I generally don't. Like people already mentioned, the winner gets an email from the site already notifying them that they've won something and if the winner doesn't react to that, I have no reason to believe me trying to contact them would bring more reaction. I don't bother checking if people are online or not, they'll claim their win in the week or not. Admittedly so far I've been pretty lucky with my winners and everyone has either claimed their games in that time or let me know in advance if they can't, so I haven't really had to think about what I'd do if the week passed without winner marking 'received.'

That's very unfortunate, hopefully they'll react soon. I'm also replying to your other reply on the comment below: I'd suggest upping your giveaways to Level 2 entry, that could help a little bit if you keep running into this same issue many times. To get to Level 1 people need to give away just anything (that the site doesn't consider to be a freebie), so even a single 1P giveaway will let people become Level 1 without much effort. At Level 2 people have needed to dedicate a bit more effort into giveaways and paying attention to the site, so there's slightly increased odds they'd also be faster in receiving their gifts when they know what it's like to host giveaways. This is naturally not a guarantee and there will still be people you've run into now, but you might want to test it out at some point to see for yourself.

I don't. It's been years since I last did a low-level public GA, stopped after reading a bunch of insults from a particularly nice winner. Haven't had a single hiccup since then.

I set them really high (like level 6-7), and I understand that it's not a nice thing to do, I'm just making life easier for myself. I think that a compromise would be sensible: setting level not that high (because if everyone does that, the site will become a mess where the majority won't be able to enter anything), but not as low as you do. So, maybe level 2 or even 3?

As for me i try to contact them trough steam and also send them a message on an earlier open steamgiveaway they have done telling them they won. Some people dont have reactions to their profiles open so worst case scenario if my friend invite doesnt work [and the sg message] i can always comment on one of their Screenshots which usually works too :)

Hi there,
I feel that sometimes it's rather difficult to get in touch with winners on Steamgifts. A lot of my winners appear to either be online, but don't tick the received button or simply don't have the time.
Recently I have made a giveaway and someone won. But, it's rather difficult to get in touch with them through this platform, so I'd normally contact them on Steam. Through steam, you need to submit a Friend Request and hope to god they can accept it so you can talk to them. Alternatively, I would write to them on the their profile, but if they are private or restrict that section, I can't.
How else do you contact people who you need to speak to about their giveaway? I feel there should be a message system that allows you to chat with the winner for a while about the code or something. Don't you think that would be a good idea?
