Mine would be Jak 2. I'm actually playing it now on the PS3, because I hate myself (and I already finished it many years ago on the PS2).

What's yours?

PLEASE NOTE! For the game to qualify, it must be a proper sequel - not a spinoff, spiritual sequel or something. I'd also appreciate if it's the first sequel in a series, though that's not entirely necessary.

New Tomb Raider, Postal III, Bioshock Infinite, every NFS after MW, Arcania: Gothic 4, Crash of the Titans, every AC after II.

Oh and of course every COD after MW2 :)

Modern Warfare 2, Black ops 1, Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 2.

Yes, I am sorry, but I played all of those, because it is really unfair to criticize the players without having tried yoursel.
Modern Warfare 1 was the last Call of Duty sadly.

Borrowing a consoleversion that I can give back or paying 15 $ on release for the russian version that surely gives devs little to no money does not contradict with my opinion, if you ask me.

It is unfair to bash people that play them without trying yourself.

Every Call of Duty after Modern Warfare 2(I like this one only for the SP). I tried all of dem at friend's place, all of them are the same repetitive cr*p.(Guess this has been said an umpteen billion times, but people say AFTER CoD 4,and I really like MW2's SP)

Assassin's Creed III. I enjoyed the Ezio trilogy immensely. II, Brotherhood and Revelations (bar the idiotic tower defense portion). They really shit the bed and completely ruined the entire Desmond storyline arc with III. It had such a brilliant setting as well.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010) and Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012). At least ProStreet had the common courtesy to try and start burying itself in a new hole instead of taking along three of the previous greatest Need for Speed titles with it.

Criterion, piss off.

I agree with both, especially Most Wanted, since I do own the retail Black Edition box. While remaking is ok, it's definitely not ok to mess with the stuff that made Most Wanted good, like not taking any car damage. I would name some other stuff if I could, but I just plain forgot cause I the last time I played the game was a couple of years ago.

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is the worst sequel I've played. Don't get me wrong, the game is decent, but not in the same league as F.E.A.R. 1. So much was changed from the original game that it felt like a completely different game altogether.

Yeah thats another one sadly, I couldn't even map my side buttons...not to mention lean was taken out which disturbed me greatly, on top of the the AI was dumbed down incredibly, oh god the long list of why this games worse...so disappointing.

Still though, even with all of that it was better then most shooters now, says a lot about quality of shooters nowadays.

Star Control 3: Made without the influence of the creators of the first two games... basically considered discontinuity by the fanbase.

From what I can think of at the moment, Dragon Age II.. and someone only even needs to play the demo to find out just how bad and disappointing it actually is. The first game got it all right.

Bioware went and completely destroyed Dragon Age II in pretty much every single way, like having the awful action-y change to the combat (which never needed changing), on top of having those absolutely horrible MMO-like animations to appeal to all of the morons out there, and just feeling like, and actually being, a rushed piece of crap.

The new Dragon Age WILL be more Dragon Age II than Dragon Age: Origins, at least in terms of the gameplay. But, that's what the masses want.. Everything in games and movies anymore has to be "cool!", "awesome!", and completely over-the-top.

don't know if it was a sequel or a spin off but Amnesia a machine for pigs, gameplay was so dry it felt so more restricted than ATDD, took me 3 hours to complete, the only thing that was better was the story and the atmosphere.

I'd say Max Payne 3. Not a bad TPS game in general but awful Max Payne sequel.
Also KotOR 2. The first is one of the best RPGs I've ever played, The Sith Lords is just one huge WTF?!
Lastly: Cities in Motion 2. Didn't play it much, but interface is so fucked up that it's almost unplayable for me.

Bonus: Assassin's Creed III. Not a bad game but very disappointing, especially Desmond's story. After 5 years of waiting I found that the ending was written in 5 minutes during one coffee break. Not cool at all :(

I actually believe KotORII to be one of the best RPGs made. The problem was that they were given 1 year to make it, and LucasArts refused them the ability to fix the plethora of bugs. Thankfully, a mod team has fixed it all. Look up TSLRCM.

Yeah, I know there are mods fixing shitloads of bugs and with them game looks like it should look. The point is the final product (the one I bought in the store) is not that good. It's full of technical issues and I was even unable to beat it in my first playthrough due some bug. But the most disappointing was a story set. I still can't understand what happend there and why. I'm gonna play it again in some future (dunno when, my backlog is really huge), maybe after this I'll look at it from a different point. But at the moment it's one of the worst sequels for me.

I was completely the same way as you until I replayed it and then read some walkthrough which was also a complete analysis. As it turns out, it's most Chris Avellone's deconstruction of everything Star Wars, all through Kreia. Do give it another go some time and listen carefully to what see says, because all of her lessons and her ultimate goal try and poke at problems inside the Star Wars franchise and the way the various factions (Jedi v. Sith) have been written.

I enjoyed the original. It wasn't anything fantastic or innovative but it was one of the few games that just really understood the strengths of the open-world genre.

Good combat and good movement makes for a good open-world experience, that it had a decently greyish story was just the cherry on top. The sequel ruined every single aspect of that.

that could be a long list (only the most terrible sequels, "bad" but bearable ones are not listed, here are only ones i've dropped before 'finishing') [1] diablo 3 (AH and inferno completely ruined this game) [2] wow: pandaria (that was an act of execution for warcraft universe plot) [3] spyro: enter the dragonfly and all of sequels after it (I don't think a lot of people may know it, I guess first ones were PS1 exclusives, not sure about it though) [4] deus ex: invisible war (consolish bullshit ported to pc with a lot of bugs, gameplay issues, and in general below average plot) [5] red faction 2 [6] cod: mw2, I don't even know why I liked cod:mw, it's not exactly my kind of game, but mw2 felt so bad after mw1 (the only 2 cods I've played so far) [7] age of empires 3, at their time aoe1 and aoe2 were both close to a status of "masterpiece" as runners-up to wc3 during the period of my love for RTS games, the 3rd part made me cry [8] maybe cs:go, for some reason I had fun playing every CS before it, but not this one

If i'm to pick "the worst" one, that'll be certainly Age of Empires III. Just by the comparison with the first parts. I've spent countless hours playing this game on PC and even the first part on my Pocket PC. There wasn't better games for me except maybe for warcraft. After I've tried AOE3, that was the moment I've lost all my enthusiasm for Aoe1, Aoe2 and for most RTS games. In a blink of an eye...

The only thing that saves Invisible War from being one of the worst sequels in my book is that on its own it's not a terrible game. It's just a really bad Deus Ex game.
