I had the SWTOR version of this mouse (same shape/size, just different color scheme) and the finger rests weren't big enough as the entire mouse is not terribly large or at least wasn't large enough for me to really rest my hand on. Then again I'm 6'8" so I'm somewhat of a statistical outlier in terms of size.

Wow, I didn't know as well. Thanks for the information

The Mionix Naos is a wonderfully comfortable mouse. The Naos comes in 3 different models that are differentiated by max DPI and a few other features. I managed to find the top one (8200) on a big sale, but I'm sure the 7000 or 3200 would be fine too. All 3 are exactly the same shape, and I can assure you from about 3 months worth of experience that as a 6'8" guy with huge hands and long fingers, this mouse addressed that hand cramping very well.

I use middle finger too for mouse2. To scroll or use mouse3, I also use my middle finger. I rarely have to use both buttons at the same time, the only example I can think of the top of my head is late in the game Antichamber, which gets a bit more problematic and uncomfortable having to use the ring finger or index finger. It's not the most optimal way of doing things I guess, but it's the most comfortable to me.

I bought it 1 year ago. Still looks like the first day.

Logitech G600, I actually tested this mouse in one store, and it's ultra comfortable, I think the next mouse I'll buy will be this one.

This is probably not what your looking for, but its different so check it out... http://www.gamingmouse.com/gaming/r2-omnimouse/

Careful with this one. I looked at it as it appeared to have good finger rests, but it is a VERY short mouse from the top (front) to bottom (back) and really seemed best suited to a claw grip. Look up a couple reviews and you'll probably see reviewers recommending it for claw grip too. For palm grip, you need on that will actually come all the way back to your palm.

Razer Naga 2012 (not sure of other versions do or not since i only have the 2012 version) comes with a few different size and shape finger rests that are pretty decent.

I use a RAT 9, and I love the little wing attachment on the right side. I only need it to hold my pinky, and while I know it'd fit both of my fingers... my hands are likely a bit smaller than yours. =p Still might be worth looking into. Honestly, I love all of the neat little attachments. Though I use it exclusively with the rubber palm grip, the pinky wing, and nearly all of the weights I can stuff inside it... but it's nice to have the options, ya know?
I just love my mouse, haha. It's wireless, but comes with rechargeable batteries, only takes a moment to switch them out once, maybe twice, a day. It's got a few extra buttons, and it's a bit pricey ($150~ USD range, when I bought it 2 years ago) but it's held up for two years, no issues. /knock on wood.
Here's a better shot of the pinky-rest wing. (And yes, they have a pad on the bottom so it's level with the rest of the mouse. Didn't realize that was a 'new' feature.)

+a gazillion. I thought the R.A.T. 7 would be very difficult and uncomfortable, but it's THE BEST MOUSE I've ever had... and I've been buying specialty gaming mice since the very first Razer Boomslang. The R.A.T. series (at least the 7 I have) is amazingly customizable for a perfect fit, and it comes with a few interchangeable palm rests if I recall correctly. My ring finger and pinky rest on the right hand side little "ski" thing and I don't get pain in those fingers anymore. Totally worth every penny for me.

I like mice at least as big as my Razer Deathadder which is very comfortable, but Razer software is just bad, there are some Logitech ones, I did adjusted the RAT mouse when I tested it in one store, just because the mouse had some missing parts, but if you can adjust it to make it bigger that would be nice, but maybe I'm just used to a big mouse, and you can get used to any mouse really, for me another really comfortable one is the Logitech G600.

I must be the only one here, but I don't even have a gaming mouse (yet?). I'm still using a black "Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical 1.1a". Simple, but effective and comfortable. I love it so much, I have bought a couple of spare ones.
For those who have a gaming mouse, did you try it before making a purchase or you just bought it and hoped for the best?

DEFINITELY try them out before buying them, if possible. They're very expensive so if you can at least put one in your hand and see how it feels you might be able to avoid wasting a bunch of time and money.

I tried out the Logitech performance mouse MX before buying it. I thought it was very comfortable, But I found out that long term use gave me cramps, which you can't really know when trying for a few minutes in a store. So even with trying, try to think of what the mouse will feel like after hours of using.

Number One rule of online shopping: read the return policy.
I didn't try mine before ordering it. Couldn't find it locally. Can't exactly try on clothes before I buy them online, either; just gotta hope for the best, and if it doesn't fit, you return it and get a refund. Returning isn't the nightmare it's made out to be... with, uh, a lot of stores online. In my experiences, anyway.
I think it was ThinkGeek I got my mouse from? I dunno. The policy was something about just sending everything back in the original packaging for a full refund. I remember 'cause I still have the original box on my closet floor.

I'm a tall guy with large hands so I've run into this very same issue.
The 2 best mice I've ever seen/felt/used to address it are the following:
Mionix Naos (as someone previously mentioned and I replied about above)
SteelSeries World of Warcraft Cataclysm Gaming Mouse
Both are large mice that have good rests on the right side for the ring and pinky fingers. The WoW mouse is the larger of the two and harder to find at a decent price since it has been out of production for a while now. I bought the Mionix Naos 8200 (also comes in 3200 and 7000) for my gaming PC and I cannot praise it enough. It is a fantastically comfortable mouse. A good friend has the WoW Cataclysm mouse and I've used it at a couple LAN parties and can swear by that one as well.
I had a Razor Naga (the SWTOR themed one) and it was just too small even with the finger rest attachment to be really comfortable over the long term. If I played anything for an hour or more the muscle on the right edge of my hand would start to cramp up. Best of luck with your search and let us know what you decide on and how you do with it.

The Steelseries mouse has a few too many buttons in the wrong places for me to be interested in it, but the Mionix Naos looks lovely. Will try it out in a store nearby somewhere if possible. Thanks for letting me know and I will let you know the choice I make when I do.

I think most Fry's stores have them, but I haven't seen them most other places unfortunately.

I haven't made a final decision, but since I can't try the Mionix Naos and the Logitech G600's 12 side-buttons kill an otherwise nice buy, it seems like it will most likely be the Dragonwar Thor Gaming Mouse.
It's almost the same as the one I put in my forum description, the Speedlink Decus Gaming Mouse. Same price in my region. Same shape. Both almost identical except that the Dragonwar mouse instead of glossy plastic it seems to be build with a rubbery finish, which is nice.
It also helps that I have bought a mousepad by Dragonwar about a year ago that I'm still satisfied with now, so I have a bit more confidence it wont be a shitty mouse that breaks after a few months. What's left is having to check if the store where it's available has a good return policy so that I can bring it back if I'm not satisfied.

Very cool. They look pretty nice. Let me know how it works out for you when you get it. Either reply on here or shoot me a message on Steam.

Hey, I know this is long overdue, but you asked me to let you know what mouse I got if I ever decided on one. I finally bought one. The one I got is indeed the Dragonwar Thor Gaming Mouse. I've only used it for a few hours, so I can't really give you an opinion on it yet, but I'll let you know in a week or two if you want me to.

I love my Logitech G500, Ive got fairly big hands and this gives me a lot of support and the extra weight is nice too. There is also a cheaper version without weights , but that is a little too light for my taste.

As some of you might know, it can be quite a pain to find the right mouse for you, and even more painful if you bought one that doesn't feel as good as you thought it was going to.
I need a mouse for my ring finger and little finger to rest on, so that I don't get cramps.
The closest I've gotten to the right mouse is the Speedlink Decus Gaming Mouse, but I was wondering if anyone knows any better alternatives before I make a pretty expensive purchase.
Some extra details: Price doesn't matter, Extra buttons aren't necessary, It doesn't need to be a gaming mouse, I'm willing to sacrifice wireless for this, ...
Edit: Also, I'm right handed, with a palm grip.
Basically, go wild in the comments linking mice you think might be good. My ring finger and pinky are counting on you!
