do you miss the puzzles before jigidi
All of the puzzles are favored in some way. Specially those cryptic ones. They get easier and more accessible too by experience of the past. The "clever" thinking is a pattern of past puzzles too in a way that really helps on other type puzzles. Jigidi doesn't favor anyone with past experiences by much.
I'm sure however that jigidi will get boring by time too and lessen in favor. But putting together the pieces is enjoyable to some people. So might never fully vanish. Many seem to like em too when checking out the poll. I personally like em too over the cryptic ones that favor certain people. Also partly due being lazy, partly due liking my time and knowing what getting myself into.

Making good puzzles takes a lot of time, which, as our userbase grows older and older, we have less of. Just as an example, my first Temple of Steamgifts puzzle series took around 200 hours to complete, not to mention almost 50 giveaways that cost quite a bit of money. Also don't forget that as time passes, it's more difficult to think of original puzzle ideas, since you have to dig deeper and deeper as people have such a wealth of old puzzles to rely on now.
I guess it's been quite a while since The Temple of Steamgifts Revisit, have a couple of ideas for puzzles, but I need the time and money to implement them.

Nope. I used to open up a few, realised it was a needlessly overconvoluted mess for a game I probably already had a key for anyway, and decided that I am at least a decade if not more older when I would have time to waste on trying to solve them. I face enough conundrums and enigmas in my day office job and have enough keys for puzzle games to satisfy my needs for them.
Jigidis, on the other hand, I solve sometimes, even if I don't even check the giveaways behind them. You'd be surprised how difficult it can be to find a decent jigsaw computer game, online or offline.

It's pretty cool seeing what images people come up with for their jigidi. I mean, some images should never have been made into jigsaws, they simply aren't suitable to 'telling a story as you put the pieces together' (nevermind all the 1000 piece all-white or all-black puzzles), but others are images in styles you never would have thought to explore on your own, and make for really interesting explorations.
I think when people use photos they took themselves, those typically end up being the most interesting of all. Though when you've got ones that've been stylistically tweaked [I believe it was Aurorable who did so with theirs], those can get pretty interesting just from a new-challenge perspective.
The one downside of jigidi is that it doesn't allow anything but standard puzzle shapes (as many other jigsaw sites online offer), and with no size variety among them. Likewise, no custom cutting function (though I've actually yet to see any site offer that). There's no real way to fit the puzzles to the images, so you have to fit the images to the puzzle, which does feel a bit limiting. But, as you say, you're still getting better quality puzzles than you'd get most anywhere else- and with the ability to talk to the creator and fellow completers afterward, and maybe even win something nice.
It's a great system for anyone that enjoys jigsaws and the community here.

Limiting it may be, which is true, but funny enough, I don't recall when was the last time I met a jigsaw game where you could use your own image, set the number of pieces for the jigsaw, and it used the standard edge shapes only. Which is, funny enough, what I want in a jigsaw game. :)
(I am sure I met the last one like that in the Reflexive Arcade days, they had an entire series of them. My mother loved one where they had animal photos as stock ones, but each game offered the possibility to use own JPEGs.)

Well, I mean, jigsawplanet, for example, has all the core features of jigidi, and then some (Moreover, when you actually play the puzzles, there's also extra features like putting the completed image in the background, and so forth. It really is a site that caters to all approaches toward jigsaw play.)
Flip side, it lacks the stylish interface, saving functionality [even if that can be a bit buggy at times], and completion message of jigidi.
As far as games, no, I have to agree with you- they're mostly unmitigated disasters of poor interface, low quality images, poor optimization, lack of features (such as saving- jigidi really shines there), and so forth.
I quite enjoy taking the occasional jigidi break here on SG, it's a nice way to zone out into "a game", without having to really commit yourself to anything overly demanding on your attentions.

Jigidi puzzle are fast and easy to make.... and slow to solve for players.
More complex puzzle are much costly or longer to create... and solving can be slow or just very fast.
If they are copy-pasted from web, there are no point making them.
If they are educative, why not.
If they are original, you may not finish them.
There aren't many puzzles around at the moment, maybe you should create some.
Making some puzzles yourself would help you and other getting what you want rather than just consuming those puzzles.
Why do you even think they don't exist enough of them ???

whenever someone made a SG puzzle it used to be very cryptic, like you had to translate a language, answer a riddle, or discover that really the answer lay in the nth letter of every nth sentence. It used to be there were good puzzles, like trying to spin a dial to uncover a message, or interpreting a picture or getting the RGB values or whatever. what ever happened to puzzles like this? now all we have is brain-dead jigidi puzzles that require no thinking whatsoever.
i miss a puzzle where you actually need to think for a second, not just stare at a computer for 20 minutes and moving puzzle pieces. that's not testing your SG users--that's just saying: if you want to enter my giveaway, just give up 20 minutes to solve this jigsaw puzzle. You are forcing your users to waste their time, whereas with the other puzzles you can walk away from them and your brain is thinking about how to solve everything.
tldr: jigidi puzzles have ruined sg puzzles
