I was pleasantly surprised to see the overwhelmingly positive to negative like to dislike ratio on YouTube ^_^.
This game will help push the limits of VR and hopefully inspire other AAA studios to make high quality VR games as well.
As an Oculus Rift owner, I'm very excited to see what the future brings.

Oh man, oh man... I got the game for free. Thanks to the Steam Controller fuck-up Valve had in 2015, I (and everyone who logged on on MacOS at least once) got a special lifetime subscription that promised all past and future Valve titles for free. But of course Valve didn't make any games since then. So, that was disappointing. Now it finally paid off. Yay! ^^

Well, they promised MacOS support on launch. But when the controller was out, it just wasn't working. I believe it took them at least some weeks to get it done. So they offered this compensation, which is probably easy to give for a company that pretty much abandonded game development at the time and focussed solely on their sales platform. Some people got quite a bit of value right of the bat, with all those Valve games. I, as a collector, already had all those. So Alyx is actually the first thing I got for free now. Considering as a VR fan I definitely would have dropped 50€ for it, I really can't complain. ;)

But I guess they decided to shield themselves from the usual shit-river of complaints that probably came their way on release.

Looks like some of the developers from Campo Santo (Firewatch/In the Valley of the Gods) have jumped in to help Valve with Half-Life: Alyx development, along with other Valve projects.
