Ok thank you :) you know anything about motherboards? i mean would that motherboard support intell CPU?
Comment has been collapsed.
Ok so the one that follows isenough? i also have one cause my friend was throwing his pc out and i said i could use his fans. its some big monster of a fan that useuelly follows an acer pc
Comment has been collapsed.
could be some crap ive never bought an intel core/build my own pc :)
Comment has been collapsed.
I have one of these by my side is it better than the fan that coms with?
Comment has been collapsed.
That looks massive and hideous o.O. If you want an after-market cooler buy something like a Hyper 212 EVO.
Comment has been collapsed.
i think ill stay with the intel one xD this was some i found in a dead pc from ACER xD
Comment has been collapsed.
Only one, possibly two things I'd change here.
Change the graphics card to a 660 TI, it's ~$40 more but worth it. I will say though, a 660 won't have massive longevity left in it. It'll run current games fine but will soon need dropping down to medium etc.
I don't know the quality of the XFX PSU's so can't comment on that. However, I'd go for a bit more than a 550 incase I wanted to SLI/Crossfire in the future or change any other parts.
Comment has been collapsed.
No. It won't die faster. And about that PSU - you can buy it for now. If you will decide to make SLI system in the future or do anything else that will need different one you can always sell this one and buy new one. And yes - that motherboard supports CPU you chose. It has LGA1155 socket just like that i5 CPU. And by the way - are you going to overclock that CPU? If yes then you will need different fan. If no - you can use the one that comes with CPU.
Comment has been collapsed.
i thought that would be the easiest way and i hope that the sytstem With 660 Ti will hold for a year or two
Comment has been collapsed.
^ This is what i wanted to change too. The Ti gives you + half the performance more of the standard 660. So it's really worth it.
Comment has been collapsed.
It will hold. And by the way - I updated my previous post a bit. But yeah - the fan that comes with CPU will be fine if you don't overclock the CPU. I think it's the same fan I got with my i3-3220 but Intel puts in the same fan for around 10 years now so don't worry - it's fine.:D If you want to overclock it you should get Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO or something similar to that.
Comment has been collapsed.
No overclocking... im sure i would ruin my system if i tried
Comment has been collapsed.
It doesn't 'die fast'. It's just how they work. You buy a mid-range card today, and it'll stop being able to max games in a year or so. You have to weigh up whether you mind playing future games on lower settings, whether you'd be prepared to buy a new card every few years, or whether you'd rather spend more now and get a little longer from your system.
Nothing is future proof.

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660Ti 3GB PhysX? would that be awesome or fucked?
Comment has been collapsed.
Personally I'd get an EVGA, but that's purely because I like their Nvidia cards.
Comment has been collapsed.
but would 3GB be better than 2GB or just waste of money?
Comment has been collapsed.
I agree, my last 2 cards and mobo are EVGA and have had no problems with them. My buddy goes with EVGA as well and he was able to get a better card for free because one of his older cards from them was acting up and since they didn't have any more of the one he had they gave him a better card. Can't go wrong with EVGA, specially with their step up program where you can upgrade you card each year to the new version for pretty cheap and their lifetime warranties which from what i have been hearing from around the web, actually honor them unlike most other companies who comes up with bogus excuses.

Regarding SSD, for gaming purposes it's almost moot since most of the heavy work is in graphics and memory, not read/write files (you'll be seeing a difference of a second or two in loading screens in most games besides the super unoptimized ones). If you're worried about space make sure your case has USB 3.0 ports and get an external 3.0 2T HDD (I think Western Digital sells it at a decent price, depends on the retailer - if you have access to newegg then perfect).
I agree with the GPU switch to 660Ti (most games should run well enough on High). If you're looking to really max out your rig then you should consider a dual GPU setup. It might break your budget though.
Comment has been collapsed.
Ok so no SSD ill just get a 2 tb HDD i already have one with all my steam shit on (1TB of games) and switch to 660Ti
Comment has been collapsed.
im probably going to move 1TB of steam stuff (steamapps) that would take some time withh HHD ... would it take that lesser time with ssd?

For backwards gaming compatibility (see old XP games and such) I hear Windows 7 is much better than W8. But W8 has the latest version of DirectX 11 and Microsoft promised that earlier versions of Windows will not get the update, so I suppose it's an even tip as to which you prefer.
If you don't play much old PC games, go with Windows 8. If you often load up GoG or DOSBox or run things in XP compatibility then you'd want to stick with Windows 7.
If you absolutely loathe everything Metro trust me, stick with Windows 7. It has enough of a lifespan left that you won't be amiss for at least another few years.
Comment has been collapsed.
so staying with Win7 would be better if i want to play every game in my library? should it be cracked cause i dont have 1000-2000 dkk
Comment has been collapsed.
According to my friends the cracked versions of Windows 7/8 run just fine. There's also plenty of legit loopholes to upgrade for free? I think, including one that involved the Media Center (not sure if closed yet or not).
If you have a lot of older games in your library then yes, I definitely recommend sticking with Windows 7.
*Whoops, didn't see that it was W7. I know a few guys who run on that right now and it's as smooth as butter according to them. I'm still waiting to try and get my legit copy, but it'll set me back a few hundred bucks and I just spent a few hundred upgrading other tech.
Comment has been collapsed.
do you know if its possible to run win8 and win7 on one pc like i have win7 and linux on this one?
Comment has been collapsed.
It's very possible as long as you know how to partition. I hear Windows 8 makes partitioning almost a painless job with a refined setup and such. Create an empty partition, boot into your OS disc (when inserted) and install from there? Should be something similar like that.
Comment has been collapsed.
Personally I'd go for W8 at this time purely because it's the latest version and much cheaper. While it has it's flaws and certainly isn't perfect it's still a fine OS.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah ill probably use English if not danish or icelandic though im on ultimate now and still uses english
Comment has been collapsed.
Just mentioning it because I recently had to send my PC back to have the GPU replaced (faulty nVidia one), and the bloody technicians formatted my HDD and reinstalled Win7 Home Premium, but in french (I do speak fluent french, but I don't really have the technical vocabulary for it, and I like my computer in English). I intended to fix it by simply installing an English language pack, but then discovered it was only available to Win7 Ultimate
So I eventually had to reinstall Win7 Home Premium again in English

wouldnt 550w be enough for this hardware? + should i pirate and then (idk how i did it) go into activate productkey and cancel? i got free windows like that
Comment has been collapsed.
600 and 750 costed the same so i should go with 750?
ill stay with the 550W
Comment has been collapsed.
Dont know where have you been for last 3-5 years, but power demanding beasts like Intel Quads and GTX480 are long gone. Most users of these beast sold them with their share in power industry. Oh and Im just running on 400W PSU, X4 Deneb B50 (rev. C2) with ATi 5770 and still have reserve for "reasonable" OC.
Comment has been collapsed.
People tend to buy way more PSU than they actually need, and the PSU industry has no small role in that. I plugged the PC into a Kill-a-watt and was amazed at how little power it pulls at full load. A 400-420W PSU is plenty for most machines these days.
Comment has been collapsed.
I must agree with you but some people buy more powerful one for the future. Some think they will upgrade to SLI/Crossfire and then you need powerful PSU. I have 500W one myself (JNC one so it probably works like 400W one from Fortron or Corsair). And my system needs only around 300W (I think less). But since I got it with my JNC case I really didn't pay much (40$ for case + PSU). Probably gonna upgrade to better graphics card so I'll need more powerful PSU (now I have HD6670) and that's why I got this one.
Comment has been collapsed.
Just buy Win 8. Most of the games will work on since it's base is made from Win 7. There will be some problems with some games but there are fixes that can be found using Google. Win 8 is cheaper and I like really like it. It takes some time to learn it but it's faster than Win 7 and it uses less PC resources (RAM, CPU etc.) than Win 7. I have it as my second system (I have Win 7 Ultimate x64 and Win 8 Pro x64) and I really can feel the difference. And Metro UI isn't that bad as everyone says - when you delete tiles you don't need and put the ones you need where you like it's actually pretty convenient. And you don't need antivirus because Windows Defender comes by default and there's already MSE integrated in it. Sure you can use another AV to scan your computer from time to time but Windows Defender will catch almost all of the stuff that isn't good for your computer. And don't listen to people who say it's not made for gaming - it's almost same as Win 7 and you won't have problems gaming most of the time.
Comment has been collapsed.
ok ill look at it and try it on my laptop firts :)
Comment has been collapsed.
I have no problems using it with a mouse. There's no problem with mouse and Win 8. And I don't really care what Gaben has said about Win 8 because I know how it works. I have used Win 98, Win XP, Win Vista, Win 7 and Win 8 and I think I know which from these is better and which isn't usable. Ok, Win 98 and XP are older and they are slowly losing support anyway. But Win Vista, Win 7 and Win 8 are on same step - Vista after SP1 has no problems and it works and Win 8 is almost same as Win 7 - same shell just updated look and some things like Task Manager and Windows Defender. IMO Win 8 is the next OS you will use after some years. People didn't like Win 7 too in the beginning but now most of the people use it.
Comment has been collapsed.
Your opinion is ultimately your opinion. People jumped on Windows 7 because it was what Vista was supposed to be, but refined. Some even complained that they were charging money for W7 when it was essentially Vista 2.0 .
I personally dislike the workflow of W8 on desktop but enjoy it on touchscreens.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, it takes time to get used to it but when you learn how Win 8 works it's much more easier to do stuff. Yes, it's made more for touchscreens but it's easy to use with mouse too when you get used to it. Atleast I have no problems with that.

Sys req in Steam are added when the game is added. If there wasn't Win 8 when the game was added to Steam - how can they write it can be played on Win 8? I'm playing Carmageddon which came out in late 90's on Win 7. I just had to set compatibility to Win 98 and run it as administrator. Lots of fun with that game.

go for not pirated windows, install original version (whatever you want Home, Premium or Ultimate, no need to buy I think you can download it from Torrents) and you can use it for free for 1 month, then you, in Command Prompt, insert command slmgr /rearm to expand it more 1 month, overall you can do it 3 times (thus you can have official supported Windows 7 for 120 days)
Comment has been collapsed.
why more powerfull PSU? i think 550W will be good enough i mean im not using a hell of many lights im just gonna play on my pc not look at the inside of it + if im going to download at night i would be destrackted by the lights

ok just like me :P besides i useuelly dont roll on the floor while laughing

i support that, Win 8 has to wait for more service packs to get better

CPU - Sweet! But if you want to save some money and you're not gonna overclock it, buy the non-K one.
CPU cooler - No, no, no... This could kill you, buy a proper cpu cooler or go with the stock one. I'd take at least the Scythe Mine 2, maybe the Gelid Tranquillo, or be a classic and go with the Noctua ❤❤❤
Ram - 8 GB is good enough for gaming, and the brand, well, it really doesn't matter that much. If you can get cheaper sticks by Kingstone or Corsair with a passive cooling, take them instead. The difference is negligible. Just make sure that you're buying two sticks (2x 4GB), not just one...
Motherboard - Pretty good choice, I'd go with this one if you don't want to save money on the motherboard.
GPU - Yup, sweet GPU. If you have some money left, go with the Ti version. But this one is powerful enough too. And about the cooler on it, I usually build PCs with the MSI cooler, but those Gigabyte are very popular as well, I just don't like the blue PCB :D. So it's up to you :)
PSU - Yea, 550W+- is enough. Altough I'm not sure about the brand, they don't sell these in my country. I'd go with the Seasonic M12II-520, or with the Seasonic SS-500ET F3 if you want something a bit cheaper. But this one won't look so good in your case because it's silver :P. There is also option to go with a better Corsair one, or with the Enermax. But the Enermax's PSUs are quite expensive.
HDD - BUY AN SSD! Seriously, it's a huge difference! (not in gaming performance) I'd rather spend less on the cpu/gpu/mb to be able to get an ssd.
Case - If you like the case, yep, take it. It's a proper case. Although it has an open side with a huge fan, so it's gonna be loud as sh*t. If you want something more quiet, look for something with closed sides panels and with noise-reducing material. Like the Fractal Define series, but well, it's up to you what you like and what you want ;-)
OS - Go with the Windows 8, the Windows 7 is mainstream today, but it's not gonna be in a few years. So why would you buy older OS, right? :P
Comment has been collapsed.
im gonna stick with the intel cooler
keeping the ram
im going with the non K CPU
keeping motherboard
sticking with 660Ti
sticking with PSU
going with a SSD and A HDD maybe
Win7 30days and then upgrade to win8 i think
would that be good???
Comment has been collapsed.
Yep, just:
Case - Nop, the Corsair is nicer. The CM Storm has some certain features, but it looks so weird and so cheap :S. Pick something what you like and remember that less fans = less noise, less holes and no glass = less noise. But it depends if you want a silent computer... If so, tell me, I'll give you more tips for dead silent computer. And if it has any larger fan than 120mm / 140mm, it's just a BS... They're also quite hard to replace (only a few models on market).
HDD - Go with SSD + HDD for sure, an SSD is too expensive for storing the data. Or go with a HDD with an SSD built in, I've never used them tho.
OS - It won't make a difference, but whatever.
Comment has been collapsed.
its cheaper cause 30day free and 200dkk update. would be nice with less sound as possible but i have no big ammount of money. i would buy only HDD first and then maybe later buy a SSD
Comment has been collapsed.
Not bad, sounds like pretty good deal. But isn't just for computers that comes with W7 OEM?
That might mean that you won't buy the SSD in future at all. Do you have any old hdd that you could use as your temporary storage hdd? Then you could buy the SSD now ◕ ‿ ◕
Comment has been collapsed.
i have a 320 GB HDD in my laptop and a 2TB External HDD
But what about the shound/noise?
Comment has been collapsed.
I know you can use them. I have seen some builds with only 2.5" HDD's because they use less space and people can put more of them in. Was going to do that myself but then thought - nah, will buy 3.5" one and no probs.
And yes, it's the same inside but those USB cables are making their life shorter. I have an old IDE drive that I can't connect without USB adapter - more and more bad sectors after every use. Good thing I don't use it that often and that I don't have important info in it.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's not because of the cables. It's the way of using the hard drives. Like, if you're transporting it all the time, sometimes you move with the hard drive when it's running, sometimes it's not on a flat surface... And also, if you're connecting the hard drive only to backup something, it's also bad for it. The hard drives are designed to run all the time under constant temperature.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, the disk will have better use in the notebook, and the external hdd, if you're using it for backup, it's not good solution either. But it's possible to take the disc out of the box and use it in your computer. Or you can even use in the box, if it has eSata or USB3.0.
The noise? Do you want me to modify the build to be less noisy?
Comment has been collapsed.
i dont see any bolts on the external hdd so idk if its possible to take the hdd out of the case :( ive used it for my steam stuff the external HDD i mean. i would perfer as little sound as possible if it doesnt cost that much
Comment has been collapsed.
Dude c'mon. SSD isn't a thing you can't live without. If he gets normal 7200rpm HDD from good manufacturer he won't get much of a sound anyway and it will run good enough. Later he can upgrade!
And that Windows thing goes with all versions. He can even pirate Windows 7 if he wants.
Comment has been collapsed.
Definitely get Win 7(x64), Win 8 is just Bill's another fail (id say its already a tradition for him, to release s**tty OS's after a successful ones as it was with Millenium and Vista). Other than that, this set will definitely serve you for a long time.
Comment has been collapsed.
i'd get a gtx 670 instead of a gtx 660 or gtx 660 ti. The gtx 660 and 660 ti are bottlenecked by their 192 bit memory interfaces. The minimum fps benchmarks really highlight the memory bandwidth issue, especially in Crysis.
For the OS windows 8 has DX 11.1 while windows 7 has up to DX 11. DX 12 is likely not going to be supported by windows 7. I have a feeling most people who are saying to get windows 7 will upgrade to windows 9 to get DX 12. So if you chose windows 7, then your probably going to need windows 9 down the road. Or you can choose windows 8 and get DX 11.1 and hope it gets DX 12. Anyways my favorite OS going from best to worst is windows 95, then xp, vista, 7, and 8. Vista, 7, 8 have a lot of compatibility issues with software before 2000. I don't understand why a complex coded OS cannot run code from a simpler OS.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, they have 192bit memory interfaces but GTX670 costs much more and it's even more expensive in Denmark where he lives. Besides GTX660Ti will run all games that are available ATM and probably will run most that comes out this year fine. Maybe not on ultra but atleast on medium.
Comment has been collapsed.
670 is pretty expensive here every pc part is its like twice of what it costs in us. Crysis is one game series i have plenty to play besides from that.
