No, but I want to play
No, I hate you EA for killing the sims (insert other game or studio)
No, I'd rather burn my money than pay for an EA game
You're crazy EA, why classic games are more expensive than modern games
For another option buy the DLC for $19.99

Nice biased poll :v
Plenty of discounted games from EA that are totally worth it, ME Legendary Edition especially.

The ironic part is that OP actually owns several EA games but barely touched any of them. So they practically gift money to EA for no reason, despite hating them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Why do you watch my games? You can find things you don't want to see.....

Of course there are games that are worth it, that is why the information on the offers is shared. Although I think the general consensus is that many EA policies are unpleasant.

There are good games poorly optimized for PC.
Absurd amount of poor quality DLC
So much micropayments that do not allow you to progress in te game
emblematic/transcendental sagas in a situation of poor quality
Incredible studios closed or focused on creating gachapone games

I guess my hate is that the sims 5 will be a game as a service, simcity is dead, there is no zuma 3 and plants vs zombies only comes out on mobile. and to play old games on current systems you must edit many files

As it was quick and easy enough to check if your actions are in alignment with your words, why shouldn't I?

Exactly! Op is missing this option. Origin... erm I mean EA App 🤣

Get some of the classics instead (no DRM), like Insaniquarium Deluxe or Feeding Frenzy 2 Deluxe.

Is there any difference with the old version other than looking slightly nicer? It's a great game but I feel like one of the most unnecessary remasters ever.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Old version is missing content. The remaster has all of the dlc. There was dlc that added in some of the extra content to the original game, but AFAIK it was still missing content. The remaster is overall the better game, but people still have issues getting it to launch properly if you go by the reviews

Huh, interesting. I always assumed that "the Ultimate Box" contained all of the DLC, guess the name was just a misnomer, or more likely intentional misdirection on the part of EA.
Thanks for the explanation.

I remember buying the "Ultimate Box" back on PS3 about a year after release without looking into it too much, when I also just assumed that it would include all the DLC, like similar "GotY" or "Complete Edition" of some other games at the time.

One of the first things when you boot up the game, was you being greeted with multiple menu options that you can click, only for the game to tell you afterwards, "sorry you must buy more DLC to access this mode/options/car".

Even worse there is a part of the map (Big Surf Island), that is already in the game and on the disc, and when you try to drive into the area and you're on the bridge that connects to the island, the game pauses and throws up a screen telling, "buy the DLC to access this area". At least in the original disc version of Burnout Paradise that extra island wasn't on the disc and there was no bridge there, but here it was right there on the disc, in the "ultimate edition" of the game, but you had to pay more if you wanted to access it.

This was the moment and the game that made me grow disillusioned with EA and to an extent modern gaming and the industry in general. I realised, no longer will you be able to just buy a game and have the full game with all the content on the disc, and that this kind of thing will only get worse and more prevalent as time goes on. Still, loved the game though.

The worst part about the original PC version, is that eventually there was a way to partially buy the DLC.. but to do it you also bought a cheat/early unlock with it (they were bundled together). Not sure if that's still a thing and I believe there were mods to illegally unlock it anyway.. But if you wanted to legally own the DLC you were still fucked because it unlocked a bunch of shit for you without having to earn it on your own. Really stupid process lol. At this point it doesn't matter anymore though, better to play the remastered version.

Now I'm actually curious to go back and check because I really can't remember that, maybe I just never noticed that there was an inaccesible part of the map, I also wouldn't be surprised if I just forgot.

Comment has been collapsed.

Soooo, I went and played the game after not touching it since 2017 (according to steam) and indeed there's no such thing as a Big Surf Island in there, which is probably why I never noticed that the DLC was missing, I just didn't know that there was supposed to be more map to the map. So I guess I'll consider getting the Remaster at some point, although probably not soon looking at how cheap it used to be until last year (kicking myself for not getting it before dollarization).

BTW I had forgotten just how fun the game is, just driving around in the map looking for a race or how to break yet another billboard and crashing into the oncoming traffic by accident is enjoyable. They really nailed those crashing models. Now I'm wishing for EA to someday allow Criterion to make a proper sequel, it's been so long without a new Burnout.

Maybe one day, if EA ever decides to revive one of their non-Need For Speed arcade racers... man do I miss Road Rash.

Yeah, definitely worth it, especially since it doesn't need origin but at the same time EA killed the series... The creator even wanted to produce a sequel of his own but was shutdown... So they keep the rights and doesn't do anything with it....

I second this, the more people get this the better. Despite everything, I am still dreaming of the the slim hope that as more people buy this, and more people keep asking for a sequel, one day EA will finally approve/greenlight Alice Asylum.

Oh Wow, I somehow missed that Origin is dead hahaha
I've ignored EA for so long that I didn't know that damn.
I said origin due to what I knew and that it still says on the games on steam
"Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: EA on-line activation and Origin client software installation and background use required."
So technically you could act against them for forcing you to install something else that isn't origin xD

Seems like it doesn't install the EA App, but it has an option to log in from within the game itself (which can be bypassed by clicking on the X on the login screen.) I also wonder if it'll pick up any existing EA app installation and log in with the credentials from it.

This poll needed an "EA sells the games for 10-20% higher prices in my lower income country for some fucking reason" option.

Do I want these games? Yes. But why should I pay $1-$4 more than an American? Either give us the same price, or give us proper regional pricing. Until then, they can fuck off.

It's definitely not.

Microsoft, Capcom, and several Japanese publishers do this too. Just ask a Brazilian how Arc System Works treats them.

Then we have SNK - who literally sells their games at half price in Latin America. Because they KNOW higher prices will only lead to piracy here.

Still have to buy and/or play A Way Out, Unravel 1-2, It Takes Two, Fe - considering the prices, paying for a month of EA Play (or getting off-Steam gamepass) is the best course of action.

The last time I even considered purchasing a full-price title from EA was a decade ago with Dragon Age: Inquisition, and given everything that's happened with both EA and Bioware since, I don't think DA: Dreadwolf will get the same consideration, even if it really does launch this year.

The neat thing about having Game Pass is that the included EA Play subscription links directly to Origin/the EA App - even though Windows apps like the MS Store and Xbox App don't run on Linux/Steam Deck, I can still download EA titles just fine through EA themselves. Unfortunately there's not much currently on EA Play that I want and haven't picked up from a bargain bin or as a freebie from some other service, except maybe the Jedi games starring Joker/not-Joker from I Was A Teenage Bat-Man.

I won't ever touch a Disney SW game(also Disney+EA...holy shit), but just out of curiosity, what is the reason game like Squadrons & Jedi Order are sold as cheap as this, this "early"?
Are they that crap? Losing players?

Comment has been collapsed.

STAR WARS™: Squadrons probably by players.

I imagine the rest of the games are only to make money, many large companies make offers to scratch a few dollars (perhaps to please investors), Playability the Star Wars games are not bad (they don't stand out much either), in history several fans are disappointed.

I would say that they put them on sale because they are generic and it is the only way to sell to people who are not fans.

I can believe that analysis, 85-90% sales can tempt a lot of people, especially if its a franchise that recognizable by name, even if you don't necessarily have much history with it.

Comment has been collapsed.

Keep in mind that historically, at least on consoles, most EA games have dropped to value prices pretty quickly. With physical PC releases all but dead (and console discs seemingly on the way out) it's less of a concern, but the digital pricing does have to compete with its own physical availability - thus, cheap sales.

Squadrons was already a budget title, launching at $40, and being aimed primarily at VR players it absolutely sold like shit.

Jedi: Fallen Order is closing in on five years old, distinctly last-gen, and has a sequel available in Jedi: Survivor (itself a year old and available on subscription services like Game Pass and EA Play, though not as heavily discounted). A cheap entry point allows them to draw new players into the franchise, hopefully in good enough time that they'll be able to make a tidy sum selling the sequel to them before it bottoms out in price.

Comment has been collapsed.

Huh, I didn't realize that Fallen Order came out that long ago, and the same goes for the VR angle on Squadrons.
Seems like I've been mixing up Fallen Order and Survivor, oh well, won't be getting neither.

Its interesting to get a...low-down on marketing, if you will.
