Yeah, I'm one of those fools who occasionally visits that OTHER giveaway site from Russia that already feels like walking into a dark dungy seedy bar. I have very poor luck there vs the other sites I know of: here, PB, GG. my ratio isn't god awful but usually as a contributor you typically have better odds.

ANYWAY, the other day I unloaded a copy of Anno to them in exchange for some gold to enter giveaways. If you never contributed (good for you) it takes awhile for steam gifts to process and for a mod to approve the change from a coal to a gold giveaway. Well after waiting some time I get a message sent to my profile stating

"Unfortunately, there was some Steam error, so we couldn't accept your gift. We're sorry.

You can always send us a message http://g[...]/feedback

Best regards, G[...]"

Well ok then I though. I can just resubmit it or not my call I guess. Well I guess that Steam error was HUGE because I got a message from steam saying their bot account accepted the gift so it is no longer in my account! BASTAGES I'm shouting in my head ATM.

Bottom line... will Steam support help me or tell me to go fly a kite?

EDIT
I have sent 2 messages to the site admins via their "feedback" link. I have also posted in their support forums as suggested by some of the posters below. Its been over 10 days since my first attempt to contact GM.

I also want to state that it appears that the lack of communication wasn't on GM's part. They have replied via email but I didn't notice the two word reply at the very top when it looks only as if GM is just sending a copy of the message to Feedback.
I will keep the thread updated as things progress.
I'm not ashamed at admitting my mistake in being annoyed that I haven't heard anything when they did indeed communicate back... now lets see how the situation progresses :D

Final Edit
Well it turns out I'm just an ass. GM took care of it. Thanks to those of you who advised me and made sure I kept a level head.

Steam support MIGHT be able to help you if you provide them the reply stating that there was a "steam error", so it'll show that you've been scammed...

I'm not quite sure thou...

Either way the Steam client can trace who redeemed a key which results as already used, right? That might come in handy I suppose.

Go to http://steamcommunity.com/id/TheDewed/inventory/, then click "Pending Gifts" and then "View gift history".

You can use this to prove that the gift was sent and accepted by them. Unfortunately as the name implies, it's a "gift" and Steam support will not give it back to you.

Steam doesn't help when its a "scam"? I was promised a payment in return for my "gift". All trades are gifts and they regulate that. I'm curious as to if anyone has ever actually run in to a problem where they sent a gift for the promise of 'payment'.

I did confirm via steam gift history that the gift was indeed redeemed, I can see now that my statement wasn't quite concise to that.

Obviously I'm irritated by the whole ordeal.

Heh, should I report the account to SteamRep?

You chose to trade for something outside the steam trade system, they will not help you.

If you gave them and a game, and they gave you a game in a trade, and somehow you didn't get the game they traded you because a steam error they would help. But you traded for something on a 3rd party website, as far as they are concerned you gifted the game for free.

You're not allowed to sell Steam gifts so you're in the wrong for accepting any sort of "payment" for it and as such, they would not help.

I would contact the admin/mods once more with a screenshot of the page showing the account which redeemed it and if they still refuse to give your points (or whatever, don't use GM), I would absolutely make a thread on SteamRep and start a smear campaign against the site. :p

It wouldn't hurt to contact Steam support telling them that there was an error. Also, ask GM for the details of the error message so you can contact Steam -- be polite; try to assume they're telling the truth for now, since it doesn't benefit you to get angry. Explain to them that your game is gone and that you want to work with Steam to resolve the error. Etc.

If they're telling the truth, Steam Support will certainly help you, since it was an error on their end.

I have tried to (what I felt was) calmly explain to GM support that from what I can tell, they have indeed received the game. This is why I'm getting really annoyed, I haven't heard back from them in what is almost 5 days.

They wouldn't risk reputation of their website for a few dollars...

Don't worry, wait it out as it is to be expected. Probably translation/incompetency issues.

I'd suggest to message the site admin again, once again providing the link to the screencap of your gifting history. Hiccups happen, but the fact that it takes them 5 days to resolve the situation is not a good thing.

Hmmm. I'm not sure if I'll trust GM as much anymore. I did win Civ V from them, though.

GameMiner is trustable, I've never had any problems with them, they fixed my errors in few hours always, you should write in their forum.

I have won a number of games there and given away even more. I have had 1 problem getting an item and it was resolved very easily (had to change my email address and then it sent perfectly). I would try the forum to see what happens.

I have talked to Andrew (Gameminer) quite a few times and he has always been very quick to answer my questions and very professional. I hope you are able to get this taken care of.
