I would love to see recs in three themes. I think they can be divided by difficulty level, lol. I'll start with the most difficult genre for recs
- Online co-ops. It’s really difficult to find something new that I haven’t played and that isn’t on my wishlist. But I keep hoping that there are great games that I missed. I'm not interested in the genres of survival, shooters, platformers.
First of all, I am interested in online co-op puzzles and escape rooms. An ideal example is Escape Memoirs series and Islands of insight.
Secondly, I'm looking for good RPGs with normal co-op, for example Larian's games, Solasta, Wildermyth. Dark Envoy is an example of bad co-op RPG, the game starts with the host creating both characters and playing for them for about 10 minutes before the second player is even allowed to join the game.
The third priority online co-ops are everything else, for example PlateUp, Overcooked, Hellcard, Mars First Logistics. It would also be interesting to play a visual novel, but I've only seen one with co-op, Antioch: Scarlet Bay. - It should be a little easier to recommend something here, because I’ve only seen a couple of games like this. Something cozy, casual, with a “cleaning” of the location.
Hero of the Kingdom as an example. The player finds himself in a location. He looks for certain objects there, for example, he knows how to pick mushrooms. After he has collected enough mushrooms, he is taught how to collect eggs, he goes and collects eggs in the same location. The idea is that the player methodically collects everything they can get their hands on, "clearing" the location of all pick-up items, unlocking more and more items to pick up over time. Another example is I Am Future, the player comes to his senses on a roof littered with garbage and methodically picks up this garbage, processing it into resources. From resources, the player crafts more effective tools in order to collect the garbage that he could not before, in order to collect everything and stay on a clean roof. - Games in which the player is engaged in a detective investigation. Not pretending to be a detective, but actually looking at the evidence and trying to understand what happened. I really enjoyed Scene Investigators. Return of the Obra Dinn and The Case of the Golden Idol are also good. I don't like Shadows of Doubt because I have a negative attitude towards procedurally generated detective stories. Otherwise, this is a fairly new genre for me, so I'm open to any recommendations.

I've only played the demo for these two but they went straight to my wishlist:
The Past Within: A Co-op Puzzle where both players get a different puzzle but they each need to relay information to each other to solve them. It is part of the Cube Escape franchise so it is weird and cryptic.
Antioch: Scarlet Bay: A Co-op detective game with multiple choices and a unique dialogue system. You don't need to voice chat with your partner to play it because it is all part of the gameplay/dialogue. It is hard to explain because it is different from any other games I've played. It is available on Apple, Android, and Steam and it has cross-platform co-op.

The Past Within is very short and doesn't feel like a puzzle at all. It was very disappointing, you and the second player are just describing to each other what you see. Even in the first part We were here were more puzzle game mechanics.

I haven't played Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter, but I've seen a few videos about it. It's a great game, but it's about pretending to be a detective, not solving a case. Another genre. This is an adventure, story-driven game, like all other games about famous detectives. In this game there is no need to make conclusions, it is about finding the right item and possibly combining it with another in the inventory. Good game anyway, maybe I'll play it someday.
Danganronpa is something so different from my usual list of games that I will definitely take a closer look at it. I would never have found this without a recommendation. It looks very unusual, from the trailer I don’t even understand what’s going on there.

I found a walkthrough on YouTube and specifically found the mechanics you are talking about. This game mechanic is another form of storytelling, rather than checking to see if the player understands what happened. The player selects two related clues from the list of clues. If the evidence is not connected, it does not connect. If the evidence is connected and there is more than one such connected evidence, then the player is told what conclusions can be drawn from this and is offered to choose one of two options. Perhaps this affects the ending of the game.
Scene Investigators is a game with storytelling through the environment. The player finds himself in an empty apartment; when he presses Esc, the player sees several strange questions that do not even seem to be relevant. For example, the game does not ask who the murderer is. The game asks who was sitting in that chair. As the player examines the evidence, different versions appear in their mind. The game does not separate the environment into clues and non-clues. No pop-up lists of evidence, no automatic notes in a notepad. Watch and draw your own conclusions. If you realize what happened, answer the questions. If you don't get it, go and look at the evidence. And when the picture comes together, everything becomes crystal clear, all the questions are answered. The player feels that he figured it out himself, and did not choose an option from the ones offered by the game.

I dont really remember much detail about the game since it has been a while since i played it, but i remembered that there are also some aspects that you mentioned in that game, particularly on the clue gathering part. And yes, they have different endings on the case based on who you deduce the perpetrator is (which you deduce at the end of the case). There is always the true ending though. But i dont remember the game explicitly tell the clue of the perpetrator doing something to kill the victim, just some clues that might serve as a motive for the suspects. However, you are right that they will form a conclusion from that that might connect to other clues (which might strengthen the motive of one suspect, whether they are the true perpetrator or not).

Scene Investigators main problem is that the game does not provide the correct version of events. Player is simply left alone with his versions, there is no text with an explanation at the end of the case

Thank you! Oniria Crimes looks interesting. From steam review: "You know... there are several games out there that attempt and fail to provide that sense of investigation. So it is good to see, at last, a game that gets it right.". I will definitely try this game.

For 1, maybe Escape Academy? It's neither in your library nor wishlist, but maybe you have it on Epic. I didn't have time to try myself yet though, so not sure how it plays. 86% positive reviews on Steam.
For the third priority one, I recommend Moving Out! There's a demo, so you can give it a try. :D Kinda Overcooked vibes but instead of cooking you're throwing carefully moving furniture around.

Nevertheless, Empires of the Undergrowth uses some of the mechanisms of DK or WFTO, but with ants. The game is not finished yet, but i love it! and the voice actors (narrator + scientists) are incredible.

I did not know that that one had indirect unit control, but that makes sense, it does look a lot like SimAnt, and that game only had you directly control a single ant while you had to use other means to make the rest do what you wanted. I'll hold off on buying it until it's got a full release, but now I'm more interested in the game than before!

Maybe give Warframe a try? I see you already have it in your library. Co-op only unlocks after playing the intro missions, though. It's very grindy if you want to progress a lot in the story while being f2p, but it's fun if you just play it from time to time (the overpowered melee is very satisfying on relatively low levels).

If you like overcooked, I recommend PlateUp!. In this game you not only cook and serve food, but also arrange furniture and choose which dishes you want to add to the menu. This adds depth to the game. For example, if you add soup to the menu that takes a long time to cook, and you have the impatient customers perk, you will lose with a very high probability. And vice versa, you can arrange tables as efficiently as possible and cook 2 times more dishes in the same time due to the fact that you do not have to run from table to table

Unravel Two - Oh. :/ I didn't play either, but seen more gameplay of the first than the second. (I mean It Takes Two/Unravel Two)
Biped - It does get kinda hard at times lol, although you could assume kids are part of the target audience based on the silly/cute sounds the robots make. But, hey, local co-op, that's a plus for me... And I got it for free, what's more to ask?
Moving Out - Yeah, that's kind of the vibes I had. Funny physics while just throwing furniture around (why put them in the objective truck if you can whack your friend/partner with a chair?) And, +1 for Plate Up! from the comment below (though I didn't try it myself yet).
Warframe - Understandable haha, definitely not for everyone. I personally don't really love it either, I just like it at small doses.

I've completed both games. It Takes Two it’s not just a beautiful platformer, it’s a bright variety of mechanics. Each new level surprises players. Mechanics change so often that they leave you with regret, because you want to play something you liked longer. Unravel Two is a simple and beautiful relaxing platformer, nothing more. After completing the game, bonus puzzle levels are unlocked. they are more difficult than main game, but nothing special. If you are looking for a simple relaxing game with beautiful graphics, Unravel Two is good game. If you are looking for some skill based mechanic it's not the best choice

I think I ended not commenting. So here I go.
I love racing games, tho I'm pretty bad at them. Thus, I love simulators like Assetto Corsa (and Competizione) and Automobilista 1 & 2, but I end enjoying more the arcade approaches like NFS series. Forza Horizon 4 & 5 seem to have simulator genes but I end finding them more arcadey than anything. Driving in itself is also great, I enjoy American Truck Simulator and Eurotruck Simulator. I also love Le Mans and recently I was going to ask here in SG if anyone knew of a modern game for Le Mans simulation and just that day (which was past week) I found Le Mans Ultimate, but it seems the Early Access launch hasn't been too successful, with little content yet. I have some of the official F1 series but the last F1 game I played is F1 Grand Prix from Microprose (1993?) I also have some of the Dirt Rally games, and I enjoy general old-school top-view track racing or TPP classics that can run well in modern systems. I don't like drifting, because I'm absolutely bad at it. I can control a drift in a curve but that's pretty much it.
I also enjoy a lot puzzle games, specially original & different ones. but for that I already have Dohi64's reviews. Tho if you find something really unique, I'm up to it.

Depends on what DIRT series you have - I for one found Dirt Rally and Dirt Rally 2 a brilliant racing games. Although yes - simulators. But Dirt 4 and Dirt 5 are interesting as well, yet more arcade like. WRC games are actually quite interesting as well - depends on how you look at it, but its hardly a simulator. The new ones are realistic, but older ones especially are quite tame. I really like the track design in those games. WRC 7, 8 and 9 are the ones I am playing now.
Maybe you can also try out Spintires, Mudrunner or snowrunner - really cool offroad driving games.
From arcady rally games V-Rally 4 was decent. From older games Dirt Showdown is true arcade, but really really fun. GRID is also pretty interesting.
Flatout2 is really good as well, older title, but really awesome damage model.
Overpass is pretty cool offroading game with buggies
GRAVEL was also decent arcade racing game
Maybe some of these suggestions are in your field of interest ;)

Argh, I typed a long detailed answer but had to leave the computer and when I returned somehow automatically I pressed F5, losing it all.
So in short, I've played Flatout and I intend to play Flatout 2 in the future; Snowrunner is in my wishlist, have the other two; the rest are either in my library or my ignore list, except the WRC games. They always seemed interesting to me, but never convinced me enough to get any.

I read your opinion and it's very much my style of games. You surely know about it, but there's also 'Burnout Paradise Remastered' which is very good, 'Crash Time III', I haven't yet played the second one. I have the third and it's very good. 'Hot Lap League' is a Trackmania style but with a different type of cars, a very nice visual aspect. 'Grip', 'Distance' is more futuristic but very interesting, 'Neodash' is a tremendous game, 'RidgeRacer Unbounded', 'MX vs ATV Unleashed' is old now, but it's a gem. 'Crashday Redline Edition', 'Road Redemption' - you drive motorcycles, it has a particular style, you're either going to love it or hate it. 'Nail'd'. 'Riff Racer' is good for relaxing, racing and listening to your music. 'Gas Guzzlers' series, 'NASCAR Arcade Rush'. And there's so much more.

I see Redout in your library. Recently discovered I love Anti-Gravity Racers and it started with it. I now copy the controller scheme to the other games. ArcRacer , BallisticNG I like that challenge is still present after going into 1st position.
You might prefer Antigraviator It doesn't have ship pitching mechanics but the tracks are still pretty tight.
Redout II has extensive AI assist options. Of course, coupled with masochistic track design, all in good fun.
Similarly the track deformation keeps me engaged in MXvsATV Reflex, it's better than that of Snowrunner.
Exo Rally seems like it could be a gem.

I bought that game, one of my first Steam purchases. For "marketing purposes" and to boost the sales of the incoming game, for a period the dev substituted the main depot of the game with an empty depot, so legal owners of the game suddenly had a broken game. I guess after the amount of reports for that, Valve forced him to put again the right depot and make the game playable again. He also removed the game, so no one else will get it free, I don't think ever again.
Even if it's very bad practice, it would have some sense if he did it on new game release. But I think he's just making a very similar game and he's fearing that gamers who actually got tired of the old game wouldn't be interested in the new one, hence the move. That's just my guess. In any case, such practices are awful enough to not support such dev again.
Said that, I think Classic Racers is a fine game.

Maybe someone has some good suggestions for me. I like 1st or 3rd person exploration, shooter games. So obviously that already covers Fallout, Skyrim, Witcher, GTA series, Just Cause, Saints Row to name a few. The cherry on top for me though is if its some sort of dystopian future or post-apocalyptic setting. I finally got to playing Portal 1 and 2.. And love it. I also have played Stalker and Metro, but overall cant handle horror that well. Although I did finish Metro Exodus. I don't care for really complicated games, slash em up and that sort of games. Souls like neither. It can be puzzle, shooter, Witcher like combat.
I mean I probably have played many from the genre already and I couldnt list all of them.. But who knows - maybe someone knows a really great game which roughly fits my description. I am not much for anime, pixel graphics, side scrollers.. I try them out of course and finish some if I like them. But not going to be first choice for me,.

Thanks for reminding me about it :D This made me remember that I have also played and liked Tomb Raider, Hellblade, Control, Bioshock, Mad Max, Ghostwire, Death Stranding. So the popular ones are either in my library or in wishlist and waiting for a good discount or bundle :D In my wishlist already - Detroit: Become Human, Days Gone, Cyberpunk, God Of War
Btw. survival aspects are also good - I really like Long Dark and Subnautica. So maybe someone even has a good suggestion for a quality survival game similar to these. But NOT mmo. In that sense Rust definitely would qualify but I like to explore and survive on my own pace not with bunch of people around with sole purpose of ruining your day :D

Would Ghostwire: Tokyo and the Far Cry series count? Far Cry would be an "obvious" choice, maybe it's in your non-named list.
After checking Steam, you already finished Ghostwire, nice. You seem to not have any of the Far Cry games on Steam, but maybe you have them on Uplay.
Since you finished Portal 1 and 2, I definitely recommend Portal Stories: Mel and some other mods - you already have the newly released Revolution, there is also Reloaded, but I haven't tried the last two yet.

Yes, you are correct - I have several Far Cry games on Uplay. And yes - I do like the series.
As for Portal mods - I think I added the Revolution some time ago but forgot about it. I added Reloaded and Mel mods to my library as well. Thanks a lot for these ;) Will definitely try out after fully finishing Portal 2.

I think the PC port released last year? The mixed reviews are about the port, not the game itself; I don't have it, so I don't know how big the issues are.

I want to recommend a game to all of you, is a hidden gem. And it's very hidden cause the developer remove the game from steam because the game was expensive and couldn't recover the money he spend. But it a nice developer cause he chose to Inmortalize his game leaving it free on his itch io account. The game is call: 'The Free Ones'- It has a nice story and really good mechanics. Give it a try. I like platformers (both 2d and 3d), metroidvanias, story-based, RPG, cozy, point-and-click, puzzle, adventure, sandbox and cartoony/cute/pixel art style games, but I am fine with any genre close to the games I like honestly. I honestly like games that are unique in gameplay and style.

I liked Do Not Feed The Monkeys, Alt-Frequencies, Slay the Princess, Gunpoint, Dead in Bermuda, Katana ZERO, American Arcadia, Monster Prom, A Short Hike, Tacoma, Beholder, Mainlining, Lost Phone, Contradiction, Edith Finch, Glass Masquerade, Party Hard, The Invisible Hours, Before Your Eyes, Twelve Minutes, Night in the Woods, Oxenfree, Slay the Spire.
I'm not really looking for a "cozy game" or a deckbuilding game. I want a more unique experience. Achievements are also important to me.
I'm mostly looking for indie games I've missed in the last 5 years that barely got any attention. Bonus points if it's under 5 hours.

This is a pretty unique game with an incredible soundtrack. It's clearly not cozy but it's a real experience, at least it was for me. And i say you can finish the game below 5 hours.

No Case Should Remain Unsolved is a pretty unique game. The player helps an elderly woman who is suffering due to the fact that in her career as a police officer there was only one unsolved case. The woman’s thoughts are confused, so the player must understand who the replicas belong to and in what order to arrange them in order to solve the case. The game is quite short, my friend streamed this game to me and finished it in a couple of evenings.
I don't know much about visual novels so if I'm wrong and there is more than one such game, please name them, I want more
Timemelters. Good mix of action and puzzle tower defense with time travel mechancs. I played in co-op, probably solo should be the same fun

No Case Should Remain Unsolved looks really good, I'm always down for detective games. The same devs made Replica, but I didn't really enjoy it back then. The only game coming somewhat close to that would be Unheard, I think.

Some random suggestions (though not sure how unknown they really are):
- In Verbis Virtus: Voice control for making spells. Not sure how well it functions though as I haven't played it myself. Also more than 5 years since release.
- There Came an Echo: Also voice controlled, although alternative control is possible too. Have played this one and it works but is often clunky.
- One Way Heroics: 10 years since release ^^' But definetely unique. Roguelike where the left side of the screen is constantly consumed by the Darkness, muliple classes, lots of ending and a surprising amount of saddening lore.
- Our Daker Purpose: Again 10 years since release ^^' but definetely unknown. Think Binding of Isaac just less twitch reflex and more slower methodically. Also, without all that literal shit-based art/enemies the creator of Isaac loves to include in the game.Comes with interesting lore.
- The Typing of the Dead: And again more than 10 years .... can't check store page in Germany to see how unknown it is. Consider this a rail-shooter with word-typing as weapon. Pretty stupid and hilarious. Also contains the version where you use the mouse to kill the zombies.
- 1001 spikes: ..... A trial and error platformer with small levels ridden with traps.
- Full Bore: A very charming puzzle game.
- The Caribbean Sail: Survive traveling the ocean. Quite interesting if you can live through the fish hunting mini-game.
- Wildfire: At least this one is in the five years frame. Just burn .... everything. Hilarious in local co-op.
- Mages of Mystralia: A very nice and flexible spell-casting sytem.
- Why am I dead at Sea: One of the more interesting story-based indie games I played.
- Future Proof: A very fun puzzle game with lots of logic-based but silly puzzles and lot of strange endings.
I think I will stop here ^^' I notice that most of them are not from the last 5 years and they also take more than 5 hours. Far more, especially if you intend on getting 100 % on them.

I like single player city builders and strategy games. Not specifically single player I guess. I used to spend days on Civ 4 and a mod called Realism Invictus. Used to enjoy playing it online too, but I was always one of the first to die. Nothing has ever really managed to capture my full attention like that used to do. I'd be in school thinking about playing in the evening. I was even known to get up an hour early before school to play it.

yeah! its been my favorite thing to do since forever, im more into niche stuff so im trying to provide others those kinds of games too, especially for genres i know like nothing about lmfao
you'd be surprised the amount of games you'd never find out about until you really start digging through steam, sometimes just looking through there isnt enough cause tags can be pretty limited. other times its the ones that have unappealing or bare thumbnails that end up being 💎s. the user tags category is helpful too. discovery queue is a godsend as well if you filter occasionally as you view them. you'll learn what tags and stuff to look out for in games, besides games to wishlist.

let me try a risky exercise, Nooba, and propose a game for you, based upon what i saw and what i know.
It would be Paradise Killer.
Vn based, with 'free move' (danganronpa style) with a convoluted (if not wtf) story, and you can end it nearly as you want. Want to kill all protagonists? Check. Wanna save all? Check.
You don't have it, it's not on your wishlist, so either i failed utterly, or it may be an interesting pick for you.

I'm having trouble finding video games I enjoy because I don't have a favorite genre. However, I think you might be able to recommend some games based on my favorite sagas.
I mostly prefer single-player experiences since I don't have a lot of time for MMORPGs or Free-to-Play games like Final Fantasy XIV, Genshin Impact, World of Warcraft, and Elder Scrolls Online.

0 needs to be the first, then it's Kiwami 1 and 2. Then you go to the standard order: 3,4,5 and 6. Afterwards, no numbers anymore, we have Like a dragon: Gaiden , Yakuza : Like A Dragon, and finally Like a dragon: infinite wealth
Somewehere near Yakuza 4, I'd say you could insert Like a dragon; Isshin (same kind of games ,with the same chaacters but during medieval Japan)
I need to say that if 0, both Kiwamis, and all games after Yakuza 5 are quite recent, Yakuza 3,4 and 5 (and also Isshin) are older, and lack a bit the quality of life you can find in more recent games.
