For calls, I have the Codec ring from Metal Gear Solid 3.
For, text messages, it's the Mockingjay whistle from Hunger Games.
For app notifications, it's the whistle at the end of all the Old Spice commercials.

On US networks, standard is 4 rings before voicemail once connected to that phone's network. Any more and you're hearing rings while your phone is being routed, which can be recognized by slightly different tone quality and may lead to a partial 5th network ring if data bleeds over on network connect. Any less than 4 and the signal was lost on one end or they screened you and pushed you to voicemail.
