YAY FREE GAME! (For Origin users) Getting?
Origin is fine. UPlay is the reason to avoid games.

Exactly! Origin is evil (spies on your machine!) and needs to go. Nothing will convince me to ever use it (though I have an account cause I was stealthily cheated when making an account to play Burnout on Steam), even if they started to give out money, or even my all time favorite EA racing game: Need for Speed 2 SE.
UdontPlay is worse, I hate it even more.

Because it looks terrible (not in this case but that's why I skip most free games)

Jade Empire is great. It is literally the only Bioware game I liked enough to finish before Mass Effect came out. It has kung fu, magic and even a gun from when some guy was determined to civilise the savages.
I will be very disappointed if you do not get it.

Of course I got it, like I said I wasn't speaking about this promotion. Just the reason why people would not get a free game ^^

It wasn't clear you were getting this one.
Terrible free games are still free +1 and cards in may cases. :P

You silly people. Origin is fine. It works. It lets you play your games.
Considering I have UPlay fail to succeed in that at times, I save my hate for them.

But free. :D
I have it on Steam and XBox. Two copies on XBox, actually. :P

And now you can own it on Origin. Install client, install game, remove client, still play game.
Comment has been collapsed.
You need the Origin client to download the game, but outside of titles that use online, its often quite possible to remove Origin after installing the game. Can't say if that is true for this game, I've never had reason to uninstall the client.

Might as well leave it on for other free games. :P
They do some quality games in their free offers. Stuff like the following have been free before.

eh.. "Nothing to see here… yet. Check back in a couple weeks for a little somethin’ special." in The Netherlands.. :/
Edit:
Used an USA proxy with Hola plugin..and got my game. Thanks. :)

I think Origin-Only should be first so I don't get as disappointed next time.

Not listed in on the house for me so I just did a store seach for "jade" and got it for free.
Comment has been collapsed.
No need. As said, just needed to find it in the store (in the app) and the price was free. But thanks anyway :)

If anyone bought it with discount on black friday sales he probably very angry now.
Comment has been collapsed.
Does Origin have the same thing too? If so, you probably right about it)
Comment has been collapsed.
Considering but was leaked as being on the house over a week ago any reasonably sane person would have held off on it anyway

Not everyone follow the news about games. Of course everyone who know about this wouldn't buy it.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, I do) I bought Wolf Pack, Heretic/Hexen Pack, 3D Realms Anthology and Lucasarts Adventure Bundle this sale)

check my reply http://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/5So3HXv - i'm just curious, any particular reason THIS sale not the other multiple?
Comment has been collapsed.
Why not? It's not very different from any other game - you have it on wishlist, and then, when you have sufficient funds (in my case - from selling steam trading cards, short on real money this days), and nothing more interesting - you just buy it. So, It does not had to be THIS sale, it can be any sale at any time. Still had enough old games in wishlist)
And yes, in my case (and I believe in most cases) it's because I played the game before and want to play again, or even just wanted to play before (when it was new), but never had chance. I'm unsure if younger people who never played this games would buy it, you should ask them)
Comment has been collapsed.
i guess... but the wishlist is ever growing >:3 always on the prowl for new or big sales rather than repeats
also note my point about where the money goes, carmack isnt at id anymore, buying digital means no more classic large sized pc boxes or manuals, zenimax has shown concerning actions (the mojang 'scrolls' issue, skyrim paid mods, etc, not that doom4 isnt very promising)
interesting comparison on this stream of thought: witcher1 enhanced, now that's a wonderful package that i'm glad to own, all lost if buying digital... while l4d1, totally useless dvd case with a key card, no manual, i totally regret buying that retail & full price

Oh, if we start discussing where money goes, and is games worth it - we ain't going to stop soon) It's very hard questions, and very subjective too. If you forgive me - I'd like to stop this discussion here)

those have altered rereleases, but yes, especially outside of sales or (non monetary) retro promotions (like excitement from gamesdonequick coming in a month), you risk an old game that may not work on your OS or hardware, that may have a sale, that may be found buried in the closet, this is what i mean
i still have my duke3d cd, doom1 shareware floppy, & some others from the 90s, i was a little kid back then too
specifically games on pc, there are a lot of sales, so i kind of hope that it's at least new or younger players that are buying, just find it amusing to have someone already played or already owned to pass a lot of sales but then suddenly end up buying, possibly at a lesser discount than if it was done earlier
(note i'm specifically talking about buying, enjoying makes sense, i enjoy things from all kinds of decades, but with some entertainment products, the original dev or pub is gone, the money goes who knows where like RIAA or zenimax for example)
edit: i should mention obscure things make sense, they get discovered randomly & late, but mainstream ones you knew from launch or got sick of from the radio at the time... to buy a decade later? this is what i mean

Any game you buy carries a risk of not running. Ask any Arkham Knight owners or anyone who was foolish enough to buy a game made by Bethesda Games Studios on launching day. :)
With old ones, there is a slightly larger risk, but apart from the DirectX 5 or earlier games not working on Win10's DX12 fiasco, I cannot really recall many titles that are hopeless to run on Vista and up. At the least, there is always some fanpatch. ANd for pre-Windows ones, we already have DOS emulation. Maybe there will be old DX emulation soon, too.
Plus, for compatibility, you can always just rely on GOG. They don't release anything until they make it work on modern OSs.

ugh you reminded me of what i call the 'black hole' of pc games, late 90s to early 00s, they require gpu acceleration so they wont work in dosbox as software rendering, they're too old or messed up or proprietary to run on several generations of modern gpus & drivers, they're quite screwed without having the old hardware
heck i even had trouble running need for speed 4's demo on win2k with a 9800pro! i may have given up on that one, this was years before pcgaming wiki, i still have that hardware & OS next to my foot so i can still attempt it
gog is nice, but not everything i'd want is there (i also saw people visiting from gog forum to my site's blog post where i worked around some opengl driver issues for amd in some games, the particular game is broken on modern amd, they're still selling it since works on nv or older cards or something like that)

Already have it on GOG but might as well, eh?
You never know, GOG could one day cease to exist and I might be grateful for this copy.

5hats largely fine when considering most of their older titles but they are increasingly offering new titles that are getting bigger and bigger. When I built my PC I bought an ssd for my OS and an hdd for games. I decided to install witcher 3 on the ssd as though infrequent the load times where quite noticeable. Now with all the patches, dlc and the expansion I can't install it on the ssd without hindering performance. And there's still an expansion to come

technically with ntfs junctions, you can virtually 'move' any file on any physical drive as you please, this is how i worked around running out of C partition space in the past (not even an SSD situation)
as for your SSD, are you under 128gb or something?
Comment has been collapsed.
It's 128. It's not that I don't have space for it it's that it takes up that much space that it starts hitting performance.
