I've played The Sims series a fair bit. Remember gathering around a computer with some people back in the days of Sims 1-2 in order to "play" it together, aka make the ugliest possible sims and then start trapping them in pools to drown or met other sinister fates. Never played it properly back then, it was all just mayhem.
Sims 3 I got at some point on Steam and I've apparently played 74 hours of it. I played it a bit more "seriously" alone, and tried to follow some of its so-called story lines. No specific memories of the game and I haven't touched it in years nor do I have any plans to go back to it. This is the only one where I have any expansions but I don't really remember much of 'em to be honest. I guess I'd still say that 'Seasons' is my favorite because it's incredibly dull when the weather stays the same all the time.
Sims 4 I already got for free from some promotion EA was doing few years back. I don't remember the specifics of what that was, but I do know for certain that it was free because I would not have ever in my life bought Sims 4. I never really got to actually playing it, I just messed around with the mods and character creation, but that's all. With it being the most content-butchered game of the lot, it was also the first one where I tried downloading some mods for the game.

I agree. I enjoyed The Sims 3 a lot more than any of the other. I really thought the open world was amazing. The character design was a bit weird but acceptable. I liked the fact that it was so robust and easy to customize. It was a good game, despite it's bugs.

The Cats & Dogs DLC adds the animal functionality that then lets them sell you the actual animals for more money.

got it for 5$ and spent like 400 hours on it, still the best sims game to date. the new ones sucked the life out of the random NPC's, kinda kills the game

Nothing. I don't think they will add anything particular from now on either. I think, Maxis thinks it's kinda what the base game needs. It's bare bone, but at least it saves you from paying money for it.

I remember playing the first Sims with mods. Nothing like having Sailor Moon, The Deathscythe Gundam, and Inuyasha share a mansion while being the worst neighbors to normal sims.
Not sure that's allowed in the current state of The Sims.

You can do any kind of stuff in the Sims 4. You are do all of that even in this one and probably better. The Sims 4 emotions and AI is a bit improved, but it's far from being perfect. They did scale it back to how Sims 2 used to be, so no open-world.

Clicked it through once, got none of them, just a server error message, and now the page fails to load both the featured items and the personality pathmaker (in browser and in client as well)
