Mine would be Jak 2. I'm actually playing it now on the PS3, because I hate myself (and I already finished it many years ago on the PS2).

What's yours?

PLEASE NOTE! For the game to qualify, it must be a proper sequel - not a spinoff, spiritual sequel or something. I'd also appreciate if it's the first sequel in a series, though that's not entirely necessary.

+1, worst racing game I've ever played, but it wasn't Bugbear who ruined it, it was given to some other developer team

If it counts, Final Fantasy XIII is the worst piece of trash that I've had the misfortune of playing.

Command & Conquer 4.

  • Rushed, weak plot to wrap up the Kane/Tiberium saga (not that plot or storytelling was the strongest point of the series to begin with, but stuff like basically ignoring the 3rd faction that was newly introduced etc. makes this really weak)
  • Bad concept of tying single-player and multi-player together in nonsensical way with skill level system.
  • Rushed, undercooked completely new core gameplay. It has some cool concepts, but the implementation is a mess.

I still don't know why they didn't use the reworked core gameplay in it's own spin-off series (even if that is a post-Kane Tiberium setting), instead of just trying to do too much at once and failing at everything.
After all, that approach worked for C&C Generals. (Red Alert series was more running on a different gameplay balance).

Honorable mention:
Master of Orion 3. Which I couldn't even get into because the UI was so godawful

GTA2

It hasn't magic and feeling of first GTA.

My vote is Actraiser 2. They removed all of the overworld and strategy and turned it into a generic side scrolling hack n slash. It literally removed half the gameplay of the first one while adding nothing new.

Well, it depends, some say ME1 was the best (I would say so), some say ME2 was the best and even ME3 isn't that bad beside the fatal ending and the retarded DLC policy (I don't want to spoil, but the ME3 contain some big deals in term of story that should be in gthe base game).

Risen 2 .. terrible sequel :(

Indeed! I loved to play Risen, and completed it maybe twice or so and tons of just playing around. I was super excited to see that Risen 2 is coming and bought it as soon as it came - played 1½ hours or so and abandoned it. Just horrible.

Yeah, I am interested, too, FO3 is suppose to be an awesome game, I was planning on getting it soon.

Well the topic says "sequel" and FO3 as a sequel to FO1 and FO2 pretty much sucks arse. Even though it's a different type of game [fp(s) vs isometric] it reuses factions and themes from the previous games that in the contex of FO3 don't make any sense, not to mention it focuses on exploration and exploration only with every other aspect of the game severely suffering. Overall it's a vast but very shallow game.

Is this a bad thing? because I thoroughly enjoyed their interpretation a post nuclear world. I know I enjoyed it way more than New Vegas for sure.

If you played Oblivion and thought "This would be awesome with guns!" then no, it's a good thing. But for people like me that actually liked the Fallout lore and universe it hurts to see it ruined like that.

Sonic 3D blast (pc and genesis versions)

Even if the campaign and storytelling are the best in the whole series, the gameplay is just... impossible not to hate.

Why Oblivion, why Crysis 2?

(Side question: As a lover of Skyrim & Oblivion or basically all Bethesda titles, should I try Morrowind too? (I haven't yet, don't judge me))

If you played Morrowind you would know why...talk about dumbed down and a less interesting world.

Morrowind was the textbook example of how to create a beautiful and interesting world in a game. I did like the Shivering Isles for Oblivion though, I thought that was pretty cool.

bloodrayne 2. for all the smooth gameplay bloodrayne 1 had, it was lacking in bloodrayne 2. The controls are derpy, and the movements are quite horrible compared to those of bloodrayne 1 which makes wonder why the hell they changed it so much. The only reason i can thin

I might be the only person on the planet who liked Zelda 2. Then again, I tortured myself through Dark Souls and loved it, so perhaps I'm just special.
