I am new to STEAM and have fallen in love with Killing Floor. Does anyone know if this game is playable with a wired 360 controller? I cant get used to the mouse and keyboard.

Some of us have preference for other control schemes, for many different reasons. I can understand the appeal of a mouse, but I'm of the opinion that a keyboard is just horrible for gaming controls compared to a gamepad made for that purpose, and I have a much easier time using it when the cold affects joints. Over 20 years of experience with gamepads of all sorts doesn't hurt either. Since I'm not really looking for pixel perfect aiming anyway, looking with an analog stick is more than acceptable for me. Whenever I'm given the choice, I'll use the gamepad. I'll use a mouse if the game can be controlled with only that, but rarely if it requires much keyboard use.

This. A keyboard is for typing, not gaming. Why would I use three fingers in a cramped, awkward style to move around when i could move simply and fluidly with just one thumb? I often use gamepad + mouse in games where the extra precision makes a difference, and the only real limitation is how many controls I can map to other buttons at my disposal. Given how few controls are really necessary to have on hand at a moment's notice to be able to play a game, it's very rarely an issue.

You are quickly becoming my favourite support member. Bobofatt will be sad once he finds out.

I've touched on this topic a few times. I think the Nostromo Speedpad would be an instabuy for me if it had ana analogue stick instead of a dpad. That would really give the best of all worlds in my opinion. A bunch of keys for mapping, an analogue stick for precise movement, and a mouse for precise aim.

You prefer a gamepad over KB / M and mentioned it on a game forum populated by PC gamers. It would have happened anyway. :P

It's possible, but not supported through Killing Floor itself. But even if it was, I wouldn't do it, because it has no auto-aim, which means it's really hard to play with a controller. A mouse has a lot more precision, so I'd try to play it with one.

I don't think there's official support for controllers, but you could also plug it in and see if it works.
I believe there's also various software which'll allow you to map the controllers buttons to various keys (such that you can customize, in case there isn't support).
Do a few tests, and see what happens.

Best to start learning how to set up Joy2Key. I've tried it myself, and it only offers partial controller support. No triggers at all for example.

This. Also, it had issues with constant reticle drift when I tried to get it to take proper input. JoyToKey is your best friend.

no need for an extra programm like xpadder or joy2key.
The game has controller support if you config the user.ini

Here I have put a preconfigured user.ini just replace it and look in the txt file for controlls

Does your custom file support the triggers? I might give this game another try if so. I've been putting it off because Joy2Key hasn't been saving profiles lately.

sorry only the LB/RB Triggers are configured.
but in the user.ini it has some more unused joypad buttons, so just find out which one is the RT/LT Trigger and edit the line yourself.

The Xbox360 Controlls (adjust as you wish in settings):
A- Jump
B- Use
X- Reload
Y- Alt.Fire/FlashLight
LB- Aim
RB- Fire
Back- QuickHeal
Start- Menu
LeftStickClick- Crouch
RightStickClick- Grenade
DpadUp- ToggleTools
DpadRight- NextWeapon
DpadLeft- PreviousWeapon
DpadDown- DropWeaponn

Ah, I've seen that one and tried it already. Unfortunately, I prefer to have the Left Bumper mapped to something rarely used since that button is a bit iffy on my old controller. No such problem with my Triggers. I need the extra buttons. :(

I really need a new wired 360 pad.
