Just a little heads up to let folks know that if you already had Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey, you should now have the remastered edition in your library.

The dev have moved from Adobe air to Unity and is able to provide better overall support for the game, as well as support for the Linux platform.

I haven't found an import feature, but there are new achievements so I might as well replay the whole thing.:P

Heh, I saw the new achievements but some of them sucked to get. I beat the firs tone and bought everything/maxed everything not too long ago either so replaying it now fully would be a bit.. boring?

I'm currently playing it, there's not a lot of things that have changed (the main thing is the addition of the endless mode) and so far I like the new music less than the old one (but you can choose to play with the old one), but hey, it's free ! That's really nice of them, I was expecting a discount for owners of the original so this was a pleasant surprise

I had seen the forum posts yesterday about the update being free to current owners. I've had to contact the dev a couple of times and he always provided top-notch customer support.

I don't like that. Why they didn't update the old version?

My guess is marketing and choice.
Allow two versions instead of one, people can decide which they prefer. Since each version uses different engines.

I suppose the alternative would be to keep only one library entry and when launched let the user choose the classic or remastered version to be started as both would be downloaded. But then again, there would be less exposure of a "remastered" version and it would be just an update. So, it's marketing too.

Apparently, due to the change from Adobe Air to Unity, it was not possible to put the new game as an update.since you can't "patch" one over the other. (My guess is the end result is 100% different files)

Instead, he decided to grant the new version to everyone who had the original so no one is left out..

Also:

  • New set of cards for those interested.
  • Old version is now officially removed from store (ie. doesn't have it's own price) but it's not going to be a rare collector's item. It's included with the remastered version as package deal.

My achievements OCD does. :p And my total average finished games if that wasn't bugged by Aveyond still.
Found this a nice game but some achievements were tedious and in the end it got a bit repetitive.

And I had already got 100% of them on the original, time to log some more hours into this to 100% the new edition. (It also had more achievements related to the endless mode)
