The newest XCom, Civ II (looking forward to trying Civ 4 or 5 now that i have a computer to play it on), Deus Ex, and Baldur's Gate series all were sooooo difficult to put down and go to sleep.

You will finally understand why people have been talking about this game for 20 years. D

FM and Out of the Park were under the same roof for awhile. I'm not a football/soccer fan, but OOTP is the same level of insane stat crunch goodness.

I spent 100+ hours on CoH2 just grinding for it's 360+ achievements and bulletins. I only got 52% though...:(

Sim City does that, The Sims used to do. Most SIM games, really... I just want to see what happens for the next hour. |:
For non-SIM, I have to say that most RPGs - just ONE MORE level, promise! That one was fast so one more... and another... ok, after this one I'll stop... and here I am, 5 hours later. |:

Can't ever stop Civilization... Was too young to play 1 and 2, but 3-5 were all equally addictive to me.
SimCity 4 as well.. And The Sims and The Sims 2. The Sims 3 didn't have the same effect :/
Oh oh, MechWarrior Online does this a lot to me. "One more match... One more match..."

MW:O Was in that category for me and still is if I actually play it. I enjoy the game but after the first "tournament" they had I ended up playing a lot more casually and cut back my time in the game quite a bit. I still enjoy it and will play it more consistently later on, just taking a semi-extended break to catch up on some other games for a while.

Civilization and Team fortress. The two series I always come back to.

Civilization, Mass Effect, Dota 2, Mount & Blade: Warband.

Well, usually depends on what type of game I want...ex:If I want to play a medieval styled game I take Mount and Blade Warband(1500 hours on it already :D) or Cursader Kings 2( with 400 hours),if I want to play a great shooter simulator I take Arma 2,if I want zombies..of course DayZ...I usually take a game and play it till I grow bored of it,take another and so...

Any game in the Total war series, every time when i'm playing late at night i keep on thinking just one more turn to finish up some actions/battles so i won't forget about them when i continue and this goes on for hours until either the game freezes/crashes or i can't keep my eyes open.

I really wish I could get ETW to run without crashing. :(
I have a feeling I would love that series, but haven't been able to play.

I assume you try to run it on a 32 -bit o.s.?
That always causes memory leaks when you have more then 3gb RAM, hence the crashes you experience, I actually have a seperate partition with a clean install of windows 7 64-bit just for all total war games (that came after medieval 2 that is)

Nope. 64 bit. It hard crashes the entire computer upon launch. Have tried all the user suggestions I have found, and so far, no dice.
At this stage, it is uninstalled and I will not buy another TW series game unless I find a fix for this. It was inexpensive, but I'd rather have spent my money on a nice hot breakfast. It would've lasted just as long and been more satisfying.
I am far from alone in having these issues. But support on both ends seems not to care a lick.

Yeah that's all to true, Empire total war is the worst TW game ever released imo, I haven't even been able to finish a campaign once since my savegames tend to get corrupted 150-200 turs in, and a lot of minor bugs like forts that cannot be repaired (which is a huge pain in the ass when defending)
And just like you said, they never even cared and moved on to the next title in the franchise, but that being said medieval 2 and shogun 2 are really stable games compared to empire and i can highly advice you to give them a go if you're into the type of gameplay TW games can offer.

Well, when I had Mass Effect in my hands, I was playing it non-stop. #1, #2, #3. Repeat. To be honest, when I look back... I think ' How could I play the same game about 10 ten times in about 4 months?'
Ratchet and Clank has a similar effect, but so does Jak N' Daxter. Not many games tend to create this kind of effect for me, but I could also put in New Vegas. Then again, I use mods, so vanilla New Vegas might not really be the case.

Oh, yeah, and Borderlands 1. That's still fun, and I enjoy it more than 2, because it's simpler.

Mass Effect is one of the best video game franchises I have ever played. And I haven't touched the third one...yet.

It's not as bad as everyone says, and even then... The 'bad' part is the ending. The ending can be viewed at several ways. Of course, I don't feel like typing a huge post just to explain it, so I'd suggest you buy the game + the DLCs ( I haven't played any of them, but I've seen videos of Citadel. It looks great, and everyone I've asked on comments etc. say it's the best DLC )to really enjoy it. Also, that extended cut DLC.
And really... You'd be stupid to not buy it just because of an ending. As I like to believe... ' It's the journey, not the destination'. Or however that saying goes, haha.

Yeah. That's how it goes. And it's definitely on my list...somewhere down the line.

Would love some thoughts on games that you just can't stop playing. That you have to do just ONE MORE TURN. Or clear one more area. Or get to that next checkpoint/objective.
For me, the Civilization series does this. To a lesser extent Endless Space. I guess I'm a 4X dude. I s'pose I need to pick up Legendary Enchantress. :)
Mass Effect series does this for me to some degree, too.
And sim-only type stuff sometimes gets me. Out of the Park Baseball and (once I get past the shit UI/tutorials) Crusader Kings II.
What are yours? Maybe I'll learn about some new games.
