GTA V; game of the year?

If it wins GOTY, I quit gaming.

Seeing as how it's the only one I played and the only one that is currently on PC my vote obviously goes to Bioshock: Infinite (assuming there's even a vote for this at all). :P

Perhaps you should actually play GTA V first before claiming that it's the best game of the year and spreading the hype. As it stands now you're just being a good little puppy and listening to the reviews like they want you to. Here's a tip: start off thinking a game is bad and go from there. If it turns out good, then great, if not... well, at least you won't hang yourself. ^_^

Don't want to sound like a console fag but I'm seeing lots of people are mad just because they didn't announce a pc version so that's the origin of the hate.

I may buy a PS3 just for this.

I can´t say it often enough but I HATE the review/critic-scene at the moment. Way too many perfect scores and if a game gets 5-6/10 it´s garbage.

I mean why would you give a shitty game an ABOVE average score? I get that many reviewers give perfect scores to show that they really like and recommend a game but NO game is perfect. Perfect scores are used way too much.

But that´s just my opinion and BTT: If they make a decent PC-Port they may actually earn GOTY :P

GTA is totally overrated.

GOTY sit's either: Bioshock , TLoU, SRIV or Pokemon XY.

Well, it has already broken sales records. Day one its already sold enough for it to make over 800 million. Would be double that probably if they released it on PC on the same day.

However that still does not mean a game of the year award. Time will tell if the game is worth it or not. I wont be too shocked if it does end up winning that though.

Any random website, magazine, etc. can award any game their "Game of the Year title.

Look at Dead Island "GOTY", it was given GOTY by some guy on a small time blog. Tada! Insta-Game of the Year.

So, what I mean "GOTY" is subjective, and no doubt several sites/magazines will call GTA V their "GOTY".

just because it is poised to become the fastest selling game in history doesnt mean its an automatic game of the year lots of games that sold well didnt make the cut so i wouldnt start the party just yet

I don't get the hate here. People who did not played it are complaining just because they want. And there we have the Console haters. Rockstar is free to do whatever they want with their game, releasing it to PC or not. If not, what's the problem? You don't get to play it? Then buy a console. You don't want a console, or you hate it? Then don't buy it and stop complaining.
I have to say, I love the game. It has new mechanics, better graphics, more everything. You can do whatever you want in there. There's a lot of stuff going on in the city, that feels so real... It deserves a 10, just in my opinion, they did an amazing job with it.
You are free to say what you want of course, everyone has an opinion, but don't complain if you didn't played it or just because you read reviews... reviews are not helpful, everyone has a different opinion. The best you can do is do your own judgement.

No way GTA V can be game of the year. I did a submarine mission yesterday, and the fish did not even move out of the way. It clearly needs better fish AI to become goty.

I don't think so. It's gonna have fierce competition from the Last of Us and Bioshock Infinite. Definitely gonna a nominee, but I doubt it will win.

Only if PC version comes out this year, otherwise screw GTA and Rockstar for being a greedy ass company.

So far, it's been more entertaining than most of the games I've played this year, so it might be for me.

I played The Last of Us, and considering I think that was one of the best games ever made. I would be very surprised if GTA V could bring me that sort of satisfaction. However, I have not played the game, but I don't hear talk about it being one of the best games ever made, and The Last of Us has that coming out the ying-yang.

played it definitely game of the year in my opinion i have enjoyed this the game most out of anything that came out this year rockstar deserve all the praise they get for it
