Alright guys, I'm wondering if you all might think of a game or two I missed. I'm really into the whole open-world, you decide your goals, etc. gameplay of Bethesda's latest games. After 3,000-4,000 hours on Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, I'm pretty burnt out on what they currently offer.

Can you guys recommend anything else similar?

The closest thing I've found recently was Borderlands, but that was a stretch... It's seeming like Bethesda's games are pretty unique.

Games suggested:
Arx Fatalis
Gothic Series (I used to own the third game, but had trouble getting into it back then)
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series
The Witcher 2
Two Worlds II

Games suggested which I already own:
Dragon Age - Origins (I have had a lot of trouble getting into this one)
Mass Effect Series (not what I'm looking for here, yet still awesome games)
Might & Magic Series (want to start up the first game just haven't gotten to it yet)
Risen (got it in a bundle but haven't tried it yet)
Star Wars - Knights of the Old Republic (not what I'm looking for here, yet still an awesome game)
The Witcher (tried it once but should give it an honest play some day)

Played it out on the 360 and got all but one achievement (the one for beating it on the hardest difficulty). Good games, tons of fun, but not really immersive.

I'm not sure about it but the gameplay of Numen:Contest of heroes looks a bit similar. You can get it from the latest Bundlestars Bundle.

Games I have played and feel are like Fallout/Elder Scrolls are Risen 1+2 (I played Risen 2, more pirate-like), The Witcher 1+2 (played Witcher 2), STALKER (played the original, very good game), Arcania (aka Gothic 4), Kingdoms of Amalur, Two Worlds 1+2 (played the first, it was cheesy but fun), Dark Messiah, Dragon's Dogma (might not be like FO/ES but I feel it's close ), Far Cry 1-3 (played FC3, some people claim it's like 'Skyrim with guns'), Fallen Earth (Free to play Steam game, I couldn't really get into it though), Dead Island (It's like Fallout/TES had a three/foursome with Left 4 Dead and Borderlands), and Mass Effect 1-3 (played ME1 and 2)

Games I haven't played yet that seem like Fallout/TES are the Gothic series, Rage (also published by Bethesda), Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light, the Deus Ex series and the Dragon Age series.

I see a lot of good suggestions there... Hadn't heard of Fallen Earth before though. Looking into that one.

Oh, dang, it's an MMO. I should have pointed out above that my 'net connection has a bandwidth cap and I can't play online games. I even have to download them elsewhere.

MMOs are massive time sinks. I'm currently playing GWs 2, the game is beautiful and only £20.

This! Bethesda basically made single player MMOs. No other company has matched their design and workload. You best buy some mmo rpg and play through the single player storylines.

Some have interesting storylines like The Secret World or Guild Wars series that both have unique takes on the mmo genre in terms of classical rpg types. There aren't a lot that haven't been named already.

Kingdoms of Amalur was mentioned and it does match TES/Fallout 3 or NV as it was originally meant to be a MMO but got changed into singleplayer.

I really should have pointed out above that my 'net connection has a 5GB monthly bandwidth cap. I can't download at home (go to McDonald's to use their free wife) and can't play online games.

Mount and Blade series if it hasn't already been suggested, though there's not much story.

And if you want something different, but still total open world freedom, maybe Try X3.

In terms of rpg I'd have to recommend Titan Quest and TQ Immortal Throne.. Maybe not 'exactly' what you're looking for, but still a great game.. and maybe E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy for rpg/fps, also a good game.

Risen is similar to Gothic since it's made by the same guys.

RAGE is an interesting post-apocalyptic game too.

Space Rangers - Dont know if you can count a lot of solar system as Open World.combat is turn based/arcade(if you play 2nd game you also get strategy with third person shooter) . The whole goal of the game is to destroy the invaders before they destroy you but during the game you can do w/e you want until they destroy you or you destroy them .

Fable! I should have mentioned that I've played and beaten the first two games in that series, and they were somewhat what I'm looking for. Maybe I should actually give the third (which I own) a try...

I suppose it might depend on what you end up doing in those games. Personally, I love games where I can just wander and explore and no one really does it like Bethesda. A lot of RPGs have some of that, but you can't usually get sidetracked like you can in a Bethesda game.

Its only 360/PS3, but I've had a ton of fun with Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen lately. It has a lot of interesting combat mechanics.

I've got the original Dragon's Dogma and was giving it a try... Up until I found out that Dark Arisen features the original game. Enhanced. Now I've gotta' wait to get the new version.

Well, you get some sweet bonuses for having a DD save file when you start up DD:DA, so all is not lost. But DA fixes a ton of issues and adds a bunch of refinements and content. Its routinely $30, but I'm sure you could catch it on sale for $20 (and it'd be $20 well spent). The pawn system is a lot of fun, too. And you can change classes on a whim, which helps prevent things from getting stale.

If you do Might and Magic, the first 5 might be odd to play, to me I had trouble getting into the DOS games, but 6-8 are definitely worth a play.
