This is the police
sorry, wrong link, This is the police
A fun looking game about a police captain managing protecting his city vs the pressure to become corrupt for retirement money.
obviously fiction as the police corruption isn't a thing in the real world.

if one thing in this story is fiction it's definitely the corruption and not the police honestly wanting to protect his city as that is totally the purpose of police, to protect the people and not private property even though scotus has ruled that cops literally don't have to help people and need and can just walk away.

Current events may make the situation in my country look bleak, but at least I can trust the fact that if cops ever did commit any evil actions, such as murdering it's civilians or colluding with a fascist in office to keep him in power by say dispersing their units and physically opening the gates for a mob to prevent the political process to enact our next leader they would be held accountable to the same standards of the civilians they police and prosecuted.

As Always, Fuck boots, Fuck fascists, Fuck Amerikkka and CracknRockSteady y'all!

And if this thread didn't have a giveaway, it would be in off-topic. But you didn't tell the OP to put it in off-topic. You told the OP it doesn't belong here at all.

To be honest, most forums would have banned OP for shitposting. This is quit clearly and intentionally toxic and ill meant thread that bashes America, police and anyone who doesnt share OPs view of the world. And adding giveaway to that somehow makes it ok ?

SO I quit agree with Provos with it not belonging here. Not because this is "gaming related site", but because this is not a discussion that belongs on any forum. This is intentionally made bait post to start a flame war.

People have made posts about their mental health and users of SG have come together to share their experiences and help others out. OP just creates these hate filled posts with bashing everything and everyone and then acts surprised when people are against him ? This has nothing to do against OP personally, but at what kind of posts he makes.

This is intentionally made bait post to start a flame war.

And yet the only "war" in this thread is over whether or not the thread should be allowed. Go figure.

Edit: Upon re-reading the OP, I fail to find any "hate" or "toxicity." OP is simply stating facts (until the very last line), though she is doing so sarcastically. While I agree, the OP has a history of posting disruptive threads, I disagree that this is one of them, and feel that your own past experience with the OP is tainting your perspective regarding the current thread.

That last line (and addind Amerikkka in title) totally doesnt have a place here and I would consider hate speech.

I might be misinterpreting stuff, but everything else in the post screams sarcasm. As we all know US is having a problem with police killing civilians and getting away with it. Considering that attack on capitol has been made into thing of race by BLM this just seems intentionally bashful to police how they dont do anything right. (if you don't know what I'm refering to - leader of BLM has stated that police intentionally let down guard and let Trump supporters storm Capitol because they where white.. with these things in mind it's easy to interpret text in the post as sarcastic)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

OP made no mention of BLM, race, or skin color.

Proper noun. Amerikkka. (derogatory slang) The United States of America. Generally used in depicting the country as fascist or racist.

(To preface - yes, I live in the USA, as does the OP) With the current climate in the USA, is it really hate-speech, or simply an apt social commentary? Yes, there is racism (on both sides), and tensions are at an all-time high. But is stating the obvious hate-speech? I mean, really, the worst thing OP did was call Trump fascist. Is there any evidence that his recent behavior doesn't indicate inclinations in that direction? :P

As far as the sarcasm goes, I'd have a hard time disallowing a thread due to sarcasm, being a sarcastic SOB myself. ;)

Whether it's in off topic or general won't change anything though. To me, those two categories are pretty much interchangeable. It's not like she posted in the Deals or Hardware section. Plus, there is a giveaway in her OP so it's also about games in a way. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Also, did you say the same thing to the guy who posted about his newborn son? His thread is in the general section too.

People always act like there was some previous time where politics didn't matter as much.

The truth is, we were just younger and didn't fully comprehend the impact of politics on our lives. Ignorance truly is bliss.

Unfortunately, you can't put it back in Pandora's box. You can't simply plug your ears and close your eyes. Politics will still affect and influence everything. Denying otherwise is exactly that-- living in denial.

Politics has always been around, but partisanship and polarization have definitely increased substantially in recent years. There's a huge difference between, "I disagree with your political views," or even, "I think you're wrong," and, "You are destroying the country and an enemy of the people!"

But as you said, burying our heads in the sand will not make it go away.

True. It's like people can't disagree without making it personal. If you can't see someone's opinion as different from your own without thinking they want you and everything you like dead... maybe you should stay off the internet, right?

There really is a study to be made on the radicalization caused by social media. I read a paper (can't find the link but I'll dig in my bookmarks) from a sociologist who was saying being confronted to beliefs and lifestyles that are radically opposed to yours can create extreme antagonism in some people who have pretty much been used to only being around others with the same belief system since birth. Kinda like a cult escapee finding its way to New York City I guess.
I have always found meeting people who don't think like me a very interesting experience but then again, I was never in any cult so maybe that's why.

Regardless, his position was actually pretty optimistic and he concluded that these are the "growing pains" of the social media era and that after a while, the number of cult people will dwindle and kids will just get used to growing up around people who are totally different from them, in part thanks to social media diversity. I hope he is right and I'll hold on to that for a few more years.

I'm pretty sure there's some sort of cultural relation between boots and fascism, it's not the first time I've heard that type of expression. It probably has to do with oppressive regimes loving military paraphernalia, as it usually does.

i mean they can be, i wear combat boots to work.

but i think there's obviously a connection with authoritarians and miltaries and police using boots hence bootlickers, but honestly they're just as popular to punks. I mean whether you militia or miltiary you want boots to fight, you want boots to do work.

To fight? Sure, you need something that can resist some abuse without breaking and protect your feet.
To work? It depends on the work, sometimes security shoes are the only acceptable option, other times you need something you can move on, and for certain jobs there's literally no difference in what you wear.

im using it as a mix of two meanings. short for bootlickers. and also boot can mean people right out of bootcamp, and a lot of those people have certain attitudes about thier heroism and abilities when they haven't really experienced shit.

10 days until the inaugeration.
Trump won't be attending. People are happily defending the bullshit at the capitol building and blindly deflecting at BLM/Antifa ad nauseam, and subsequently the crazies are not just primed from having been fed on constant bubble-shielded rhetoric, they're feeling emboldened in having successfully done the shit they did.

I get the worrying feeling that we're going to see even more 'shocking, but absolutely not surprising' antics.

This is a friendly reminder to be careful of the 'bubble' effect if you consume social media. The truth is often ugly as hell, but it's better that then becoming a mirror image of the things we hate. Also like, if you need groceries / prescription pickup / supplies, maybe get them sooner rather than later. A lot can happen in 10 days, and there is a ton of fuel on this bonfire. The lunacy has already completed its volume-check, so it might be worth getting vital stuff in order now just in case it decides to get an early start on the next song, y'know?

Brought to you by my social media feed starting to prickle, and me really starting to feel the doomscroll

Remember when 2012 was supposed to be doomsday? Knowing our luck, it was supposed to be 2021 but they dropped a typo. ;P

Let's not forget that Twitter along with the other social media crap is on its way of making USA the new USSR.

https://www.dw.com/en/russian-dissident-alexei-navalny-criticizes-trump-twitter-ban/a-56183293

Navalny said he thinks the ban is "an unacceptable act of censorship."
This precedent will be exploited by the enemies of freedom of speech around the world. In Russia as well. Every time when they need to silence someone, they will say: 'this is just common practice, even Trump got blocked on Twitter

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

social media is not real life. The president is the government, not twitter, being banned of a platform sucks but like, it's not that big a deal.

I censorship is already common practice in Russia and they aren't gonna use twitter to defend it, they'll just deny it like they always do.

And trump tried banning tiktok, an entire platform, so if the state can ban platforms, platforms can ban the state

Sadly for some people they are real life. Most people still want the government to be in power instead of couple big corporations even if they in reality are already. Meanwhile in EU all social media from 4chan to Facebook will soon be held accountable for any and all criminal content on them.
