Another holiday event, another no spacecat. Oh well.

The odds are very very low with all the shenanigans going on. Look at the number of entries on cg's box.
Most boxes I saw had at least 300 entries on the day they were created.
Every time I stumbled upon one of the "big" boxes, there were about 2000 entries, which is mathematically impossible unless there are really people sharing boxes but I very much doubt it because it would make their chances lower. If they only had one account of course.

CG's box does not count. We all know its the fist one and its a good one. I'm not so sure about the rest either. I know I opened very good boxes that had both high and low counts. Keep in mind a box that everyone wants will have a higher count as everyone who opens it will enter it while other boxes may be opened but not entered. I never entered every box I opened.
No wins here in the event but I feel I had just as much chance as anyone. Its always a fun event.
On the flip side, I've had very good luck for wins in Dec. :)

No ofc, I just meant that gives you a pretty good number of the total number of people participating in the box events and knowing enough about it to know that CG's box is the first one and that it's a wallet card.
So with around 5.5K entrants, it seems rather improbable that half that number would be just by chance stumbling on most of the AAA games in the boxes.
On the flip side, I've had very good luck for wins in Dec. :)
And you made great GAs in December too so karma was good to you. Checks out :)

Reminded me of last year, where I entered 3 GAs (yeah I know, I am picky with my joins) and all three where won with completely fresh accounts made in december. One of them even won spiderman miles morales and did not evne played it until today! Some people leech just out of pure greed without a second thought if they even want to play it, as long as they own/win something for free. Sad that this was also the case this year, looking at many of the big titles I found.

That's painful to read. :')

lol I have a suggestion for next year, make it where you see who made what boxes. Why? So it's easier to avoid the people trolling the event with asset flips and such. To me it seemed like the best looking boxes all had rubbish in them, some people even made it seem like what was inside the box was obvious and then you open the box to see they were just trolling the event. Saw a box with Rick Grimes on the lid, his pistol, a katana and stuff like that. What was inside had nothing to do with TWD. Not knowing what is inside boxes is one thing but actively baiting people into garbage boxes? psh

It's probably not going to happen though
If boxes were not anonymous, that definitely would put an end to that kind of things but oh well, it's part of the... fun?
I even got baited by the Peek system a couple of times.

Not all of my GAs were accepted yet, but I have more silent winners, than people who can say a simple thanks. For a gift. At Christmas. From a Christmas event, from literal Christmas boxes. I guess all kinds of people just reenter civilization at this time of the year, unable to perform at the bare minimum.

Maybe that's why people make bait boxes? I mean I guess I could see it. It takes 2 seconds to type thank you, not sure why some people do not. I do not use the blacklist but if I were that would be a great reason to use it. I did win an interesting game from the event, maybe not exactly what I wanted but it would be silly to complain about something I got for free. And to be clear I'm not complaining about the bait boxes I just don't understand why to do that with the Christmas event, I started avoiding cool looking boxes because of it.

I had one person I blacklisted on my 2024 "naughty" list contact me on Steam to ask why... When I said it was because they'd won a gift from me this year and failed to say thank-you, they said that becuase of the bots, they just never said thanks anymore. When I explained that it was different when they won, they said, "meh, just not doing it". Plus the corker was that they still didn't thank me for the gift in the interaction!
Ok then, stay on my BL because manners actually do matter in a civilized society.

I have had a winner who won four games from me in the same event - didn't say thanks. :D Basic manners are simply lost on some folk...

Thanks again for the event, cg! Had fun designing my box. Hope the winners enjoy their games, and happy holidays all :)

Thanks to everyone who contributed even though I didn't win anything.
I probably already said it last year but please let us open boxes for games we already own, even if we have to go through a few confirmations. Sometimes I just want to know which game it is or drop a few words of thanks to the creator without entering the GA and currently it's not possible to do that :/

There are probably some reasons to not do that...
What I'd love to have as a feature (and I know I'm not the only one) is to be able to open all the boxes after the event ends. :o

No wins for me, but thought it was interesting that my own box got one more 'like' this year than my last year's box got. :D

I was a little pre-occupied with other trains and such, that I didn't create a box (plus the last time I did, it looked like poo). But I definitely peeked, opened and even entered a handful of GA's - not surprised that my low-entry numbers didn't produced a win - that's the way the holiday cookie crumbles!
Just wanted to say thanks for organizing this delightful event each year and also for the update to double click lids!!
