This thread makes me want to watch more of his films. I haven't seen any in a couple years. If I am remembering all of them, so far I have watched:
The Kid
City Lights
Modern Times
The Gold Rush
The Circus
The Great Dictator
I liked them all except for The Great Dictator. I also watched Chaplin from 1992 with Robert Downy Jr. and liked it a lot.
Do you watch his films? I always wanted to watch some films from Buster Keaton as well, but for some reason I always put it off and never got around to it.
Edit: I also watched Monsieur Verdoux, but didn't like it.

I'm not sure actually, I remember watching some black and white films as a kid, but mostly Laurel & Hardy, but I definitely knew about Charlie Chaplin ... but if I don't remember watching it, it probably doesn't count. (also, I was about 5 then, so I wouldn't have been able to read any of the dialogue, which might've made me think all silent films are boring ^^)
I would like to see some though, I saw The Artist a while ago and really liked it, and a few years ago I saw The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari open air in the middle of the city, with an actual piano player, it was amazing! (even with the street noise, or maybe because of it)
And these gifs all look like they're from great (silly) movies as well :)

I was born in the late 80's and my parents weren't the type to watch silent films, so I was never exposed to them at a young age. I always thought they would be boring and didn't become interested till I was in my mid 20's.
I'm not sure if I would of liked them earlier, but it is definitely possible to enjoy them without reading the dialogue because most of the story is told through the action and the characters movements and expressions. It would be similar to how a young kid can enjoy Tom and Jerry.
The Artist has been on my list of movies to watch for a while. I will get around to it one of these years :)
