My sincerest condolences! My dad is 75 now, and has undergone a heart valve replacement surgery recently, which made me very aware of the possibility not having him anymore one day. Makes me treasure all of the little chances to see him and talk with him. May you find peace and comfort in your time of grief.

Fucking hell, I'm sorry to hear that. Him being older doesn't make it any easier. Death is life, and life is death.

My condolences, it's always sad to lose people that are close to you ;(
Hope it does not sound rude, but you could also see it the way that he died while probably having fun/a good time and I'd say that's way more than a lot of people can say.
Seeing close ones suffer for a long time in my oppinion is way worse for everyone...
Anyway wish you the best!

It's not rude at all. Most people told us something of that sort. In particular the older people, friends of my father and my mother, many of which said they'd love to die that way (and many of which are suffering from cancer, Parkinson's or other diseases).
Yes, we're thankful that we didn't need to see him suffer, but it does make it more of a shock.
(The only thing that made what you said sound a little offensive was 'hope it does not sound rude'. Bad way to start a sentence, it makes the reader expect something offensive.)

:( This is so sad.
And, it sure sounds like a loss for all of us, as the world can use all the good, helpful, curious, and considerate people it can get.
P.S. Thanks for the tip. I'll stay away from Solitaire Master 5 on PC and get it on console.

I can only imagine the feelings you have. When I think that my parents may live only another 20 years I get really sad.
Cherish your memories with him.

Yes, he lived a good life. He always found joy in what he did. He traveled the world quite a bit with my mother when he retired. He still wanted to visit Ethiopia, Laos and one other country I can't recall right now. Life wasn't long enough for that, but he's now on the next big adventure.

He thought it was a fun movie, even if was more fantasy than real science fiction. I have some criticisms, but I agreed with him, it was a fun movie. Unlike Guardians of the Galaxy 2, for example, which he didn't like due to it being plot challenged, and I at least got many of the references, so enjoyed it at that level.

It's not horrible, but they completely miscast Valerian and the romance was forced, some dialogue was silly etc... But overall better than the Dunkirk snoozefest I watched a week or so before that. :P
Interesting visuals and a really cool opening sequence to Space Oddity

My father died a week ago. He was 80 years young. He died while playing Solitaire Master 5 on his PC, which, to put an alarmist twist on it, shows the grave danger of playing PC games.
He was healthy and sharp, and it was a real shock for us. Only the week before I watched Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets with him.
He was a good man, who was always happy to help, and loved to learn and share what he learned. He will be missed by many.
Edit: I want to thank everyone for their thoughts. It's nice to see so much support. I've been at SG for over 5 years, and it's the only community I regularly visit these days. I posted only here about this. I was touched by the response, so thank you.
(Sorry if it will take me some time to respond to posts here.)
Edit 2: Interestingly, I got on a few whitelists and blacklists due to this topic (more whitelists than blacklists). Not sure why, but it's an interesting part of being on SG.
