Basically I brought some games believing them to work with Steam - they don't :(

Anyway since I don't want them unless they are on Steam (so I can play with my friends)
can I give them away on here? The games are downloadable so could I stick them in Dropbox
then give the download code and link to the winner? I've seen other people giving away CD keys.

I was going to do it, but it seems the majority of people don't read the descriptions under give aways
so I'd get bad reviews as a gifted if they didn't read it. Thoughts?

Nope, not as a giveaway, but you can give them away via the forum. Only games allowed as giveaway other than steam games are BF3 and Minecraft...

You can make a giveaway in tf2r.com with any TF2 item you have (anyone would give you a crate for free so you can raffle it) and then you can also give the CD-Key to the winner. So you have a random giveaway and you won't run into problems.

I saw a few CD key give aways like a Mass Effect key and a Prey key so that's why I was wondering.
The games are the two Mount & Blade stand alone expansions: Warband + Fire and Sword, I put in the
description for my current give away (the original Mount & Blade) that I had them but no one has read
the comments as I asked if someone would trade something for them as I couldn't give them away.

Are you positive they're not Steam compatible? Both Warband and With Fire and Sword are available on Steam, so the cd key might work there, or you could also be able to make a giveaway for them that route...

No I tried the keys via Steam but they won't work, as well as GamersGate (where I purchased them from) gave me a file to download to run them.

This is, there are very few non steam games that are given away here, one of them is Battlefield 3, and even then its not very common to see those.

My suggestion is that you give them away through the forums if you want to, but ALWAYS make sure you tell everyone they're not steam keys.
If you think you might get into trouble for doing so, you can go to support and ask if you can post the non steam keys on the forum for usage.
