Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist. It's free on Steam and definitely worth playing especially if you like The Stanley Parable.

haha! there's a lot of repetition here, but I guess that means those games are really loved! :D

Oh, please, take a look to KOTOR 1 and 2. They may be look old, but they are classics. Kotor 1 its, imho, the "bioware classic", with kotor they laid the foundations for all of their RPGs and "karma systems" (mass effect, basicaly).
Kotor 2 its from Obsidian (like fallout new vegas) and it came out with a lot of troubles (unfinished, unpolished) but Kotor 2 its so dark, deep and "different" that it doesn't seems a Star War game in a lot of scenarios. For a lot of people its a lot better than the first one.

I recommend The Charnel Hous Triology or Richard & Alice, when it becomes to pixelarted and storytelling games.
If you wanna challenge your mind with some additional Puzzles, The Talos Principle should do the trick.

Papo & Yo - This is a real piece of art. I really love the gameplay elements and the storytelling was very great. THIS soundtrack is gold too!!
I think about it longtime, after the end of the game. Because THIS was "great"

If you're not playing only on pc Metal Gear Solid saga is the best story i've played in thousands of games. You also have the Final Fantasy games (X being my favorite), Bioshock saga, The Witcher 3, Chono Trigger, The Last of Us...
On the indie games you got Braid, To the Moon, Oxenfree, Transistor, The Banner Saga, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Bastion, Papio & Yo, Undertale, Gone Home...

Witcher 3 with DLC's - the best journey ever! If you know books you should read them too.

SOMA
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
Tomb Raider (2013) and Rise of the Tomb Raider (Personally, I feel they both have interesting stories.)
Sickness (VN with a dark, interesting story.)
Gone Home
Game of Thrones - A Telltale Game Series
Dead Space 1 & 2 ( DS3 is good as well, but it's on Origin. I like the emotional story that revolves around the main character.)
Alan Wake
Solstice
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger
The Cat Lady
Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy
Tales of Zestiria
Final Fantasy franchise
The Night of the Rabbit
Sherlock Holmes franchise
The Bunker

The Sea Will Claim Everything
An adventure in the Lands of Dream
In my opinion, this is a very underappreciated little gem in story-driven games. It is full of humour, philosophical aspects and ecological awareness.
The music is nice and fitting, the graphics style is reminiscent of picture-books.

Nice~ Now that I've perused the games mentioned, I'll add some that no one has brought up!
I'm sure I'm forgetting some of my faves, but most of them have been mentioned earlier in the thread!
EDIT: I see that some of these were mentioned whilst I was typing! lol~

If you want a great story and don't mind visual novels, try Hatoful Boyfriend. I'm serious.
Many others were already mentioned. The Book of Unwritten Tales games are hilarious. If you enjoyed TWD you will probably like The Wolf Among Us and Life is Strange too.

Almost forgot those two gems:
Void (a.k.a Tension) - unique gameplay, strange story.
Zeno Clash - story is superb!

Dragon's Dogma had one of the most profound endings i've ever seen in a game. the story throughout the bulk of the game is quite banal, but the interactions with The Dragon and Pawns, and the ultimate culmination / segue to NewGame+ led me to put the controller down and just sit there for five minutes, thinking nothing but "woah..."
the (included) DLC Bitterblack Isle ("Dark Arisen" being the chosen title for "GOTY," as it were), though, has an amazing story all throughout it - the main problem with the base game's story is just in how conventional it is: dragon comes to town and you assemble a rag-tag team to put it down, very formulaic in the steps taken to reach that significant conclusion.
DDDA is the game off the back of which the next Humble Monthly is being sold - absolutely recommend getting it

Hello everyone!
I've just recently finished playing both seasons of The Walking Dead for the first time, and I adored both games so much! But now I feel like my life is lacking a good story-rich game to play!!
So, I'm just looking for some recommendations of good games with a good/interesting story within it! There's just so many games out there, it's impossible to just scroll through Steam to find one!
I've loved games like TWD, Half Life series, Portal series, Fran Bow, Mirror's Edge, Remember Me, Deadlight, The Evil Within, etc.
Also, as a small thanks in advance, here's a giveaway of The Fall!
