sega bundle from Humble recently, because I saved some money and didn't have to get additional stuff I don't want. Good purchase!

Oh, how I wish Warsong would pop up on one of these lists D:

I love Warsong. I played the heck out of that game back in the day. I might have to dust off the old Sega and fire this game up.

Yeah, me too :3
Here's to hoping it eventually arrives on Steam! :)

Got excited about a Sega Genesis bundle, checked again for Warsong and then was disappointed again.
Alas.
