EDIT - CHECK YOUR EMAIL PEOPLE!!!!

I dont know about you guys but I think there should be a rule here for a time limit. My contest ended 9hrs ago and the person still hasn't accepted the gift.

I think that people should have 12 hrs, or 24hrs max to accept the gift then it should go to someone else.

Ever heard of different timezones? Ever heard of working people, not able to check their gaming sites every 30 minutes?
Sometimes I cant get in contact with my steam for days.

My brother won a Giveaway and it took 6 days until he could get in contact with the gifter. Still a reasonable time!

then you shouldn't be on this website!!!! 6 days is way too long and I would have given my gift to someone else long before that.

They added each other on Steam but just couldn't get in contact, Europe and America have different timezones and my brother was quite busy so they never met.

He received it via E-Mail by now but I think the gifter would have preferred some personal contact.

Anyway, I'm glad there are more relaxed people out there ... This is no Chat (or even a Chan) where everything disappears after a few hours. Give it some time!

well if they added each other on steam then that i can understand, atleast they made some contact or effort to get in touch with each other. I'd be ok with that.

But i hate that there's no effort what so ever and those people should be skipped over.

sending the gift via email does solve the problem of different time zones. the winner can just accept it whenever he has time. no need for them to be online at the same time

One one of my giveaways, the person took a few days to accept the gift, and then another day or two to come here and leave feedback. I don't have a problem with it as long as it isn't too long. The gifter has one week to send the gift out, the receiver should have one week from when it was sent to accept and leave feedback.

I believe it is a week, same as submitters not sending gifts.

I believe it should be less for the receivers, since the giver in my eyes earns extra grace for giving.

Lol. The week is in place to give people the time to gift and receive. You know, people are busy.

Like, say I was entered in some contests ending today, or sometime this weekend. I plan on going camping this weekend, wont be back til next week. It's not fair to say "you can't win because you haven't vegged out in front of your computer this whole weekend, you actually went out and did something".

I mean like givers shouldn't have to put alot of effort into giving it. Like the receiver should receive a automated email saying they won from steamgifts alerting them and reminding them to add the giveaway-er

There isn't much effort. You go to manage gifts>resend>type their email. Done. Then, whether it takes a minute, or a few days, all they have to do is click the link in the e-mail, get the game, and come here to leave feedback.

Though an automated message system would be nice too.

You add them, and most people wait until they're on until giving it.
This is what I'm talking about though. http://www.steamgifts.com/forum/bolca/waiting-for-feedback

A week? It's been 5 days and a winner has not activated or confirmed on SG.com that he received the gift. I've emailed the winners again, the ones that haven't confirmed their winning, but activated the game, and another that hasn't done anything.

I agree with cult, I think we all decided on a week. 12 hr or 24 hr time limit is a little strict.

I always wanted either 7 days, or 10 days. Exactly for reasons mentioned above. I'm not sure what CG put set it to for the beginning (or if there even is one..) but I know that there is the 'received/not received' toggling option, but I'm not entirely sure if it's being put to use for more than just the 'received %' rate on peoples profiles'. Back to the previous idea: thus if you don't click received after x amount of time a new winner should in theory automatically be chosen (or the giveaway can be put back up.. but this would require a little more effort from the giver side, unless it all got automated).

Of course all this would need more back features to prevent scams, 'fraud', etc.. but this is just the essential backbones of the idea.

1 week ok,. i just hope it doesn't reflect on us givers as negative feedback.

I guess as long as winners are not complaining for not recieving their gift after weeks everything is all right.

i think there shouldn't be a waiting time honestly, people enter these giveaways to get games i doubt they would purposely just not accept the gift to give someone bad credit. . .

Lol, 9 hours? Work, vacation, and sleep are all valid excuses for not being on Steam.

People I can't stress this enough. Check your emails. I've given away a few games and people have added me on steam wondering where the game was. This site works that you send the game via EMAIL!!!! Go check your junk folder if you dont have it in your inbox.

Thanks

I had a giveaway on the site before the reddit bomb happened (http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/xn6dz/numen-contest-of-heroes) and I sent the gift to the person after they won. The winner marked that they received it about a day later.

Today they finally accepted the gift on their alt account. You can just wait.
