If you haven't been phished then you have a backdoor, contact steam and wait.

All the passwords you're changing etc he can read so i wouldn't bother.Wipe/clean your PC now, then change your passwords for your emails.

Next time don't run dodgy .exe files or visit anything that gives you a java popup.

Type netstat -a
into your CMD.

Type out the IPs and ports here (hide your IP)
Small way to work out if you have a backdoor.

I'm sorry to say that, but... It seems to be totally your fault, how you can download a .exe file with a name like this: "Steam_Multi_Function_Hack.exe".
It's not really a hack, but much more a neglect.

What is the point of that group? 40000 people are in a group with Trojan file announcements and no discussions at all?

I guess admin of this group was hacked by this portuguese guy.

Victims are probably automatically added to the group and spam their friends with invites.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Speaking of added to the group, one of the people on my friends list is in the group.
I don't really know the friend other than they're an admin on a game server i play on that I added for support.
Should I tell them that they may be compromised?

Permalink

I think that would be going too far, just tell them that you have suspiscions about this group since they announce links for trojans and suggest them to leave it.

Btw, what e-mail provider do you use? I suggest using gmail and enabling 2-step verification . This way hackers won't be able to log in your e-mail account even if they manage to hijack it.

Doesn't he need a cell phone for 2-step verification? I know I do.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I think the security is worth the... what, $10 for used dumbphone and a prepaid card.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yea..... but you have to also think, paying for those prepaid cards can be expensive and last at most 1 - 2 months, and if you have to constantly use the 2-step verification in some cases of logging in at work or on a different computer the pay can rack up.

Anyone knows what happens if you report Sillibird's account for incorrect behaviour, and then write that he was hacked on the report details?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I don't think it works that way. If it were that way, many people would lose their accounts because they would ask their friends to do that on someone elses account, I suppose.

Permalink

but it should speed up the process, no? many red-flags surging on his account and support and whatnot

I think the sudden change in ip address, friends, name and so on would be enough of a red flag.

someone from your account contacted me and posted me an obvious link to a virus. after i asked, why did you do this, he removed me from contacts. i checked, he did change your account name and removed all friend contacts.
i'm gonna file a support ticket, just letting you know. hope they will help you get your account back!

Guys , I just had a chat with DOSH8NDABOYZ[jM. He's portuguese, much like the hacker. HE doesn't seem to know anything about the other guy. He claims he randomly got added and accepted the invite. Which, makes sense, considering he added me without knowing me either. Anyone knows how I can splash a screenshot in here, to show the conversation?

This?
"Trojan.Zbot, also called Zeus, is a Trojan horse that attempts to steal confidential information from the compromised computer. It may also download configuration files and updates from the Internet. The Trojan is created using a Trojan-building toolkit."

It seems so, but this is just the whole family and with a toolkit someone can just build it to his likings
