It's been well established in the past that earlier is better, as far as notifications on these things go, as it both improves visability for the event and, as already noted, avoids regretful purchases. As someone who doesn't check the forums daily, I'm personally appreciative of it [though sometimes the threads don't get bumped in a timely manner, and that sucks (given how very forgetful I am)- but that's not really on the OP, usually].

I was the opposite, I liked the first and did'n't care that much for the second - well I didn't care that much for the story, but I liked the improvements to the gameplay and mechanics.
Not sure how W3 will be when it releases, I will probably wait myself till its released for reviews and stuff before I would buy it.
